This Week

Deo volunte
What do you worry about? At the risk of being simplistic, doesn’t it seem that our worries are either about not getting what we want, getting what we want and then losing it, or getting what we don’t want? Worry isn’t always sinful, but some of it can be. Ancient Christians used the Latin, “deo volente” (God-willing) to temper their expectations and, thus, their worry about the future. That might help, but only if the phrase comes from the heart and is more than just a pious platitude. In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches us about worry. Read Matthew 6: 19-34 and then join fellow worriers Thursday night at 7:00 or Sunday morning at 8:00 or 10:30 to sort it out together.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Farewell (for now) to the Hunters | June 8
Join us on June 8 for Pastor Hunter’s last service at St. Andrew and his installation in a new ministry. WELS Home Missions Administrator Mark Gabb and Pacific Northwest District Mission Board Chairman Pastor Kevin Schultz will commission Pastor Hunter for his role in Boise, Idaho. Then, at noon, there will be a fun celebration on our campus with a picnic (ribs, chicken, burnt ends, cheesy grits, baked beans, green beans, coleslaw, and dessert) and bouncy houses for kids.

June 8 Adult Choir
Join your voice with others on June 8 as the Adult Choir sings for Pastor Hunter’s commissioning and Pastor and Karen’s farewell. Rehearsals will be Wednesday, May 28 and June 4 at 7 PM. If you are interested in singing with the choir, contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Mission Possible with Mr. Aaron Wakeman was recorded. Thank you, Dan Wasmer. Here is the video link, and here is an audio-only link. We have officially booked part 2. Mr. Wakeman will return to Grow in Grace on December 14.

Children’s Ministry Day
Due to summer construction at St. Andrew, Science Camp will have to wait until 2026, but St. Andrew is having an off-site Children’s Ministry Day. Children in kindergarten – grade 6 are invited to Garner Park on Wednesday, July 23, to learn about Jesus: The Light of the World. Children will be dropped off for a 3:30 start. At 5:30, parents are invited to return for a hot dog cookout and celebration service. Register here.

Impact podcast
The ending of Jonah is very abrupt. It teaches us something about ourselves. Pastor Clinton from St. Andrew is here to explain. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Service opportunity | Pre- and post- carpet cleaning June 1/3
All you have to do is move stuff. We will begin moving things off of carpeted areas at noon on Sunday, June 1. Then, the items need to go back to their places on June 3 in the afternoon/evening. If you’d like to be a part of either crew, please contact Pastor Clinton.

Help serve at Hunter farewell
If you’d like to help with the Hunter farewell on June 8, contact Pastor Clinton. There will be a number of ways to serve, including with kids, setup, cleanup, and logistics.

Second grade Makers’ Market
Second grade students wrapped up their social studies economic unit with a Makers’ Market. They worked hard to produce goods, advertise, and then sell their merchandise. ALL $465 of their earnings were given to A Place of Peace campaign. Well done, second grade students! To God be the glory!
