This Week
What do the “The Beatitudes” mean to you?
This week we come to Matthew 5:1-12, one of the most famous sections of the Bible, the Beatitudes. They sound so appropriate and so honorable. And they are. But when you read them, you must also be horribly unsettled. What do we do when we haven’t lived them out? Find an answer in this the first and longest of Jesus’ sermons we have on record. Read Jesus’ introduction to his sermon on the mount, then gather with others seeking to live out the Beatitudes and find an answer to what to do when we don’t. We worship on Thursday at 7 PM and at 8 and 10:30 AM on Sunday.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
A Place of Peace weekly update
- A team met this week to continue planning opportunities for St. Andrew to support A Place of Peace.
- A design development team met to begin looking at the layout and functionality of each room in the new addition. Site work (earth movement, parking lots, landscape, etc.) is all being finalized as well. Look for additional building drawings soon.
Next steps
Last week, Pastor Hunter informed us of his acceptance of a two-year call to serve as a Mission Developer in Boise, Idaho. He plans to continue serving here until sometime in June. We are working with our District President, Pastor Michael Jensen, to call another pastor to serve as our Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision. This week, we sent him important information about the roles this pastor will have and characteristics we believe would be important in the man we call: ministry descriptions, accountability charts, relationship charts, and more. We believe the ability to develop, clarify, update, and pursue common vision is critical. We are grateful to Pastor Jensen for his faithful service and guidance to us in this process. We are more grateful for a church body that gives us confidence in the theology and practice of any man we call. But we are most grateful that the Holy Spirit tells us he is the one who will provide the shepherd we seek in his timing. Our Board will work with Pastor Jensen to obtain a list of qualified men from which we will call. We can’t yet give a timeline for placing a call, but are anticipating being ready to call a pastor. Meanwhile, the Spirit has blessed us with faithful and gifted servants who will continue serving us through this transition time.

Impact podcast
This week we learn from the story of Judah and Tamar. This relatively unknown Genesis account shows us the ugliness of sin in contrast with the beauty of God’s grace. Pastor Erich Schaser, a teacher of God’s Word at Fox Valley Lutheran High School, is our guest. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service roles to be filled
Do you get the impression that there’s no place for you to serve? There is. Below are a few of the teams that could get you involved in service right away. See Pastor Clinton to serve.
- Audio—mostly turning mics on and off and up and down. It may seem intimidating, but it just takes a little bit of training.
- Sunday 10:30 AM slides—controlling what is on the screens. It’s mostly about paying attention and pressing buttons.
- Thursday ushering—helping worshipers get what they need and making sure service runs smoothly
WELS Connection
Every month, our church body releases a video to highlight a specific project or ministry of some of our brothers and sisters in faith. Last month’s video focuses on our synod’s effort to plant 100 new mission churches in 10 years.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our March partner is GiGi’s Playhouse, a Down syndrome achievement center in Madison. Down syndrome is very rare, but its population among the St. Andrew family is well above the average. GiGi’s recently sent a video to share some of what they do and express their gratitude.
