This Week
Use your senses
“Wow!” is a familiar response when we see, hear, or experience something amazing. In our lives, “Wow!” is exclaimed at seeing a natural wonder, the birth of a child, or an incident of historical importance. None of these can compare, though, to what three disciples witnessed on top of a mountain when Jesus was transfigured before them. In Matthew 17, we both see the Son of God revealed in all of his glory and hear his encouragement to us about how to react to his majesty. Join us for worship at 7 PM on Thursday or 8 or 10:30 AM on Sunday.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Pastor for Outreach call
Pastor John Borgwardt has declined the call to serve at St. Andrew. The Ministry Leadership Team will work with District President Jensen to establish our next call meeting. Note that it may be after Easter due to a brief call freeze when no calls can be issued. The text of Pastor Borgwardt’s letter is below:
Dear President Kamin, Pastor Kreuziger and members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church,
It has been a privilege looking at the well put-together documents regarding the call to St. Andrew in Middleton and having conversations with leaders in the congregation. St. Andrew is a very blessed congregation in so many ways! I particularly thank you for your prayers and the time you took from your schedules to talk with me about it.
After looking at everything involved, especially the timing of a pastoral vacancy at Living Word, the Spirit has led me to return your call to be Pastor for Outreach. The Lord of the Church will continue to bless your work as you reach out with his gospel.
In the risen Christ,
Pastor John M. Borgwardt

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Construction update
Interior spaces are really taking shape. A brand-new cross, which St. Andrew member Duane Ehlke is crafting, will be at the front of the new church. You can see the wood sample in the first picture and where it will hang. The cross in our current sanctuary will move to the new atrium and hang on the wall as you enter the church. Behind the chancel area where the pastors stand, the flooring is being built. This area will house the Communion setup and store other worship items.

A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Wednesday Lent devotions | Father, Forgive
This Lent, in a series called “Father, Forgive,” we meet six people who needed forgiveness from the cross as we follow Jesus to it. By considering Christ’s prayers for their behavior, we gain insights into our own temptations and shortcomings and give thanks for the Father’s forgiveness. Gather with brothers and sisters on the three remaining Wednesdays of Lent at 5:00 or 6:30 PM. Stay for dinner provided by one of our St. Andrew Best Chefs from 5:30 – 6:15 PM. Livestream will be available at 5:00 PM.
- March 11: Forgive our dissent | Guest Hall of Fame Beef chefs will serve New York strip loin, spring vegetable pisto, potatoes, and brownies. (GF available)
- March 18: Forgive our contempt |Best Chef Jane Dew will serve breakfast sandwiches (GF available)
- March 25: Forgive our misplacement | Best Chefs Dwayne and Stacy Kratt will serve white chicken chili (GF)

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
WELS International Youth Rally fundraiser
Teens will be offering specialty coffee at St. Andrew on March 22 instead of March 15. It will be available prior to each service. If you would like to contribute, please consider donating with cash. Click here for more information on the rally.
Forward in Christ
The March issue of Forward in Christ is in the atrium. Each month, FIC offers wonderful Scripture-based articles on timely and relevant topics. Please help yourself. In this month’s issue you will find the following topics:
- A teen drifted away from Christ and returned as an adult because of an invitation.
- Does God have my entire life planned out?
- Promises from God for overwhelmed parents
- Is he nothing more than a hypocrite?

Impact
Mental health challenges include stress, anxiety, and depression. Pastor Mike Novotny is here to offer gospel-centered support and encouragement for all who battle the challenges of mental health. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
PowerHour
Due to spring break at Westside, there is no PowerHour on March 20. The next PowerHour is Friday, March 27, with an Easter theme. PowerHour is for parents and their young children. It begins at 10:15 in the St. Andrew gym. For more information on PowerHour, click here.
Sunday Morning Children’s Ministries
Sunday morning children’s ministries will not meet on Sunday, March 15. This break coincides with spring break at Westside. We are giving our leaders a one-week break. All of these ministries will return on March 22. Please say a prayer of thanks for all who serve as leaders of Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, Spark, and FUEL.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Service opportunity | Easter breakfast
Thanks to a lot of individuals and Growth Groups, the remaining Lent dinners are well covered, but various opportunities to help with Easter breakfast remain, including on the Friday and Saturday before. Sign up here to serve in this way (or to help with March 18, which still has a few openings).
Teen mission trip to Rock Hill
The time to apply will be coming soon, so please contact Pastor Clinton if you are or have an interested teen or are interested in leading the trip. This year’s trip is June 20/21 – 26. We will be sending a group back to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to help lead a smaller church’s science camp.
WELS Connection
Our church body releases a monthly video update of an inspiring or interesting ministry or initiative. Last month’s video highlights Martin Luther College’s congregational grant matching program. The majority of our synod’s called workers attend Martin Luther College. Currently, two St. Andrew members are Martin Luther College students participating in the grant matching program.
Monthly Mission Partner
Our March partner is Gio’s Garden, a local nonprofit organization that provides respite care for young children with special needs. Find more information at giosgarden.org.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Call news
We were notified that Mr. Steve Lehman returned his call to teach grade 5 at Westside Christian School. We will have another call meeting Thursday, March 26, at 6:00 PM in room 110.
Spring break is here
There is no school at Westside from March 16 to 20. This is a welcome break for our teachers and staff who work hard every day serving their students and families. The students might appreciate the break, too. You’ll have to ask them. God bless all travelers with safety and good weather. School resumes on March 23.
Job opportunity | Westside Christian School administrative assistant
Mrs. Stacy Bernd has stepped down as Westside’s administrative assistant. We have been blessed to have her for ten years. If you have any interest in this position, please contact Principal Daniel Plath. |
