This Week
We continue our study of Acts with the meeting of Festus and King Agrippa II. We have very little in common with these ancient men of influence, but we do share one thing. In fact, we meet for the very same reason that Festus met with King Agrippa II. It’s the reason we live, love, hope, and sing. The reason? A certain Jesus was dead and now lives. In his name we teach and preach the gospel of the Living God. Enjoy the fellowship of your brothers and sisters around the gospel in Word and sacrament this Thursday at 7 PM or on Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Call accepted
Members of St. Andrew,
I appreciate all the conversations and encouragements from the many who reached out through various platforms over the last month. I want to thank you all for the opportunity to consider the bigger picture of Jesus’ Great Commission to make disciples of all nations, including how I personally fit into that, considering where I serve now and your ministry context. When I try to let go of the arrogant notion that either of these congregations (St. Andrew and Crown of Life in Marietta, Ohio) needs me specifically, as if God’s Word could return to him empty without achieving his purposes, one path emerges as more suitable. Therefore, I accept the call to serve as Pastor for Service and Outreach at St. Andrew. I look forward to dedicating my abilities to the ministry of loving God, loving each other, and serving the world. Between now and then, please pray for all the moving parts of this transition and the transition of Crown of Life.
Together in Christ,
Pastor Clinton Kreuziger
Praise God for providing us with a Pastor for Service and Outreach. We will be working with Pastor and Michelle to help with their transition. No timeline has been established yet. They have a house to sell in Ohio and a house to find here. In the future, you may be able to help with moving or a welcoming party. If these are your gifts and you wish to use them to welcome the Kreuzigers, contact Amy Hutter.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Growth Groups
Fall Growth Groups have begun! If you didn’t get signed up, talk to Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad to find out what is still available. The next sign-up period will begin in January. When you have an idea for a new Growth Group location, day, time, or topic, let Mr. KJ know.
WELS Campus Ministry
College brings about a lot of change. There is one thing that we pray stays the same, however. That one thing is faith in Jesus. WELS Campus Ministry helps college students stay connected. Click here for more information and to find a campus ministry near you!
WELS Singles
Did you know that November 11 is International Singles’ Day? If you’re widowed, divorced, or have never been married, we invite you to join us at the 2022 WELS/ELS Singles’ Retreat on November 11-13 at Camp Phillip, Wautoma, Wisconsin, for a weekend of fun and fellowship. For more information and to register, go here. Registration deadline is October 11, 2022.
Impact
When Jesus says something, it is the truth, whether we can understand it or not. Why? Because he is God from heaven. Listen to Professor Stephen Geiger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary share insight into a most fascinating conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus that is filled with truth. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
A new year of PowerHour has begun! If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details about PowerHour, click here. The next PowerHour is September 16: Fall Farmers’ Market.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
September Monthly Mission Partner
This month our mission partner brings us to Brandon, South Dakota. Our prayers and offerings will support a new mission congregation, Sure Foundation Lutheran Church. Pastor Craig Wilke began worship services in Brandon in 2020 with 30 members, and the Spirit has blessed Sure Foundation with 80 members today. This congregation currently worships at a golf course but is in the process of looking for land in the Brandon community. See their website for more information.
Window cleaning
We’re not sure how many windows there are here at St. Andrew and Westside, but we do know they need a good washing. The plan is to get those windows squeaky clean on September 17 from 9 AM – 11 AM. You can help. Everything you need will be provided, including donuts! Click here to join the crew!
Janitor position
Volunteers fill many, many roles at St. Andrew to carry out this ministry, but some roles we pay people to do. One of those paid positions is a daytime janitor during the school year to refresh bathrooms, do some general cleaning in the gym and sanctuary, etc. This isn’t the regular “heavy lifting” cleaning—we contract with Badger Chemical and Supply for the whole building cleaning after school. For more information about this part-time daytime janitor position, or to get the job description, contact Amy Hutter.
