This Week
Shake off the snake
Throughout our study of Acts, we have witnessed the Lord’s power in dangerous circumstances. Life is a voyage. It has winds, angry seas, and crises we can’t anticipate. The Lord answers our petition to “deliver us from evil”—at times by preventing the storm but at other times by bringing us through the storm. This faith lets us be as calm as Paul was in the storm, during the shipwreck and on the beach. God doesn’t panic. Why should we? He knows the outcome and the destination. So do we. For Paul it was Rome. For us, it’s the glory Jesus has prepared for us. You’re not alone in this faith. Gather with others this Thursday or Sunday to be church: people who receive God’s grace in Word and sacrament, praise him for it, and encourage one another with it.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Call Received
Last Wednesday evening, I received a divine call to serve as Boys’ High School Dean of Students at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, Florida. I know the Lord of the Church directs his ministry. Therefore, it is with full confidence that as I deliberate this new call and my call to continue to serve at St. Andrew, I can say he will lead me to the right decision. To reach that decision, I am spending time in prayer and meditation, and speaking to people at DSA and at St. Andrew to determine where I can best serve the kingdom. Jessica and I welcome your thoughts and ask for your prayers.
In Service to our Savior,
Mark Kjenstad

Milestones
Last week the saints gathered to celebrate another miracle: the Spirit’s work in baptism for Emma Susan Hoppe, daughter of Mitchell and Kim. And, because big sister Addison was born and baptized during the isolation of COVID, we also celebrated the great gifts the Spirit gave her two years ago. Faith is never private; the Spirit’s gifts are meant to be celebrated by the Spirit’s people.
The Lord of life presented a healthy baby girl, Layla Grace Marshall to Neil and Kim on Monday, October 10. Last Sunday, October 16, the Spirit brought her into God’s kingdom through water and the Word. We’ll affirm and celebrate that gift in a worship service later this month.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Teen devotions
Spending meaningful time with your teenager is very important. Here is a way to help you and your teen spend meaningful time with God’s powerful Word. Once a week, read and discuss a WELS teen devotion. Try these questions: What does this devotion cause me to confess? What does this devotion encourage me to do? What does this devotion teach me about God?
Impact
You know what God did on the seventh day, right? He rested. Did you know that is a picture of you and Jesus? Hebrews 4 makes that evident. Listen to Mr. Timothy Rimpel, a teacher of God’s Word at Illinois Lutheran High School, talk about the rest we have in Jesus. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details about PowerHour, click here. The next PowerHour is October 21 at 10:30, and the theme is “Shapes and Colors.”
Children’s ministries
Bring your child to a Sunday morning nurture ministry. This week’s Plugged into Jesus and Spark lesson is David and Goliath. Just like the Lord brought David his victory over Goliath, the Lord brings us our victory over sin and death.
- Musikgarten | for parents (or a caregiver) and their child up to age 3 (9:20 AM)
- Plugged into Jesus | Pre-K3 – grade 5 (9:20 AM)
- Spark | grades 6 – 8 (9:30 AM)
All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the love he has for them. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required.
FUEL
FUEL will be putting the U in FUEL this Sunday by Using our gifts to serve. Details coming later. FUEL is a high-school-age St. Andrew Growth Group that meets Sundays at 9:30 AM. This ministry provides a place for teens to ask questions and talk about life in the light of God’s Word.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Ride team needed
Do you worship at the 10:30 service? Do you drive near Parmenter in Middleton? If so, would you be willing to be part of a team to help get a senior gentleman to and from church on Sundays? With three to four individuals or families, a schedule can be worked out. If you are able to do this, please contact The Love of Christ (TLC) team leader Karen Teske-Osborne or call/text at 608-516-1315. Our TLC mission: Serving Christ by serving others.
Update on Pastor Kreuziger’s move
Two weeks ago, Pastor and Michelle Kreuziger made a whirlwind trip to Madison with one of their children, Lavender, to hunt for a house. The trip was fruitful. Offer made. Offer accepted. This week they accepted an offer on their home in Ohio! They are working through rent-back situations in both locations and settling on closing and move-in dates, but it looks like they’ll arrive here early to mid-December. Give thanks to the Lord who does all things well!
October Monthly Mission Partner
Citrus Grove Church, our home mission in Wesley Chapel, Florida, is our October Monthly Mission Partner. This mission meets to grow people in the Word as Jesus makes hearts healthier and lives more fruitful. At Citrus Grove Church, God himself does the gardening. Donations to Citrus Grove Church go directly to support the church’s work in southern Florida.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Westside Stride
Our Westside Christian School community fundraiser, the Westside Stride, was an exciting community-building event. We raised $33,514, plus an anonymous donation of an additional $25,000, for a grand total of $58,627! Again, a big shout out of thanks to our sponsors and to the team of volunteers who helped make the event so successful. We thank and praise God for the gifts he has given us. May we be good stewards of these gifts, and we ask his guidance as we plan to use them to his glory!
Kitchen help needed | Part-time paid job opportunity
