This Week
Stay connected to Jesus
A loss of power changes everything and makes life much more difficult. How much more doesn’t this hold true when it comes to our relationship with our Savior. For both eternity and for day-to-day life, it is of utmost importance to STAY CONNECTED TO JESUS. He is not only our power source when everything else stops working, he is also our guide, protector, and friend to lead us forward in his holy name.

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Construction update
Roof joists are going up this week over the sanctuary portion of the new building. You’ll continue to see the roof take formation over the next two weeks.
Paving of Parmenter Street is scheduled for early October, weather permitting. In the meantime, to get to St. Andrew, it is recommended to take one of these alternate routes:
- From the north, County Road K to Church Road to Schneider Road
- From the south, Airport Road to Capitol View Road to Schneider Road
On evenings after 6:30 and weekends you can use one of the routes above or take Highway 12 to the Parmenter Street Exit #249 and drive around the barriers. Thank you for your continued patience.

Pledge confirmation request
Westside Christian School is undergoing its annual audit as part of its participation in the Wisconsin School Choice Program. As part of this process, our auditors are reaching out to confirm A Place of Peace pledge balances as of June 30, 2024, and June 30, 2025, related to our ongoing capital campaign. (The audit covers two years, hence confirmation of the June 2024 balance.)
If you’ve made a pledge, you possibly did or will receive a confirmation request regarding your balance and anticipated payment schedule as of June 30, 2024 and 2025. You’ll be asked to verify your records and reply directly to our auditor, Whitney Wagner at Reilly, Penner & Benton LLP, via email at [email protected].
Your timely response is greatly appreciated. For questions, feel free to email Financial Administrator Ron Kerr or call 608-219-8149.
A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Staff Ministry Conference
This past week, Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs was in The Villages, Florida, for the annual Staff Ministry Conference. This year’s conference focused on being “spiritual first responders”—helping people through trauma, tragedy, and conflicts. It was a great few days of digging into God’s Word, renewing friendships, and learning about new ideas from fellow staff ministers. Thank you for the opportunity to attend!
Adult choir resumes October 8
Blend your voice with others to sing God’s praise. We’ll rehearse at 7 PM on Wednesdays in the Soul Café to sing for worship on:
- Sunday, October 26 (rehearsals will be October 8, 15, & 22).
- Sunday, December 7 (rehearsals will be November 12 & 19, December 3).
High school-aged and older are welcome to attend. Interested in participating? Email Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.
Milestones
Our brother John Trager was called to his eternal home on September 11 at the age of 94. His memorial service will be at St. Andrew on Saturday, September 27, at 4:00 PM, with visitation from 2:30 – 4:00 PM and a meal following the service.
Darin Schubring and Angi Allen were joined together in marriage on Friday, September 19. Be sure to congratulate them and pray for them as they serve God and each other in marriage.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
National Online Teen Bible Study
Connecting with peers is important for all ages. It is more important than ever for teens. Here’s a way for your teen to do that: an online Bible study lead by a trusted Lutheran pastor who specializes in fostering these connections and opening up Scripture to high school students. The first one is September 28. Go here to learn more and to register.
Small Talk returning
Small Talk is a St. Andrew podcast featuring young children. Host Rachel Kamin asks questions about the Bible and living as God’s children and her young guests take it from there. An all-new episode will be released soon.
Impact podcast
Romans 8 is loaded with assurance from God about his love for us. Pastor Clinton is our guest, and he takes on the closing verses in this extraordinary chapter. Listen to what he says about you being not just a conqueror, but more than a conqueror. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
PowerHour
PowerHour returns on Friday, October 3, at 10:15 AM. This ministry is for parents and their young children, up to age 4. Click here to learn more about PowerHour.
FUEL
FUEL is the Growth Group for all St. Andrew high school students. They meet on Sunday mornings to learn from and discuss Scripture, but that’s not all. They also hang out and have fun. Saturday night they made homemade pizza and wrote thank you cards to veterans. Their next outing is a trip to Schuster’s Farm on October 25 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Contact Seth and Delaney for more information and to RSVP by October 17.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Help with St. Andrew 50th anniversary
St. Andrew will celebrate 50 years of ministry on October 26. If you’d like to help the team planning the event, please contact Pastor Clinton.
If you have pictures of baptisms, confirmations, summer camps, worship spaces, Growth Groups, Sunday school classes, Westside Christian School classes, etc., please submit them. If you have hard copies, identify them as yours and put them in the box in the atrium. Otherwise, you can send digital photos to Sarah Wendorf.
Monthly Mission Partner
Our September Mission Partner is our Ministerial Education Fund. This is St. Andrew’s effort to ease the financial burden of those attending schools that prepare them for the public full-time ministry. This year, five St. Andrew members are on that path: Isaiah Durkee, Ivy Durkee, Levi Durkee, Andrew Fritz, and Kylie Roekle.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Westside Stride
Once again, Westside Christian School held its annual Westside Stride. The Stride is a fun-filled day for students, teachers, and parents. It is the big annual fundraiser for the school. Students run laps around a “track” while a DJ plays music and encourages them. Parents and grandparents come to watch and encourage their students. This year our fundraising is going to make some very necessary improvements on the school playground. Thanks to all who organized and ran the Westside Stride. |

Connections
Connections is a new program that was started last year. The objective is to get members of St. Andrew that do not have a connection with the school to come into the school and get to know the students in the 3rd grade. This year we have 38 3rd grade students, so we need many volunteers who are willing to share 30 minutes of their time on October 3 at 2:30 PM, playing games and getting to know the kids. If you are interested in participating in Connections, please reach out to Mrs. Beth Plath, one of our 3rd grade teachers, at beth.plath@westside-christian.org, or call/text her at 612.616.1760. |
