This Week
The God whose I am
In the storm, Paul referred to “the God whose I am.” In other words, “I’m his.” You don’t say “My Jennifer” or “My Owen,” unless he or she is your son, daughter, or spouse. You don’t use that term unless you’re close, unless your relationship is intimate. Paul says what you can say in the storm, “I know I’m his. I belong to him. He’s mine and I’m his. He loves me. He’s committed to me.” How can you say that in your storm? This Thursday or Sunday, gather with the saints at St. Andrew to understand why that’s true and to grow in your conviction of it. We worship on Thursday at 7 PM and on Sunday at 8 and 10:30 AM.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Teen devotions
Spending meaningful time with your teenager is very important. Here is a way to help you and your teen spend meaningful time with God’s powerful Word. Once a week, read and discuss a WELS teen devotion. Try these questions: What does this devotion cause me to confess? What does this devotion encourage me to do? What does this devotion teach me about God?
Impact
There are so many ways to describe Jesus. Have you thought of this one? Master Teacher. In John 4, we see the Master Teacher in action in his life-changing conversation with a Samaritan woman at a well. Here is part 2 with Dr. Stephen Geiger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details about PowerHour, click here. The next PowerHour is October 21 at 10:30, and the theme is “Shapes and Colors.”
Children’s ministries
Bring your child to a Sunday morning Nurture ministry. This week’s Plugged into Jesus and Spark lesson is about Saul becoming king. Some earthly kings are good, and some are bad. In Jesus, we have a perfect king.
- Musikgarten | for parents (or a caregiver) and their child up to age 3 (9:20 AM)
- Plugged into Jesus | Pre-K3 – grade 5 (9:20 AM)
- Spark | grades 6 – 8 (9:30 AM)
All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the love he has for them. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required.
FUEL
Are you able to tell when someone is telling you a lie? No matter how skilled you are at scoping out a liar, the devil presents a major challenge. Lies of the devil is the topic this Sunday. FUEL is a high-school-age St. Andrew Growth Group that meets Sundays at 9:30 AM. This ministry provides a place for teens to ask questions and talk about life in the light of God’s Word.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Westside Stride
Our Westside Christian School community had a blast at the fun run last week, raising almost $30,000. Additionally, that means we’ve reached our goal for the $25,000 matching donation. All of those funds will be used for mobile S.T.E.A.M. kits, more books for our classroom libraries, a new indoor volleyball net, field trips, and an outdoor classroom space. The kids have earned all of the school-wide awards and are looking forward to enjoying pajama day, a movie and popcorn, and bounce houses in the gym over the next few months. We are blessed beyond measure to have such wonderful and involved families supporting all of our WCS students. |
