This Week
The End
If the book you’re reading has drawn you in and made you feel like a part of the story, “The End” makes your heart sink. What? No! You knew it was coming. You felt the pages in your right hand getting thinner. And you vow to read the sequel, or watch the next season, as soon as it’s available. You’ve held the Acts of the Apostles study book in your hands for two years. You’ve felt it getting heavier on the left side and lighter on the right side. Now here we are: “The End.” Read it for yourself, Acts 28:17-31. Draw your own conclusions about what to make of it. Then gather with your fellow Acts sojourners this Thursday or Sunday to thank God for the gifts he’s given us in this book and to find ourselves in its ending.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Call update
Our Staff Minister for Nurture, Mr. Mark Kjenstad, has returned the call he received to Divine Savior Academy.
“Jessica and I look forward to continuing our ministry at St. Andrew. We are blessed with the privilege of serving among you. We are thankful for the prayers and encouragement we received while evaluating where to serve. Please say a prayer that the Lord would send a worker to serve the kingdom in Doral, Florida.”

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Thanksgiving worship | Grateful for Grace
In September a new song based on Philippians 4 was released. “ Rejoice” reminds us that, in every season, we have every reason to praise the Lord. That truth is an anthem for life, but especially this November. Give the song a listen and then join this “family of grace” for Thanksgiving worship as we give thanks to the Creator of all things.
- Wednesday, November 23, 6:30 PM (livestream available)
- Thursday, November 24, 9:00 AM
(no Thursday evening worship)
Save the date | Children’s Christmas Program
Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 PM, the children of St. Andrew and Westside Christian School will present their Christmas program at the Middleton Performing Arts Center. Mark your calendars and join us as the kids “Get Ready for Christmas.”
Milestones
Called Worker anniversary
Every November, we celebrate milestone anniversaries of our called workers. This year, we give thanks for the 10 years of ministry by first grade teacher Ashley Renstrom and for forty years of ministry by kindergarten teacher Karen Hong.
Confirmation
This past weekend we had the joy of celebrating the confirmation of Oliver Povich. Oliver, with his parents, Jon and Liesl, finished his catechism lessons, but the Lord is far from finished with the spiritual growth of Oliver. To God be the glory!
Oliver’s confirmation passage: “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Advent by Candlelight returns
Women of all ages are invited to attend Advent by Candlelight, a faith-building and faith-encouraging service. Mark your calendars for December 11 at 6:30 PM, and watch for sign-up information. Christmas is coming, and this special night with God’s Word will help our hearts be in the right place.
Impact
We can learn how to pray by looking at prayers in Scripture. There is a gem at the end of Acts 4 worthy of our attention. Listen to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Professor Sam Degner break it down. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
Plugged into Jesus update
Plans have changed. Plugged into Jesus students will NOT be singing in worship this week. A new date has not yet been decided, but the date will certainly be after Christmas.
Children’s ministries
Bring your child to a Sunday morning nurture ministry. This week’s Plugged into Jesus and Spark lesson is about David giving glory to God. We will direct the children to follow David’s lead.
- Musikgarten | for parents (or a caregiver) and their child up to age 3 (9:20 AM)
- Plugged into Jesus | Pre-K3 – grade 5 (9:20 AM)
- Spark | grades 6 – 8 (9:30 AM)
All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the love he has for them. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required.
FUEL
FUEL is a high-school-age St. Andrew Growth Group that meets Sundays at 9:30 AM. Encourage your teen to be an active member of this faith-building group. The Word is always at work at FUEL.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Save the date | Pastor Clinton Kreuziger’s installation
A date has been set for Pastor Kreuziger’s installation, so mark your calendars and save the date for Sunday, January 8! He will be installed as Pastor for Service & Outreach in worship services that weekend followed by a welcome party that afternoon. Stay tuned for many more details to come. Clinton and Michelle and family are due to arrive in Middleton sometime in mid-December.
“Thanks be to God”
One way we thank God for his physical gifts is by sharing them with others. This Thanksgiving, we can do that through MOM (Middleton Outreach Ministry). Find the Top Ten list of most helpful items here. On their website you can also find clothing most needed. Please take your gifts either directly to MOM, or bring them to St. Andrew on Thursday or Sunday, November 17 & 20. Members of The Love of Christ (TLC) Care Ministry will box up the items and take them to MOM at 10:30 AM on Sunday, November 20.
MOM’s top 10 most needed items

2. Gluten-free cereals (Honey Nut Cheerios, Cheerios, Rice Chex)
3. Saltine crackers or no-salt crackers

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Voters’ meeting
We are so thankful for the growth of Westside Christian School and are excited to share that we have a record 33 kindergarten students this school year! To accommodate the continued learning of these students for the 2023-24 school year, we will be calling for a second 1st grade teacher who will work closely with Mrs. Renstrom. The Board of Directors has set a special call meeting of the St. Andrew Voters’ Assembly. The meeting will be held via Zoom at 6:30 PM tonight, Wednesday, November 9. If you would like to attend, you can join the Zoom meeting here. |
