This Week

Value of life and soul
If something “costs too much,” that could be about price or about value. It might be that you don’t have enough money, but it might also be that you don’t think it’s a fair trade. The wisdom that guides these decisions is human wisdom, but we need guidance from God’s Word when it comes to the value of our souls. Thankfully, we have it. Read Matthew 16:21-28 and join us for worship Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Pastor for Outreach call
Pastor John Borgwardt will soon announce a decision concerning his call to serve as our Pastor for Outreach. Whatever the outcome, we know that God’s will is done.

A Place of Peace

Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project

Construction update
Many interior finishes are being worked on right now. Drywall, mudding, and texturing were finally finished last week. Painting of the sanctuary and atrium ceilings began this week so the acoustical ceiling panels in both spaces can be installed soon. Casework drawings are being reviewed and finalized along with doors, keys, and many other interior finishes.

A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”

Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Wednesday Lent devotions | Father, Forgive
This Lent, in a series called “Father, Forgive,” we meet six people who needed forgiveness from the cross as we follow Jesus to it. By considering Christ’s prayers for their behavior, we gain insights into our own temptations and shortcomings and give thanks for the Father’s forgiveness. Gather with brothers and sisters on the four remaining Wednesdays of Lent. Stay for dinner provided by one of our St. Andrew Best Chefs from 5:30 – 6:15 PM. Livestream will be available at 5:00 PM. Please note the menu change on March 11.

  • March 4: Forgive our resentfulness | Best Chefs Dan and Sarah Arndt will serve macaroni and cheese and cheesy grits (GF available)
  • March 11: Forgive our dissent | Best Chef Lauren Figi and guest Hall of Fame Beef chefs will serve New York strip loin, spring vegetable pisto, potatoes, and brownies. (GF available)
  • March 18: Forgive our contempt |Best Chef Jane Dew will serve breakfast sandwiches (GF available)
  • March 25: Forgive our misplacement | Best Chefs Dwayne and Stacy Kratt will serve white chicken chili (GF)

If you would like to help decorate the sanctuary for Easter with the purchase of an Easter lily, please place your order by March 21. You can do so by filling out the online form here or by picking up an order form at the Welcome Center. Flowers can be taken home following Easter worship on April 5.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

WELS Devotion
A wonderful way to nurture your faith is by reading or listening to the WELS daily devotion. You can have it sent to your inbox or add the app to your phone. Use this link to get started.

WELS International Youth Rally fundraiser
Teens will be offering specialty coffee at St. Andrew on March 22 instead of March 15. It will be available prior to each service. If you would like to contribute, please consider donating with cash. Click here for more information on the rally.

Impact
Jesus is called many things in Scripture, including the second Adam. That is Romans 5 language. Our guest this week has taught Romans in the classroom for 35 years. He has plenty to teach us about Romans 5. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

PowerHour
The next PowerHour is Friday, March 6, with a surprise theme. PowerHour is for parents and their young children. It begins at 10:15 in the St. Andrew gym. For more information on PowerHour, click here.

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

LWMS Convention coming to Madison
The 63rd Annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society Convention is June 25 – 28 in Madison at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. It features workshops, devotions, fellowship, and much more. There will also be many opportunities to serve both before and during; if you are interested in serving, please contact Amanda Taticek. Visit 63.lwms.org for more information about the convention.

Service opportunity | Easter breakfast
Thanks to a lot of individuals and Growth Groups, the remaining Lent dinners are well covered, but various opportunities to help with Easter breakfast remain, including on the Friday and Saturday before. Sign up here to serve in this way (or to help with March 18, which still has a few openings).

Teen mission trip to Rock Hill
The time to apply will be coming soon, so please contact Pastor Clinton if you are or have an interested teen or are interested in leading the trip. This year’s trip is June 20/21 – 26. We will be sending a group back to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to help lead a smaller church’s science camp.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our March partner is Gio’s Garden, a local nonprofit organization that provides respite care for young children with special needs. Find more information at giosgarden.org.

Westside basketball
Most of the Westside Christian School basketball teams have wrapped up their successful seasons. There were wins and some losses, but there was a lot of growth in skills as well. Thank you to the coaches, parents, and players for their dedication and hard work this year!
