This Week

Thanksgiving series | God Is at Hand
This weekend begins a four-part series leading up to Thanksgiving. We will take time to pause and acknowledge the countless blessings God pours into our lives each day. It’s easy to get caught up in routines and overlook his hand at work. Through this series, we’ll learn to see God’s activity in every moment, person, and circumstance.

This weekend, Genesis 8:15-21 prompts us to reflect on the importance of thanking God for a significant moment. In the weeks that follow, we’ll give thanks for the people God places in our lives (Philippians 1:3-11) and for the fruits of faith we see around us (Colossians 1:3–14). Finally, on Thanksgiving, we’ll gather to celebrate the greatest gift of all, God’s grace in Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 1:12-17). Each week will include an activity to help you reflect on how God’s hand is at work in your life.

Ahead of this weekend, read Genesis 8:15-21. Then join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

St. Andrew 50th anniversary
We recently celebrated St. Andrew reaching the half century mark. What a blessing! Many of the pieces of St. Andrew’s history will still be available for browsing in the atrium through this weekend, including the St. Andrew Ministry Moments booklets that are yours to keep. You can also view the slide show of all the photos collected for the occasion.

A Place of Peace

Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project

Construction update
Fear not! The new building will not be permanently bright green – although it certainly gets your attention from the beltline. Next week the masonry work will begin on the exterior of the building and continue for the next few weeks. Inside the new building, underground work will be completed soon and the concrete slab will be poured. You may have noticed some of the ceiling in the current atrium is missing. Many connections will need to run through those openings from the current building to the new building so that will remain open for a while.

Parmenter street construction is complete! We are grateful to the city of Middleton for improving that road.

A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”

Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Adult choir resumes November 12
Blend your voice with others to sing God’s praise. We’ll rehearse at 7 PM on Wednesdays in the Soul Café to sing for worship on Sunday, December 7. Rehearsals will be November 12 & 19 and December 3 (no rehearsal on Thanksgiving Eve).

High school-aged and older are welcome to attend. Interested in participating? Email Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.

Save the date | Koiné Christmas concert
We are excited to announce that the Christian band Koiné will be coming to St. Andrew on Saturday, December 6 at 4 PM to present their “Emmanuel Lux” Christmas concert featuring our very own music intern, Atticus Lawrenz, on drums. Mark your calendars and watch for more information as details are being finalized.

Milestones
Emma Brandt and Adler Weiss were confirmed last weekend. How blessed we are to witness the spiritual growth of our youth. Please continue to encourage and pray for Emma, Adler, and their families. In the coming months, see if you can spot Emma serving on the greeter team and Adler serving in the A/V booth.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

20’s and 30’s
There are lots of events coming up that might interest the young adult crowd. Check them out here.

Impact podcast
Those who share the gospel are called “jars of clay” and they are prone to a lot of damage. However, their contents are a precious treasure. The “jars of clay” reference is from 2 Corinthians 4 and it is the focus of this week’s episode. Our guest is Pastor Larry Schlomer, who helps send clay jars all over the world. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

PowerHour on Friday
PowerHour returns this Friday, November 7, at 10:15 AM. “Fall Festival” is the theme. PowerHour is for parents and their young children, up to age 4. Click here to learn more about PowerHour.

Service & Outreach

Monthly Mission Partner
Our November partner is Kingdom Workers, a national nonprofit organization whose goal is to address the physical and spiritual concerns of communities. They are perhaps best known for two programs: Builders for Christ and Jesus Cares. Find more information about Kingdom Workers at kingdomworkers.com.

WELS Connection
Every month, our church body releases a video to highlight a specific project or ministry of some of our brothers and sisters in faith. October’s video, focusing on congregations, is the second in a series of four that provides some details of the synod’s 10-year plan to address ministry challenges in today’s world.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Retirement announcement | Mrs. Hong
Dear St. Andrew and Westside Christian School Family,

It is with a thankful heart and deep gratitude that I am announcing the news of my upcoming retirement from full time teaching, effective June 30, 2026. I have been very blessed to have taught here at Westside since the school began. Thank you for entrusting me with your children. I have treasured teaching the kindergartners God’s Word and the many other subjects throughout the years. It has been a true blessing that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

I want to thank all the families and staff for the continued prayers, encouragement, and support. I will cherish the memories and friendships and countless ways that God has worked through each of us at Westside. I pray that God continues to bless St. Andrew and Westside Christian School during this very exciting time of growth for the church and school. I look forward to remaining a member here and watch the bountiful blessings that the Lord bestows on St. Andrew and Westside Christian School. I take comfort in the words of Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

In Christ,
Karen Hong

Call meeting
Westside Christian School needs to fill some classrooms with teachers next year. We will be calling a kindergarten, a 4th grade, and a 5th grade teacher. With that in mind, there will be a call meeting on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM in room 110. Hope to see you there!

Connections
Connections is a 3rd grade program that works to connect Westside Christian School students and St. Andrew members. On Friday, November 7, there will be another opportunity for you to attend and have a great time playing games and getting to know the 3rd grade students of WCS. If you plan to attend, please let Mrs. Plath know (612.616.1760 or beth.plath@westside-christian.org).

Veterans Day celebration
Westside Christian School will again honor our veterans and active military on Tuesday, November 11. If you are a veteran or active-duty military, please consider joining us on Tuesday from 8:15 – 9:00 AM. We would love to honor you and your fellow military members and thank you for your service.

Fresh look
Over this past long weekend, while the teachers were at teachers’ conference in Milwaukee, the Westside playground got a fresh look. It had been years since new mulch was brought in. In the process, the old mulch had to be removed and new ADA approved mulch was brought in. In addition, the mulch area was extended to provide a much larger play area for the students.

A thank you to Friends of Westside for all the work that was done and for raising the funds for a project like this could take place.
