This Week

Come All You Unfaithful
An interviewer asked a British philosopher, “What’s wrong with the world?” He replied, “I am.” He got it right. It’s been that way since the fall. But Jesus came to the fallen and made us right. And when he returns, he’ll make the broken world whole again. Join other broken believers this Sunday at 8 & 10:30 AM. Cling to God’s promise this Advent season—Christ is born for you.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Vision sessions
Above all, we seek Jesus’ direction for his church. To do that we pray, study our culture, evaluate our opportunities, and listen to each other. It’s an ongoing process, but for the past few months servants of St. Andrew have been developing a plan for the next phase of carrying out the mission Jesus has given us. It’s an exciting thing to contemplate together how he might use us and how we might serve people. You’re invited to sit with a few people and a St. Andrew leader to give your feedback on our Vision either on Sunday, December 4, or on Sunday, January 8, 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. Next week, we’ll include in the Weekly a video introduction and a link to the Vision document. “Thank you, Lord of the Church, for calling us into such a privileged time. Give us courage and boldness to pursue avenues by which you will build your kingdom.”

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Christmas decorating
This Sunday, November 27, following 10:30 AM worship, we will decorate the sanctuary and atrium for Christmas. If you enjoy the Christmas season, come at 11:45 AM on Sunday and join in on the fun! Questions? Contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.

Poinsettia order
One way to get the sanctuary ready for the Christmas season would be through your donation of a Christmas poinsettia. The cost is $14 per plant and can be picked up following Christmas Day worship. Orders can be made here and are due December 14.

Children’s Christmas Program rehearsals
Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 PM, the children of St. Andrew and Westside Christian School will present their Christmas program at the Middleton Performing Arts Center. There are a few important rehearsals coming up for those participating:

  • Tuesday, November 29, 6 – 7 PM, at St. Andrew (grades 2 – 8 only)
  • Saturday, December 3, at the Middleton PAC
    • 9:00 – 9:30 AM—Pre-K3 – grade 1
    • 9:30 – 11:00 AM—grades 2 – 8

If your child is interested in participating in the program but has not received the practice materials, please contact Minister of Nurture Mark Kjenstad.

Singing opportunities
Blend your voice with others for two upcoming services. The Adult Choir will rehearse at 7 PM on Wednesdays to sing for worship on the following dates:

  • Pastor Kreuziger’s installation, Sunday, January 8 (8 & 10:30 AM)—rehearsal will be January 4

High-school-age and older are welcome to attend. Questions? Email Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Grow in Grace
“I worry that I worry too much.” That is the next series coming to Grow in Grace. This whole church Bible study will give you encouragement to worry less and trust more. This 4-part series is December 11 and 18 and January 15 and 22 at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary. Childcare will be available in the gym beginning at 9:25 AM.

Advent by Candlelight
God gives perfect gifts. At this year’s Advent by Candlelight service, women of all ages are invited to reflect on these gifts in an evening of prayer, song, and fellowship. Join us Sunday, December 11, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, and invite a friend too! Sign up here. Contact Yvonne Onsager with any questions.

Advent Home Devotions
And he shall be called . . . During the Wednesdays in December, take time to worship with a St. Andrew Advent Home Devotion. These short video devotions will be available through a link in the Weekly. Christmas is coming, and these devotions will help keep your attention on the child in the manger. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Impact
Gratitude comes so easy to us as Christians. However, it doesn’t come so easy to us as sinners. Listen to senior seminary student Joel Hopper teach us lessons on gratitude from the true story of Jesus and the ten lepers. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

Children’s ministries
Bring your child to a Sunday morning nurture ministry. This week’s Plugged into Jesus and Spark lesson is about the building of the temple by King Solomon. The temple makes us think about the worship of the God of our salvation.

  • Musikgarten | for parents (or a caregiver) and their child up to age 3 (9:20 AM)
  • Plugged into Jesus | Pre-K3 – grade 5 (9:20 AM)
  • Spark | grades 6 – 8 (9:30 AM)

All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the love he has for them. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required.

FUEL
Talking to others about Jesus—it’s that thing you should do but have a hard time doing. At FUEL on Sunday, we will share tips and techniques to make it easier. FUEL is a high-school-age St. Andrew Growth Group that meets Sundays at 9:30 AM. Encourage your teen to be an active member of this faith-building group.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Thanksgiving food drive
Thank you to all organizers, transporters, and contributors to this year’s food drive for MOM (Middleton Outreach Ministry). We were excited to bring them 480 pounds of food and supplies. To God be the glory!

Help with childcare
Are you willing to serve parents who want to attend Listening Sunday and/or Grow in Grace by watching their children? Dates are December 4, 11, and 18 from 9:25 – 10:15 AM. If you would like to help on any or all of these days, contact Mr. Kjenstad.

Pastor Clinton Kreuziger’s installation and card shower
A date has been set for Pastor Kreuziger’s installation, so mark your calendars and save the date for Sunday, January 8! He will be installed as Pastor for Service & Outreach in worship services that weekend followed by a welcome party that afternoon.

Over the next several weeks, let’s fill a box with gift cards and cards of encouragement to bless Clinton and Michelle as they move to the area to serve among us. We will then present them with the gifts at the installation party. If you would like to participate, there is a card box in the atrium with their names on it.

December Monthly Mission Partner
Our December Mission Partner will be the Local Assistance Fund. The Love of Christ (TLC) ministry team works with this fund to provide love where it is desperately needed. This may come in the form of a handwritten note, aid for those who are homeless, spiritual counseling, or money for car repairs, gas, or food. The Local Assistance Fund could help someone you know or those who drop in looking for assistance. You and our volunteers make this happen. Thank you!

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Call returned
Miss Cassie Krug has returned her call to WCS and will continue her ministry at Life Lutheran in Friendswood, Texas. Her letter is below.

Members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church,

Receiving and holding a call is a humbling and exciting experience. It has given me the opportunity to reflect on my current ministry at Life Lutheran and also consider continuing my ministry at Westside Christian. I am so appreciative to each and every one of you for your prayers.

At this time, HE has led me to return my call as first grade teacher at Westside Christian, as my work at Life Lutheran is unfinished. St. Andrew Lutheran Church and Westside Christian will continue to be in my prayers.

Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as the LORD guides your future called workers to Westside Christian.

In Christ,
Miss Cassie Krug

Voters’ meeting
The Board of Directors has set a special call meeting of the St. Andrew Voters’ Assembly to call for a second 1st grade teacher. The meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 30. If you would like to attend, you can join the virtual meeting here or to join by smartphone, dial +1 929-324-9695 and enter this PIN: 957 353 783#.
