This Week
Covenant of Grace
The book of Genesis isn’t just about what happened, it’s also about what is happening. This weekend, we begin a fall series on the Covenant of Grace described in Genesis 6 – 9. Our day is more like Noah’s than we realize. We have cars and power tools, but hearts haven’t changed. He warned the people of Noah’s day judgment was coming, and he warns people of our day. Just like God was incredibly patient then, he’s patient now. Now is our time to live in his patience, walk with him, and finally enjoy the safety not of an ark, but of his grace by faith in Jesus Christ. If you want to get a jump on the introduction, read Genesis 5. Then gather for grace on Thursday at 7 PM or on Sunday at 8 AM and 10:30 AM.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Livestream this weekend
If you are unable to make it to worship this weekend, we will be offering a livestream option at both the 8:00 and 10:30 AM services this Sunday, September 22. This is just a trial run, so if you make use of the online option this weekend, please note on your online check-in which service you livestreamed. Any questions? Reach out to Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.
Miss any of Romans?
Did you know that we archive our past sermons and services on our website? If you missed any of the weeks from Romans, go to st-andrew-online.org/sermons and search by series, speaker, topic, or book to listen to any of the Romans services or sermons from the past nine months.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.
Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
One-year Bible reading
You can find a wide assortment of Bible-reading plans out there that help people read their entire Bible. They work for some, but not everyone. We are bringing a plan to St. Andrew that we think will work for you. The Story of God’s Love is a summary of the Bible. It is written chronologically and includes something from every book of the Bible in its 250 daily readings. We will read this book at the same pace and help each other along the way. Find more details here. When you are ready to sign up, click here. You can also sign up in the atrium.

Impact podcast
Jesus once said, “I am the resurrection and the life . . . ” Are any words from our Savior more comforting than those? They are front and center this week as we welcome back Professor Steve Geiger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary for part two of the true story of the raising of Lazarus. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
PowerHour
Come and visit a farmers’ market at the next PowerHour! PowerHour is a children’s ministry that serves children and their caregivers. Children up to school-age are welcome. Our next PowerHour is Friday, September 20, in the gymnasium. Please note the new time: 10:15 – 11:15 AM. Go here to learn more.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Service opportunity | housekeeping
The daily operations of St. Andrew ministry come with a need for regular cleaning and tidying. We are looking for people to help in this service, specifically on Sundays after worship and after events, including sports and weddings. We’ll show you what to do, and you can serve as much or as little as you like. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
School bus route driver opportunity
The St. Andrew/Our Redeemer bus route to Lakeside Lutheran High School is looking for a driver for both before and after school routes. Every school day, you leave St. Andrew at 6:35 AM. LLHS provides a vehicle for travel back home. In the afternoon, you return to Lakeside to depart by 3:15 PM, driving the bus back to St. Andrew, arriving about 4:15 PM. No experience is required, training is provided, and test fees are paid. Contact Transportation Manager Eric Haley ([email protected]) for more information.
One body, many members
Thinking about serving at St. Andrew but don’t know how? Now is a great time to complete your One Body, Many Members survey. This will give the leaders of St. Andrew ideas on where to plug you into ministry roles, whether recurring or as they come up. St. Andrew is a multi-faceted ministry because it is a ministry of multiple servants, and there’s room for you too.
Fill out the survey.
Monthly Mission Partner
Our September Mission Partner is our Ministerial Education Fund. This is St. Andrew’s effort to ease the financial burden of those attending schools that prepare them for the public full-time ministry. Please pray for all who desire to serve in full-time public ministry roles. Here’s a video that features two St. Andrew members in this ministry pipeline.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
The Westside family
Witnessing older students taking younger students “under their wing” would make any parent, teacher, or principal smile. That’s just what happened at Westside this past week. It’s called Wave Teams. Students from all grades are mixed together and spend about 30 minutes having a devotion, getting to know each other, and then completing an activity. You can see the apprehensiveness of the younger students disappear as they get to know their older counterparts. You can see the confidence grow in the older students as they take on more responsibility. When those younger students see the older students in the hall or at lunch, you can watch the interactions. There is nothing more satisfying than a family coming together! |
