This Sunday

Get a haircut, even if you don’t need it
Yes, that’s in the Bible. Of course, there’s more to it: respect for the weak, love for your neighbor, sacrifice for others, giving up your rights for the good of others, etc. In a haircut? Read Acts 21:17-26 and see for yourself. Then join fellow saints on earth to witness the activity we begin together here and will continue together in heaven: worship. And you? You don’t need a haircut to come to church.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Call
We have determined four major areas for our gospel ministry: worship, nurture, service and outreach, and Westside Christian School. All are led by a called worker who helps all of us fulfill God’s mission for his church. All except one, that is. At 6 PM, this Thursday, we will call a pastor to serve us by leading the area of service and outreach. All are welcome to listen and to discuss the candidates. We ask the Voters’ Assembly to listen to observations, comments, and desires, and then act as our head and choose the man we will call.

Introducing the new Board of Directors
We’re grateful for the servant-leadership these newly elected men will provide our family of faith. Please pray that God blesses them with all they need to carry out their roles. On July 10, we will install (from top to bottom) Clayton Grow (president), Tom Shepard (vice president), Mitch Hutter (secretary), and Steve Veers (director for properties).

Science Camp serving opportunities
The service people are trickling in. Thank you! It’s time to flood the sign-ups with helpers, from counselors and games, to snacks and crafts, to experiments and puppets . . . When did puppets leak into the plan?  Kids from grades 5 – 8 can sign up to be puppeteers! Email Patty Coffren today and make a splash with puppets.

Stay dry and sign up under the umbrella in the atrium to serve at Science Camp! Questions about serving? Contact Jane Dew.

Science Camp sign-up
Take this opportunity for your children to learn more about our awesome God! St. Andrew Science Camp is July 18 – 21 from 8:30 – 11:30 AM. Our theme is “The Wonders of Water.” St. Andrew Science Camp is for 4K – grade 6. Kids in grades 7 – 8 can serve as Leaders-in-Training. Click here to register. The deadline is today!

Pre-Marriage Workshop
You put time into planning for the dress, the band, the menu, the seating, the invitations, etc.  And as good as it all is, it will all be gone a couple hours after you say your vows. Your marriage, though, remains. Plenty of wedding planning experts and websites offer to help you plan your wedding. Let us help you plan for a marriage that honors God and a lifetime of bringing joy to your spouse. St. Andrew offers two Pre-Marriage Workshops each year to our community.  The next one is on Saturday, July 23. If you’re engaged, you can register now.  Registration closes on Sunday, July 17. This isn’t just for people of St. Andrew. Forward this invitation and the link to engaged couples you know who want to gain valuable skills for a Christian marriage.

Impact
God’s Word does great things in good soil. Listen to part 2 of our conversation with Pastor Mike Novotny about The Parable of The Sower. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

July 4
St. Andrew is putting together a team to help Middleton VFW set out American flags around our community on July 4 to celebrate our independence. This is a great project for students and parents to do together. Flag setup begins at 6 AM and flag takedown is at 5 PM. You can sign up in the atrium or click here. God bless America!

July Monthly Mission Partner
This month we support with our offerings and prayers the Hmong Outreach in Vietnam. In 2011 the Hmong Fellowship Church invited the WELS into Vietnam to help train their church leaders in the teachings of the Bible. Since that time, the Christian Church in Vietnam has grown by God’s grace. The communist government noticed the positive changes and in 2018 invited the WELS to build a theological education center in the capital of Hanoi. We thank God for opening doors to spread the gospel in Vietnam. You can learn more about this mission here.

Thank you from Mission Madison
Dear St. Andrew,

American teens are often seen to be self-centered and lazy. I wish all of you could have seen the young people who participated in Mission Madison last week. They displayed just the opposite—they served with joy and compassion and an unbelievable amount of energy. Thank you for your gifts and support of Mission Madison, our training ground for future missionaries and teen Mission Trips. When Jesus calls, what joy fills heaven when the response “HERE I AM, SEND ME!” is heard. What a blessing to be part of a family of faith who sees outreach as an important part of its ministry.
