This Week
Search me
David concluded Psalm 139 with four dangerous prayers: search me, know me, test me, and lead me. Those simple requests are at first beautiful, but those same requests become frightening when you really mean them. Those prayers only become beautiful again when you learn to pray them for the same reasons David did: you belong to the Lord. Your life is his. Your times are his. You are his. And you can trust his plan in making you the way he did. Join others seeking the same confidence on Thursday at 7 PM or on Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Milestones
Lushia Mendoza Otto, child of Ashley and Luis, was baptized at Meriter Hospital shortly after she was born. This Sunday, we’ll remember and give thanks for the gift of new life the Spirit graciously granted her and ask his help to help us continue to present her with God’s means of grace in Word and sacrament that she might remain in her baptismal grace forever.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Growth Group hosts
Are you interested in hosting a Growth Group this spring in your home? Here are the basics:
- You host, but leading the Bible study is not required (there are others who can do that).
- 8 – 12 people (depending on your sweet setup)
- 90 minutes on a weeknight (even Fri-yay!)
- 8 – 10-week commitment (or until you get sick of them)
Contact Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad for more details.
A Morning for Your Marriage
A Morning for Your Marriage returns October 21 at 9 AM. This enrichment for married couples led by Pastor Hunter will help you find more joy in each other and give more glory to God through your marriage. Whether you have been married for 6 months or 50 years, this is for you. Click here to register.
Impact
God flooded the entire earth in the days of a man named Noah. It is real history. Listen to Pastor Karl Schauland, campus pastor at Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown, South Dakota, talk about the Genesis account of this global disaster. You can listen to Impact here or on popular podcast platforms by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
PowerHour brought in 20+ kids last Friday. The PowerHour staff is anxious to welcome you and your child. Children up to age three and their caregivers are invited. The next PowerHour is October 6 at 10:30 AM. We will have fun exploring all things “weather.” Click here for more on PowerHour.
Sunday Children’s Ministries
Musikgarten and Plugged into Jesus are offered each Sunday morning at 9:20. Musikgarten is for children up to age three, and Plugged into Jesus serves children 4K – grade 5.
Musikgarten meets in room 104. Please consider how many adults are in the room when deciding if both parents or one parent will attend from your family.
Plugged into Jesus meets in room 102 (4K – kindergarten) and the gym (grades 1 – 5). There will be a registration form to fill out when you bring your child for the first time.
Send your questions to Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad.
Spark
Growing up has always had its unique challenges for preteens and young teens. This is true today more than ever. Fortunately, we have God’s Word to help guide them. Each week in Spark (grades 6 – 8), the students read through a Bible story and then spend time discussing ways to apply the lessons to their relationships, responsibilities, and recreation. Sparks meets every Sunday morning from 9:30 – 10:15 in room 110. Email Jessica Bohl with your questions.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Mission Trips 2024
The process gets started early! We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves, but two new trips are in the works to two metropolises that start with C. Many more details will be worked out over the next several months, but if you think you might want to be part of the process as a planner, organizer, trip leader, or helper for a national trip or Mission Madison, please contact Pastor Clinton.
Keys found
A keychain of a few keys was found in the hall in late August. Call or stop by the Welcome Center to identify and claim them.
Educational Event on Alzheimer’s Disease
Interested in furthering your knowledge in general or because of an affected loved one? This free event presented by Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center is Thursday, September 21, 4:30 – 7:30 PM at the Middleton PAC. Click here for more information.
Monthly Mission Partner
Preparing to be a called worker in the public ministry of the gospel is no small task. It involves at least a college degree and often ministerial education at the high school level. St. Andrew offers financial assistance to those who attend one of these schools that prepares them for those callings: Luther Preparatory School in Watertown; Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota; and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. Three St. Andrew individuals are in that pipeline currently.
