This Week

Lord, teach me . . .
If you could ask Jesus for anything at all, what would you ask him? His disciples once asked him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” They must have noticed something about how he prayed and wanted to know more. So Jesus taught them what we call “The Lord’s Prayer.” Jump back into our study of the Gospel of Matthew this Thursday or Sunday and let Jesus teach you through his Word and through the prayer he taught his followers. Read Matthew 6:5-15 (page 45 in the study booklet) and join fellow pray-ers to better appreciate and practice the gift of prayer. Get ready by clicking here and reading Luther’s explanation to each of the requests, or petitions, of the Lord’s Prayer. Join us Thursday evening at 7 or Sunday morning at either 8 or 10:30.

Call for Lead Pastor for Preaching & Vision
Pastor Meyer continues to consider whether he will remain in Rochester or join the ministry of St. Andrew. You can read his letter acknowledging this call below.
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Members of St. Andrew Lutheran,Thank you for extending me the call to serve you as your Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision. I’m glad that God has blessed you with a strong desire to reach out and to nurture with His Word.

Thank you for sharing some excellent initial information about your church, school, and ministry plans. God has blessed your ministry. I’m glad to see you continue to look outward to your community and forward with planning. I look forward to learning more about your church and the ministry opportunities God is providing.

If you have encouragement or advice, I will find them helpful and appreciate them very much.

I will be spending time in prayer over these calls. I ask you to please do the same. Please pray for me, my family, and the two congregations. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide me to a decision that is God-pleasing and best serves Christ’s kingdom.

In Christ’s service,
Pastor Stephen Meyer

A Place of Peace

Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project

Campaign total announcement
Those still intending to make a pledge to A Place of Peace are asked to submit it by Thursday, May 29. On June 1, we will announce the total amount raised/pledged for the project.Summer worship update
As you may have heard, we WILL be able to stay on-site for worship this summer. In order to make that happen, we will be starting construction on the north parking lot on Friday. There will also be some construction on the east side of the parking lot in the next few weeks. This should give us enough parking for worship services during the summer when the rest of the parking lot closes. Praise God for prayers answered.

Parking lot construction | Phase 1
As mentioned, phase 1 of the parking lot construction starts Friday, May 23, and runs through Monday, June 9.

  • Most of the current parking lot will be usable during this time period.
  • Main entrance will continue to be open until June 20.
  • North lot and the retention ponds will be started.
  • East parking spots, retention pond, and new Schneider Road entrance will be started.

Silas Leuthner, friend of Victoria Volberg and student at University of Minnesota, Mankato, asked to be baptized at St. Andrew because of the faith he discovered here. May the Spirit who brought Silas into his kingdom of grace continue to fill him with faith and strength throughout his Christian life.

Bishop Laine Engel, son of Zeth and Alyssa, was born on Friday, May 16, and born again into new life through the Spirit’s work in baptism on Saturday, May 17. We look forward to celebrating his baptism together as a church in a few weeks.

Calvin Livingston Schroeder was born on Monday, May 12, and baptized into Christ on Tuesday, May 20. Calvin was born a few weeks early, but is healthy and strong. He will need to spend a few weeks in the NICU while he grows a bit.

Last Sunday 75 people attended Mission Possible and received strategies and encouragement for sharing the truth we hold about Jesus. One attendee said, “This was awesome! I was engaged from start to finish and learned so much about sharing the good news about Jesus.” Sunday’s presentation was recorded and will be available in next week’s The Weekly. The plan is in place for our presenter, Mr. Aaron Wakeman, to return for Mission Possible part 2 in December.

Children’s Ministry Day
Due to summer construction at St. Andrew, Science Camp will have to wait until 2026, but St. Andrew is having an off-site Children’s Ministry Day. Children in kindergarten – grade 6 are invited to Garner Park on Wednesday, July 23, to learn about Jesus: The Light of the World. Children will be dropped off for a 3:30 start. At 5:30, parents are invited to return for a hot dog cookout and celebration service. Register here.

Impact podcast
Did Jonah really get swallowed by a fish and stay alive for three days? Pastor Clinton Kreuziger from St. Andrew answers that question and helps us understand the whole story. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Bid farewell
Westside Christian School is wrapping up another year. What a blessing it has been to serve our students and families during this past year! The end of the school year is always bittersweet as we bid farewell to 21 of our 8th grade students.

Last week, they took their final field trip. For three days they enjoyed time together doing a variety of activities. We wish all of them God’s richest blessings in the future. We pray that they remain close friends with each other but most importantly with their Savior, Jesus.

Congratulations WCS graduates!
