What do you do?
I do a little of a lot, including preaching, leading worship services, leading Bible studies, providing spiritual guidance to Westside Christian School, and bringing the message of Christ to the community. I also connect members to many different service opportunities, both inside and outside the church.
How did you come to St. Andrew?
I first came as a vicar (pastor intern, essentially) in 2013. My first assignment upon Seminary graduation was in Marietta, OH, where I was pastor from 2015-2022. St. Andrew and the Madison area both represent big changes, but I’m happy to be back to serve this congregation and community.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:8-11).
Tell us about your family
Michelle and I met in college and were married in 2012, a year before the initial St. Andrew stint. Almost all of our extended family is in Wisconsin, but our four young children were all born in Ohio during my time as pastor in Marietta.
What is your favorite vacation location?
Surfside Beach, SC, but mostly because of the circumstances of the trip in 2021.
Where did you receive your training?
Martin Luther College (2011), Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (2015), and all the experiences God has blessed and challenged me with (ongoing)
