Satisfaction in life
What can we make of all the inequities of life? Does hard work pay off? How can we find satisfaction in life? Why does King Solomon seem to promote the Epicurean philosophy of “eat, drink, and be merry”? Join us Thursday at 7 PM or Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM to pursue godly wisdom and a meaningful life.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
A Morning for Your Marriage | 9:00 AM, Saturday, October 21
Want to grow in your appreciation for each other? Those who appreciate God’s kindness are always looking for ways to express their appreciation to God for his friendship. One way followers of Christ do that is by building friendships with each other. Witness Jesus overcoming enemies that would have prevented your friendship with God, identify four foes of friendship to your marriage, assess your fondness and admiration for each other, and commit to ways you’ll express appreciation for each other. Can you think of a better way to spend Saturday morning? Register here by Sunday, October 15.
Forward in Christ
Each month, the WELS publishes Forward in Christ as our synod’s official magazine. Among other things, this is a great resource for nurturing your faith. Here is a past article that offers ways to engage adult children who have wandered away from Jesus. The current FIC issue is always available in the atrium. Help yourself!
Impact
As far as literature goes, the Bible is the G.O.A.T. Dr. Mark Paustian will help you see the incredible and beautiful way Scripture points you to your incredible and beautiful Savior. You can listen to Impact here or on popular podcast platforms by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
PowerHour brought in 20+ kids last time. The PowerHour staff is anxious to welcome you and your child next time. Children up to age three and their caregivers are invited. The next PowerHour is October 6 at 10:30 AM in the gym. We will have fun exploring all things weather. Click here for more on PowerHour.
Sunday Children’s Ministries
Musikgarten and Plugged into Jesus are offered each Sunday morning at 9:20. Musikgarten is for children up to age three, and Plugged into Jesus serves children 4K – grade 5.
Musikgarten meets in room 104. Please consider how many adults are in the room when deciding if both parents or one parent will attend from your family.
Plugged into Jesus meets in room 102 (4K – kindergarten) and the gym (grades 1 – 5). There will be a registration form to fill out when you bring your child for the first time.
Send your questions to Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad.
Spark
Growing up has always had its unique challenges for preteens and young teens. This is true today more than ever. Fortunately, we have God’s Word to help guide them. Each week in Spark (grades 6 – 8), the students read through a Bible story and then spend time discussing ways to apply the lessons to their relationships, responsibilities, and recreation. Sparks meets every Sunday morning from 9:30 – 10:15 in room 110. Email Jessica Bohl with your questions.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Notes of gratitude received
Last month St. Andrew received letters of thanks from two recent Monthly Mission Partners. Read excerpts of these letters from Central African Medical Mission and Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel:
Dear friends at St. Andrew Lutheran Church,
Thank you for your generosity! Through your support of the Medical Mission, we continue to help those who need medical attention in Central Africa. Your gift of $6,760.43 will be used to help support the operation and growth of the Lutheran Mission Rural Health Centre in Zambia and the Lutheran Mobile Clinic in Malawi. This gift is greatly appreciated, and we thank you. Please continue to pray for the ministry of the Medical Mission and our workers.

Dear friends in Christ,
Thank you for your Christian partnership and generous participation in our campus ministry. I say with the apostle Paul, I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel.” Through your gift of $4,604.59, our ministry will be able to share Christ’s love with hundreds of college students and families from around the globe. Your gift allows us to further our reach, guide the lost, give hope to many who are hopeless, and train future servants of His church.

Service opportunity | indoor painting
With staff personnel shifts, some walls and doorways were removed/created this summer, creating some uneven coloration and an opportunity for you. If you would like to serve by painting a few walls totaling about one small room, contact Pastor Clinton.
Service opportunity | woodworking
Are you somewhat competent with dead trees? Do you want to help enhance the season of focusing on Christ’s passion for the whole family of St. Andrew? Then we have an opportunity for you, and the best part is you can do as little or as much as you want. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
A warm welcome to the Bohl Family | Growth Group service project
St. Andrew and Westside Christian School were blessed when the Bohl family accepted our call and relocated from balmy California to Wisconsin. Now the seasons are changing, and we have an opportunity to share our surplus, quality winter clothing items. Pastor Hunter’s Sunday morning Bible teaching Growth Group would like to encourage you to take a look through your closets for the things your family may have outgrown. Hats, coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, boots . . . they all provide comfort on a cold day. The Bohl family has two boys (7 and 12) and two girls (9 and 14).
How, when, and where: You can bring your items with you on Sundays or Thursdays and place them in the “Bohl Box” that will be in the atrium on those days. Please do so by Sunday, October 22. If you have no such items but wish to participate, a gift card from Costco, Farm and Fleet, etc. would be a perfect way to do so. Any surplus items will be promptly donated or utilized by Westside Christian families.
Monthly Mission Partner
October’s partner is Christian Aid & Relief, an organization of our church body whose mission is to reflect Christ’s love and compassion to souls suffering from disasters and hardships. Because of what Christ has freely done for us, we eagerly show we care by offering our time, talents, and treasures to those in need. For a better idea of what CAR does, view the video below.

We would also like to extend our many thanks to the parent volunteers who helped keep the kids going and the event running smoothly. The children have raised over $42,000 so far, with the deadline coming up this Friday (10/6). Donations can be made here. |
