Rules for a reset
Isn’t it nice to have an opportunity to reset? This might come with a new house, new job, or new school. For Noah and his family, it came with a new world. After the flood, everything went through Noah. His family established the beginning of culture and civilization. God gave some rules for this reset. Read through them in the first part of Genesis 9. But even in our age, what better time than the present to commit to reestablishing ourselves as God-fearing people? Let’s examine the abundant blessings of our lives and consider how we are responding to God’s immeasurable grace. Join us for worship Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Call meeting Thursday
Westside and St. Andrew have plans to call for the position of School Music Program Director and Children’s Ministry Director. It is a full-time shared position between the school and church ministries. This person would fulfill duties with Westside such as overseeing the music curriculum in the school and helping to lead music programs in other areas. As Children’s Ministry Director, this person would assist in many programs under the direction of Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad. The two main responsibilities would be to work with the Plugged into Jesus program and the St. Andrew Summer Camp.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Livestream this weekend
If you are unable to make it to worship this weekend, we will be offering a livestream option at both the 8:00 and 10:30 AM services this Sunday, October 20. This is just a trial run, so if you make use of the online option this weekend, please note on your online check-in which service you livestreamed. Any questions? Reach out to Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.
New children’s worship bag display
Many of our children have been enjoying the new worship bags that have been out for a few weeks now. This week we received our new display for these bags. A big thank you to Leroy Brandt for building us this beautiful new shelf! With so many children in God’s house, we needed more bags for worship, and we are very grateful for his building expertise. Fresh bags will hang from the hooks to be picked up on your way into church, and used bags can be put in the bin below them on your way out of church.

Testimonies of gratitude
God’s grace and his blessings are new every day. If you find yourself swept away with gratitude, consider being video interviewed for our Thanksgiving worship services. It won’t take long, and it doesn’t have to be scripted. Pastor Hunter will simply sit with you and have a conversation about gratitude and your reasons for it. If you’re interested, send a note to [email protected], or write it on your Connection Card. We’ll follow up and schedule a time that works for you.
Adult choir in October
Blend your voice with others to sing God’s praise. We’ll rehearse at 7 PM on Wednesdays in the Soul Café to sing for worship on:
- Sunday, November 3 (rehearsals will be October 16, 23, & 30).
- Sunday, December 15 (rehearsals will be December 4 & 11).
High school-aged and older are welcome to attend. Interested in participating? Email Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

St. Andrew’s online giving transition is Sunday!
On Sunday, the St. Andrew online giving platform is moving to Pushpay. On or about October 17, members who give recurring gifts through CCB will receive detailed email instructions from Pushpay and members of the St. Andrew financial team (Dick Bernards, Amy Hutter, Ron Kerr, and Todd Ninman). Please read through the email and follow the instructions to set up your recurring gift in Pushpay and cancel the corresponding scheduled gift in CCB. If your giving is linked to your bank account, you will need to provide your bank’s routing number. Click here for a list of local banks and their routing numbers.
If you do not give recurring gifts online through CCB, no action is required.
Contact [email protected] with any questions.

Fall is in the atrium
Don’t let the brisk mornings discourage you from gathering for worship. How blessed we are with opportunities to come together for mutual growth and encouragement. As an added bonus for the next two Sundays, enjoy a cup of pumpkin spice coffee. It will be in the java’s normal location, waiting for you as you enter the atrium.
Paid bus driving opportunity—it’s easier than it looks!
The St. Andrew/Our Redeemer bus route to Lakeside Lutheran High School is looking for a driver for both before and after school routes. The job is roughly 6:30 AM – 4:15 PM on school days, but the bulk of that is free time for you. A second vehicle is provided for you to go about your day between the shifts. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Monthly Mission Partner
WayForward Resources is our October partner. This local organization provides several social services to the western Dane County area, including hosting a large food pantry. St. Andrew will be participating in a food drive later this fall. Look for details soon. Find more information about WayForward (formerly Middleton Outreach Ministries) at their website.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
The partnerships continue
A couple of weeks ago, parents of Westside Christian School had the opportunity to meet with their children’s teachers in parent-teacher conferences. Oftentimes, parents might approach these with some apprehension because they might not know what is going to be discussed. Teachers may also be apprehensive about such meetings because they might not be sure of what parents are bringing to the table. One of the things that sets Westside apart from other schools is the close relationships that our parents have with the teachers and staff. Knowing that everyone is working together for a common goal helps both parents and teachers. Some may think that the common goal is a sound education. That is true. Westside does provide a very solid education. However, more important than just the education is the eternal education about life in heaven that is being taught each day. There is nothing more our teachers want for their students and families than to stand side by side in heaven someday. That is why the partnerships we maintain are so vital. Westside will continue to work on all its partnerships in order to strengthen relationships with each other, but more importantly to strengthen our relationship with our Savior. |
