This Week

This week we press pause on “The Storm,” our 3-week series from Acts 27, and pick up the gospel of Luke. In Luke 17:11-19 Jesus cleanses ten men from horrific disease but the miraculous healing fades quickly to the background as Jesus draws the attention of all to one thinga Samaritan man worshiping at his feet. The image is dense and allusive, controversial and challenging, full of mercy and judgement, revelation and prophecy. Jesus tips the world and all its spirituality upside down. He never leaves a place the way he found it. That is why we gather in his presence, hear his Word, and partake in his sacraments. We come to worship him because he has changed us forever; because we never leave the same as we came. Praise be to Christ!

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

College Ministry Team
Did you know there are 36 St. Andrew college students? Three times a year, our College Ministry team sends thoughts and prayers and a little care package. Please ask the Lord to bless and keep them.

Impact
There are many ways to describe Jesus. Have you thought of this one? Master Teacher. In John 4, we see the Master Teacher in action in his life-changing conversation with a Samaritan woman at a well. Professor Steve Geiger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary will help us understand Jesus’ words and what we can learn from them.  You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

PowerHour
If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details about PowerHour, click here. The next PowerHour is this Friday at 10:30, and the theme is “Rooms of the House.”

Children’s ministries
Bring your child to a Sunday morning nurture ministry. This week through the story of Ruth, we will learn how God redeemed us by sending Jesus.

  • Musikgarten | for parents (or a caregiver) and their child up to age 3 (9:20 AM)
  • Plugged into Jesus | Pre-K3 – grade 5 (9:20 AM)
  • Spark | grades 6 – 8 (9:30 AM)

All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the love he has for them. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required.

FUEL
FUEL is a high school-age St. Andrew Growth Group that meets Sundays at 9:30 AM. This ministry provides a place for teens to ask questions and talk about life in the light of God’s Word. This week we will brainstorm creating a FUEL video and discuss what to pray for before and after a disaster like Hurricane Ian.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

October Monthly Mission Partner
Citrus Grove Church, our home mission in Wesley Chapel, Florida, is our October Monthly Mission Partner. This mission meets to grow people in the Word as Jesus makes hearts healthier and lives more fruitful. At Citrus Grove Church, God himself does the gardening. Donations to Citrus Grove Church go directly to support the church’s work in southern Florida.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Westside Stride
The 2nd annual Westside Stride is scheduled for this Thursday afternoon. The school goal is to raise $25,000 to purchase mobile S.T.E.A.M. kits, more books for our classroom libraries, and a new indoor volleyball net. The money raised will also be used to pay for one extra field trip for each grade and fund the Friends of Westside-sponsored events this school year. If the school meets its goal, an anonymous donor will match it with an additional $25,000—wow! If you’re interested in supporting Westside in this way, connect with a Westside student or place a check (payable to St. Andrew/Westside Stride) or cash (attention to Westside Stride) in the Drop Box at the Welcome Center.
