This Week
Intense love
In the third part of the series on . . . no, no, just kidding! Solomon’s Song of Songs 8:5-7 continues to describe the love of a man and a woman, but we can learn from some of its details about the love of God for his bride, the church. Join us Thursday at 7 PM or Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM and see the intense love of God that surpasses even the amazing love of a committed married couple.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Grieving together
Losing a loved one hurts. There is a new Growth Group at St. Andrew to support those who are grieving such a loss. This group will be meeting from 7:00 – 7:30 online on Monday evenings for encouragement, devotion, and prayer. We will use this book by Dr. Stacy Hoehl, a professor at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Use this link to register for the group. We will begin October 16. Let’s do our grieving together.
A Morning for Your Marriage | 9:00 AM, Saturday, October 21
Want to grow in your appreciation for each other? Those who appreciate God’s kindness are always looking for ways to express their appreciation to God for his friendship. One way followers of Christ do that is by building friendships with each other. Witness Jesus overcoming enemies that would have prevented your friendship with God, identify four foes of friendship to your marriage, assess your fondness and admiration for each other, and commit to ways you’ll express appreciation for each other. Can you think of a better way to spend Saturday morning? Register here by Sunday, October 15.
Awake and Alive
Young adults need Jesus just like we all need Jesus. Awake and Alive is a ministry that serves the 18 – 25 age range by providing an encouraging Christian community. Check it out here and tell the young adult in your life.
Impact
The truth found in Scripture helps us realign thoughts and emotions that can get spiritually distorted. This week, Professor Luke Thompson is our guest, and he presents 13 Truths as a framework for spiritual care. You can listen to Impact here or on popular podcast platforms by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Thank you, St. Andrew
Martin Luther College gained a unique student this fall. Greg Foote, St. Andrew member, enrolled as a non-traditional student with a plan to train to be a pastor. Greg and his wife, Iris, and their two boys moved to New Ulm in August. St. Andrew was able to help them through the MLC congregational grant program. Here’s part of a recent thank you card from Greg:
“By God’s grace I made it through a very overwhelming and demanding first month. I count that as an amazing blessing. I am very grateful for your financial support, another amazing blessing from God.”
Well done, St. Andrew!
Part-time janitorial positions available
St. Andrew and Westside Christian School are blessed to have high usage and activity. With that comes lots of responsibilities, including routine cleaning, tidying, and stocking. If you have a little extra time, even just a few hours a week, and would like to earn some extra money, consider picking up some janitorial hours. All your training will be provided, and the hours can be flexible. Contact our lead custodian or Pastor Clinton.
Service opportunity | indoor painting
With staff personnel shifts, some walls and doorways were removed/created this summer, creating some uneven coloration and an opportunity for you. If you would like to serve by painting a few walls totaling about one small room, contact Pastor Clinton.
Service opportunity | woodworking
Do you have any woodworking expertise at all? Do you want to help enhance the season of focusing on Christ’s passion for the whole family of St. Andrew? Then we have an opportunity for you, and the best part is you can do as little or as much as you want. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
WELS Historical Institute | live or online presentation October 15
See a presentation of Our Great Heritage: Worker Training Schools, which will highlight the history of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, looking at some of the major events and developments in the history of the institution as framed by the history of the synod. Emphasis will be on what has changed and what has remained the same. Attend the presentation at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon or view the livestream at 3:00 PM on October 15. Find more information about WELS Historical Institute at their website.
Monthly Mission Partner
October’s partner is Christian Aid & Relief, an organization of our church body whose mission is to reflect Christ’s love and compassion to souls suffering from disasters and hardships. Because of what Christ has freely done for us, we eagerly show we care by offering our time, talents, and treasures to those in need. For a better idea of what CAR does, view the video below.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Call meeting | October 22
The Board of Directors has scheduled a voters’ meeting at noon on Sunday, October 22, to call a special education teacher for our ministry of Westside Christian School. This will be a new role in our school, beginning in the 2024 – 25 school year. This teacher would take over the lead teaching of two ELA sections of middle school (grades 5 – 8). The rest of the day would be spent helping teachers make academic modifications, communicating with parents, supporting students who have learning goals, providing academic intervention, or even co-teaching in classrooms. The Board of Directors and the School Council have considered the need and agree on the exciting opportunities for ministry this called worker will provide. For further information or a position description, please reach out to Principal Meredith Pucci. |
