This Week
Here we go!
Someone admires you, he or she is watching you, learning from you and wants to imitate you. Maybe it’s a friend, or a coworker, or, if you’re a parent, for better or for worse, it’s your child. In a way, that makes him or her your disciple. You’re watching someone and want to imitate someone, too. That makes you a disciple. But in a much bigger and different way, Jesus makes us his disciples. This Thursday at 7 PM or Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM, let Jesus’ words spell out what that means. Hint: “Here we go!”

Returned call
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Members of St. Andrew Lutheran,
Thank you for extending me the call to serve you as your Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision. Your love of Jesus, your vibrant ministry, and your zealous staff and members are evident and so encouraging.
After consulting with called and lay people at St. Andrew and Resurrection & Life, and prayerful deliberation, I have decided to return the call to St. Andrew. This was a difficult deliberation for me. Thank you for your prayers and patience. May God bless both churches and all the people we’re blessed to minister to.
In Christ’s service,
Pastor Stephen Meyer

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Here we go!
The A Place of Peace project came with a price tag of just under $11 million and a need to raise $7.5 million. The St. Andrew family has pledged over $7.9 million, so it’s full steam ahead. Thank you for your sacrifice.
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.
A Place of Peace – green light!
Because of your faith-filled response to our mission opportunities, you have committed enough money for our leaders to responsibly give the green light to the entire building project: a new sanctuary and atrium; new offices for the church staff; four new classrooms; an expanded parking lot; two new parking lot entrances; and several new rooms for small groups, music lessons, and para-educators. Praise Jesus for making us his disciples and giving us hearts committed to what he sends us out to do: make more disciples. Here’s the historic motion that the Board passed last week.
“Upon confirmation of receipt of over $7.5 million in pledges as of May 27, 2025, the Board of Directors hereby approves to proceed with construction of A Place of Peace in full scope as determined in the Proposed Resolution approved by the congregation on February 23, 2025.”
Seconded. Passed.
Parking lot construction | June 9 – 22
Phase 2 of the parking lot construction begins Monday, June 9, and runs through June 22.
- The front entrance to the building will remain open as shown in yellow through June 22.
- Parking for worship is shown in green. You will also be able to park in some of the existing parking lot. More details to be shared next week.
- Parking during the weekdays is shown in light green and is somewhat limited.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Farewell (for now) to the Hunters | June 8
Sunday is our celebration of Pastor Hunter’s 40 years in ministry and his last service as pastor of St. Andrew. WELS Home Missions Administrator Mark Gabb and Pacific Northwest District Mission Board Chairman Pastor Kevin Schultz will commission Pastor Hunter for his role in Boise, Idaho. Then, at noon, join the celebration on our campus with a picnic (ribs, chicken, burnt ends, cheesy grits, baked beans, green beans, coleslaw, and dessert – served 12:00 – 1:30) and bouncy houses for kids. There will also be a card box for the Hunters. If you’d like to help make the day go smoothly, contact Pastor Clinton.
June 12/15 worship plan
A few weeks ago we mentioned that we were unsure if we would be able to worship on-site the weekend of June 15 if the north parking lot wasn’t finished. Thankfully it seems like we WILL have enough parking available to have worship services here that weekend. Praise God for answering prayers!
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.
Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship on this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Children’s Ministry Day
Children in kindergarten – grade 6 are invited to Garner Park on Wednesday, July 23, to learn about Jesus: The Light of the World. Learning activities are being planned for the children that include Bible lessons and craft projects. Children will be dropped off for a 3:30 PM start. At 5:30, parents are invited to return for a hot dog cookout and celebration service. Register here.
Impact podcast
When Jesus sent out disciples, he was up to more than meets the eye. Missionary trainer Aaron Wakeman is here to help us learn from Luke 10. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
LifeBoat bake sale
LifeBoat, our ministry for middle school students, is busy preparing yummy snacks and desserts for you to enjoy on Father’s Day, or any day! All proceeds will go to A Place of Peace. The sale will be June 15 between services. Who can feel guilty buying cookies for such a great cause!

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Service opportunity | outdoor greeters
With construction happening and intensifying soon, we want to make sure our guests (and members) know where to go. We are looking to assemble a team to help direct worshipers to parking and to the entrance before worship services. It’s a role you can do whichever service you attend. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
Brat Fest 2025
Last week saw 15 St. Andrew members, including one Growth Group, make their way to Brat Fest to serve the community and raise funds for St. Andrew mission trips. Thanks to Dan, Sarah, Brent, Brittany, Hannah, Ron, Piri, Steve, Todd, Amy, Kyle, Naomi, Nancy, Wayne, and Dan.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our partner for June is our mission trips. This ministry helps people go to different locations to spread the gospel of Jesus. Typically, we choose mission churches that don’t have a lot of manpower, including the teen trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina, this July. Not everyone goes on mission trips, but you can support them and the churches they travel to with prayers, encouragement, and offerings.
