This Week

One of the most attractive things about Christianity
Have you ever been called a prude for the way you think about sex and marriage? Or maybe for not going along with the messages many movies and much music send about sex and marriage? The living Jesus has something to say to us about that. If we listen to him, we’ll find the most relevant, free, and attractive way to think about everything in life. Read Jesus’ plan in Matthew 5:27-30. You’ll know why it’s pretty safe to say you won’t fall asleep in church this weekend. Join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

We are already anticipating the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday! If you would like to help decorate the sanctuary for Easter with the purchase of Easter flowers, please place your order by March 30. You can do so by filling out the online form here or by picking up an order form at the Welcome Center. Flowers can be taken home following Easter worship on April 20.

Milestones
A February article stated that Luka Joseph Buhr, son of Leah (Wolf) and Kyle Buhr, was to be baptized the following weekend. It was delayed, but Luka was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit on March 15.

Margaret Onsager, mother of Paul Onsager, heard Jesus’ kind words of grace, “Welcome home, my child,” this past week. A Christian funeral service, to celebrate her 91 years of God’s grace and to remember the promises of Jesus, will be held this Sunday at 4 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Lent devotion
Our Savior is described in many wonderful ways. Here is a Forward in Christ devotion with words from the prophet Zephaniah that describe our Savior as a mighty warrior. Check it out and be blessed from time spent in God’s precious Word.

St. Andrew Science Camp
Science Camp is back. This summer, campers will learn about God’s creatures, great and small. There will be lessons from God’s Word, experiments, snacks, and more. Science Camp is July 14 – 17 from 8:30 – 11:30 AM and is open to kindergarten – grade 6. Register here. When you register, note the special opportunity for grades 5 – 6. If your child in 7th or 8th grade wants to serve as a helper, reach out to Yvonne Onsager.

Impact podcast
Part two of the Joseph story continues with the up-down pattern of this faithful man of God. After being placed in charge of Potiphar’s household, a false accusation lands him in prison. Listen to Pastor Jon Bilitz, Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel, apply this true story to your life. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

PowerHour
The next PowerHour is April 4 with a fun theme of “Habitats of the World.” New friends are always welcome. PowerHour is at 10:15 AM in the gym. Go here to learn more about this ministry for children.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

LWMS Rally March 29
The Capitol Circuit Spring Rally will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. Registration starts at 8:30 AM, and opening devotion is at 9:00. The main speaker is Pastor Paul Schupmann (Resurrection, Verona) presenting on our church body’s effort to start 100 Missions in 10 years. Contact Amanda Taticek with questions.

Service opportunity | Wednesday Lent meals and Easter breakfast
There are still opportunities to assist with the Wednesday Lent meals. Easter is also a great opportunity to serve. We will need people willing to prep, serve, and clean, as well as main cooks. If you or your Growth Group is interested, sign up here.

Service opportunity | Brat Fest
St. Andrew will again be a Brat Fest charity. Volunteers interact with the community and earn donations for St. Andrew’s ministry. Opportunities are from May 18 – 25, and registration begins April 5. Find more information about Brat Fest at bratfest.com.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our March partner is GiGi’s Playhouse, a Down syndrome achievement center in Madison. Down syndrome is very rare, but its population among the St. Andrew family is well above the average. GiGi’s recently sent a video to share some of what they do and express their gratitude.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Call updates
We called Miss Michele Diener for the second class of grade 3 next year. We also called Mrs. Sarah Durkee to replace Mrs. Krista Simmons. Mrs. Simmons has resigned her call for next year as she is expecting in early June.

We rejoice with Dr. Mielke as she has returned her call to East Fork Lutheran in Whiteriver, Arizona, and will be continuing her ministry here at Westside. Please keep Dr. Mielke and all the teachers at Westside in your prayers. Read her letter below.

Dear Family Members in Christ at St Andrew Lutheran Church/Westside Christian School,

Over the last weeks, I have had the blessing of learning about the ministry at East Fork Lutheran in Whiteriver, Arizona. The lengthy time of deliberation between the call that East Fork sent me and the call I presently serve at Westside Christian has allowed me to wrestle with where the Lord would have me serve. God has provided me with unique life experiences and different opportunities to serve him, and my time at Westside has also been a time of continued growth. I am humbled that God uses me in his service.

At this point in time, I feel the Lord is guiding me to remain at Westside Christian School. This was an incredibly difficult decision to make, but I know that God will bless the world mission ministry at East Fork and provide for their needs as he has for us here in Middleton. I’m blessed to be teaching here and ask for your continued prayers for all of our called workers, both here and elsewhere.

In Christ’s Service,
Dr. Tammy L. Mielke

Fine Arts Week
Our students at Westside Christian School have been blessed with musical and artistic talents. This week, many of our musicians are taking an opportunity to display their talents for others. We are so thankful to all the music teachers for their time and effort with the students.

There is also an opportunity for you to see the artistic talents of the students at WCS. Many art projects will be on display Friday evening from 5 – 7 PM and also on Sunday morning. Take a moment to view those projects.
