This Week

Father, forgive our half-hearted hosannas
As we gather for Palm Sunday, we recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem: triumphant, yet understated. The shouts of praise were soon revealed to be half-hearted, as are so many of ours. Read Philippians 2:5-11 to see Jesus’ wholehearted approach. Then join us at the beginning of Holy Week – Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Holy Week worship services

Upcoming call meetings
Our next call meeting for a 5th grade teacher at Westside Christian School is Thursday, March 26, at 6:00 PM in Room 110.

Our next call meeting for Pastor for Outreach is Sunday, April 12, at 11:45 AM in the sanctuary.

All are invited to call meetings to discuss the qualities, gifts, and fit of the different candidates provided by synod officers. The voters of St. Andrew then choose one to whom to extend the call. If you are unable to attend, please keep our ministry and this process in your prayers.

A Place of Peace

Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project

Construction update
As part of A Place of Peace, the entire building will have a new sprinkler system installed. In February, the dry pipes were installed in the elementary wing classrooms. Last week while Westside Christian School was on spring break, the middle school wing classrooms and gym were completed. Work will continue into the summer to complete the entire building.

A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”

Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Thank you
St. Andrew members,

We would like to thank you for your support at our coffee cart fundraiser on Sunday. Your generosity is overwhelming—we are financially well on our way to Bowling Green State University in Ohio for the WELS International Youth Rally this July. The Lord provides! Hopefully your coffee tasted good and FUELed (see what we did there?) your Sunday activities, and you enjoyed the treats provided as well. Thank you once again!

Sincerely and gratefully,
FUEL Teens

Parents’ Night Out
Our FUEL students are planning one more fundraiser for their trip to the WELS International Youth Rally this summer. On Saturday, April 11, parents can drop their children off at St. Andrew and enjoy a night out. Children ages 3 – 12 are welcome from 4 to 8 PM. Food and drink will be provided. Use this link to sign up. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Small Talk
Small Talk will return with a brand-new episode just in time for Easter. You will be able to access our Easter episode through The Weekly (or wherever you listen to podcasts) on Wednesday of Holy Week. Host Rachel Kamin is excited to welcome our special guests Esme and Sky. Click here to learn more about Small Talk.

Impact
This week we have more tough questions for and great answers from Pastor Nate Wordell on the Judas story. Pastor Wordell is on staff at Wisconsin Lutheran College. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

PowerHour
The next PowerHour is Friday, March 27, with an Easter theme. PowerHour is for parents and their young children. It begins at 10:15 AM in the St. Andrew gym. For more information on PowerHour, click here.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Service opportunity | Easter breakfast
Various opportunities to help with Easter breakfast remain, including preparatory work next Friday and Saturday (April 3 and 4). Sign up here to serve in this way.

Service opportunity | Brat Fest
St. Andrew will be a Brat Fest 2026 charity. Volunteers interact with the community and earn donations toward St. Andrew mission trips and/or the teen youth rally. Every day May 17 – 24 has many opportunities for individuals, families, or Growth Groups. The sign-up goes live on April 4.

Service opportunity | baptism blankets
Have you noticed how blessed St. Andrew is to have so many young families? Since 2007, St. Andrew has a tradition of giving baby blankets to our youngest members at their baptisms as a keepsake of their special day and a reminder that they are redeemed children of God. In that time, 256 baptized children have received blankets.

In addition, the group makes a baby blanket donation to the Care Net Pregnancy Center, a local organization that supports women with unexpected pregnancies. More recently, lap blankets have been made for homebound members of St. Andrew.

This ministry has opportunities for growth. If you have the gift of knitting, crocheting, quilting, or hand-tying, please consider sharing your craft with this team. Contact Lois Solverud for more information.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our March partner is Gio’s Garden, a local nonprofit organization that provides respite care for young children with special needs. Find more information at giosgarden.org.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Mr. Karl Kuschel has returned his call to serve in Lewiston, Minnesota, as a 7 – 8 grade teacher. We are thankful that Mr. Kuschel will continue to serve at Westside Christian School.

Job opportunity | Westside Christian School administrative assistant
We continue our search for a new administrative assistant for Westside. If you have any interest in this position, please contact Principal Daniel Plath (612-239-8447).

Track and boys’ volleyball begin
Westside students have begun practices for track and field and boys’ volleyball. We look forward to following these two groups of athletes throughout the season.
