This Sunday
How’s your appetite?
Moms are pit bulls when it comes to protecting their children’s appetites. They know that if the child eats a cookie right before a meal, he or she will feel full but won’t get the nutrition he or she needs from the meal because they won’t be hungry. Some grandpas hate that. But moms are right. In Psalm 63 David describes a spiritual appetite—what ruins it, how to get it, and even the sign that you have it. Read the psalm this week and then gather with fellow saints to hunger for God and feast at his Table. Our worship this Thursday and Sunday will include the Lord’s Supper.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Building Dedication
Thank you to all for the great celebration we shared last Sunday to dedicate our facility and enjoy a picnic together. There are many who assisted and/or contributed financially. We appreciate team leaders Ron and Piri Kerr and Steve and Beth Dettman for their work on Sunday’s dedication. Watching kites flying high in the sky and seeing our children (and parents) having fun was awesome. We would like to thank the numerous key participants who played a role to make this happen. To God be the glory!

At the root of the word “administration” is rudder, or steering the ship. It’s a skill, and it’s a spiritual gift. St. Andrew is blessed to welcome two new people who will help steer the ship of St. Andrew.
Amy Hutter
Amy serves as Administrative Assistant for our ministries (other than Westside Christian School, whose Administrative Assistant is Stacy Bernd). It’s a big job. She works with Pastor Hunter to support our ministries of worship, nurture, and service & outreach, and she is the master administrator for CCB. Amy’s degrees are in business and entrepreneurship. She has worked in management for retail and service industries. Amy is married to Mitch and gets to carpool to work with one of her favorite people: their daughter Alayna, a 2nd grader at Westside.
Rachel Kamin
Rachel serves as Administrative Assistant for Worship. She began serving in this role as quarter-time last year. This year she will expand that role to half-time. She also serves as a paraprofessional at Westside. Rachel has been our volunteer newsletter editor for years, a role perfectly suited for her profession as an editor. Rachel is married to John. The two of them enjoy life in Harmony Grove or wherever God allows them to travel.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
10:30 AM Communion Care
There are many serving teams at St. Andrew to be a part of. One team in particular to consider is the Communion Care team. This important team serves behind the scenes each week setting up for Communion and cleaning it up afterward. It’s a great way to serve individually, with your family, or with a friend. The 10:30 AM team in particular takes about 15 minutes to clean up the bread and wine following worship. If you are interested in being a part of this team, contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs. Worship Check-in
Please let us know that you were with us for worship. You can do so on our website or by going here.
Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend here. Obviously, ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.
“Step by Step” by David Strasser
“Speak, O Lord” by Keith Getty, Stuart Townend
“My Soul Longs for the Lord” by Graham Kendrick and Kristyn Getty
“We Will Feast in the House of Zion” by Sandra McCracken
Milestone
Riley Mae Havens, daughter of Brock and Kristen Havens, will be baptized into Christ this Sunday. Brock and Kristen are served by a church in the Detroit area where they live, but are visiting grandma and grandpa (Ferron and Barb Havens) this weekend and wish to have their child receive the blessings of baptism here.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Moving day assistance
A note from new faculty member Karl Kuschel:
Sarah, Baby Marie, and I are moving into our condo this week! We will have our pods delivered on Thursday, September 2, and would appreciate any help that you can provide. We plan to start unloading between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. It should only take an hour or an hour and a half. If you are not able to carry boxes but would like to hold/entertain a baby—please come too!
For more information and an address please contact [email protected].
Key fobs for passcode
We have upgraded our security system at the church and school and are no longer able to use the card keys issued previously. If you have a card key or require access to the church/school, please contact Stacy Bernd at the church office to trade in the old card and/or assign an access code.
The Love of Christ (TLC)
Thank you from the Dana Krahn and her family:
I would like to extend an update to all those that have been praying for myself and my children. I have finished treatment! I am cancer free! Praise the Lord! I am still dealing with some side effects from chemotherapy and radiation, and my oncologist is confident that within the next six to nine months, those side effects will disappear. I am returning to work part-time very soon and trusting that it will go well. My three children are back in person at Westside Christian School.
I would like to extend a thank you to all the St. Andrew members who took care of us during my treatment. From the cards and letters I received, to groceries and meals and fun care packages my children received, and everything in between, and all the prayers! Is it possible to extend all the gratitude we feel? By God’s grace this was all possible; we’ve thanked him in our prayers!
Update on Matt Morley
On Sunday, we prayed for Matt Morley, Safety Director of Kraemer Brothers, who was in a serious car accident. He was on-site during our building project. He is now released from the hospital, and recovery will be long and painful. Matt, his wife, and children appreciate your prayers. If you would like to do more for this family, get well cards and gift cards are recommended. They may need some temporary assistance with home chores like mowing the lawn. Cards can be dropped off at the church with a note “For Matt.”
