This Sunday

That’s bold!
The last time you said that, were you referring to a gutsy move, an offensive statement, or guacamole? The adjective bold covers a lot of ground, doesn’t it? The apostle Paul spoke the word of God boldly. While it’s interesting to ponder what that meant, it’s more meaningful to determine how we will boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus. Gather with brothers and sisters this Thursday or Sunday to study Acts 14:1-7. Leave with what the Spirit promises us when we gather around the Word and sacrament: boldness.

St. Andrew giving thanks | Top 10 for MOM
Thank you for getting our Thanksgiving food collection for MOM off to great start! Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM) does not refuse any person asking for help, and this year MOM anticipates demand to be higher than most. As our way of giving thanks and serving our community, we are collecting MOM’s Top 10 items needed this Thanksgiving. Labeled boxes for each item will be in the atrium for you to fill October 14 – November 7. The Top 10 items are: wild rice, non-dairy shelf milk, canned coconut milk, canned mandarin oranges, canned beets, olive oil, curry powder, hot sauce, gluten-free elbow macaroni, and laundry detergent.Another way to help is with a monetary gift. A gift of $20 provides a Thanksgiving meal for a local family. If you wish to donate a gift card, check, or cash, please place it in an offering envelope marked MOM and drop it in the collection basket or the secure drop box located at the Welcome Center. Online donations can be made here—select “Other Offering” as your designation choice. We are so blessed with gifts of love from God, and this is just one way we can give back. If you have any questions about this ministry, please contact TLC member Karen Teske-Osborne. “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Musician stage installation
The last piece of the sanctuary renovations is the installation of the musician stage. This work will finally begin next week! So this Sunday, October 24, following 10:30 AM worship, we will be clearing out the music corner and clearing out the chairs on the right side to allow the construction crews access to the front of the church. If you are planning to attend church at 10:30 AM and are willing to stick around and help, please contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.Once the stage is installed, we will attach a curtain all the way around the bottom of the stage. If the Lord has blessed you with sewing skills and you are interested in lending your expertise, please also contact Naomi.Construction will be finished and worship will continue as planned the following weekend, October 28 & 31.Worship folder team
We are excited to be able to bring back the Connection Cards to worship beginning in November. These connection cards are one of our biggest forms of outreach to guests who come to worship with us. Each week we will need to attach these cards to the worship folders. It’s a simple yet effective way to serve those around you. If you’re interested in being a part of this team, please contact Naomi Laabs.

Call
Last week we announced Naomi’s call to serve as music teacher and staff minister at Divine Savior in Liberty Hill, Texas. Please keep her in your prayers as she considers how and where God is calling her to serve. She welcomes any comments, thoughts, or advice from her St. Andrew family as well, whether in person or via email or phone. Feel free to contact her at Naomi Laabs or (920)277-4633.

TLC is gathering names of families that might benefit from gift cards from our church family. These names will be kept anonymous and placed on our Giving Tree this Christmas season. Please forward names and contact information to Bonnie Shattuck or Curt Kephart. Confidential letters will be sent to nominated families to learn of their interest in participating. “Give, and it will be given to you.” Luke 6:38Mission Trips 2022

As we welcome new faculty to Westside, we try to surround them with prayers, gifts, and words of encouragement as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. Here is an encouraging note from 1st grade teacher Lisa Myhre:

Dear St. Andrew members and Westside staff,
I am writing to send a tremendous thank you for all the gift cards, gifts of money, words of encouragement, and most importantly your prayers. I have felt so welcomed by you and I am so humbly grateful for you all! I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many Christians who support me in my call as a 1st grade teacher. God has blessed us with a great start of the school year, and I know the remainder of the year will be just as great for he does all things well!
God’s blessings to you all!
Lisa Myhre

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

The Westside Stride was an amazing event, raising over $58,000 for our school! This includes an anonymous donation of $25,000 and sponsorship dollars. The proceeds will be used to purchase new playground equipment and enhance indoor and outdoor play spaces.

We were blessed with amazing weather for the event. There was a rockin’ DJ, lots of laughter, water wars, and a fun time had by all. Three classrooms won a pizza party. All classrooms met the school-wide goals to earn a casual/pajama day, popcorn and a movie day, an extra recess, and a bounce house for a day.

Thank you to those who helped make this event so successful. We look forward to doing it again next year!  “Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” Psalm 115:1
