This Week

Hard truths
Truth is better than untruth. As we pursue truth in God’s Word, we notice that not everything we find is immediately appealing to us, but the truth being unlikeable does not make it untrue. Let’s shape our hearts to embrace God’s truth because God is good. Read Matthew 7:13-29, and be ready to face (and then embrace) the hard truths of Jesus’ words. Join us for worship Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Annual Plan for Ministry
Each year St. Andrew leaders explore opportunities for gospel ministry, consider our resources, and ask the Lord of the Church to guide us toward 7 – 9 things we will work toward accomplishing, under his blessing. Then we marshal our energy and head toward those results by setting smaller quarterly goals.

In addition to those 7 – 9 things, a church like St. Andrew does many other very good things, so we also develop a detailed Comprehensive Ministry Plan and Budget (CMPB). Some of those details involve our commitment to action. Some involve cost. Some require both.

Printed copies of both the Annual Plan and the Comprehensive Ministry Plan and Budget are available here. Enjoy it, pray over it, consider how you might help carry it out, talk with ministry leaders about your questions, and then join in an Annual Plan Celebration on Sunday, June 22. We’ll gather in the sanctuary, 9:30 – 10:15 AM, for a review of key elements of the ministry we’re asking the Lord to bless.

Farewell (for now) to the Hunters
On June 8, Pastor Hunter was commissioned for a church exploration role in Boise, Idaho. You can see the commissioning here. You can also see a video compilation of the Hunters’ 40 years at St. Andrew. A card box will remain in the atrium through June 22. Please feel free to bring gifts and notes. Also, please indicate a favorite Bible passage in the Bible next to the card box.

Parents’ night out
St. Andrew teens are using their gifts to raise money for A Place of Peace. If you have children and want a night out, check this out! On June 22 from 5 – 8 PM, you can drop off your children at St. Andrew and enjoy an evening out. Click here for details.

Call for Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision
The Board of Directors will soon announce the date of a call meeting for a new Pastor for Preaching and Vision. This will likely take place in late July or August. That will give our District President the time he needs to supply a list of candidates, and it will give us time to observe the ministry with a vacancy to ensure that the desired skills, qualities, and duties of the position are precisely what St. Andrew needs.

A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”

Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Parking lot construction update
Phase 3 of the parking lot construction will begin after June 23. Here are some important details to keep in mind. With the rain this week and a lot of moving parts in the parking lot construction, dates are flexible:

  • At some point after June 23, the front doors will officially close, and the main entrance will move to the north side gym doors. Watch for signage to point you to the correct entrance. The doorbell, keypad, and intercom services will be relocated temporarily to these north gym doors as well so you can enter the building as you normally would.
  • The new north parking lot is almost ready for pavement. When we transition to the new main entrance, there will be pavement in the new lot to walk on.
  • There will be a change in available parking when the interior fences go up. Most of the north side of the parking lot will be usable for worship on Thursdays and Sundays.

Summer travel plans?
With school now officially being out, it’s a good time to review all our worship options. Join us for worship on Thursdays at 7 PM if your summer plans take you away for the weekend. Catch our livestream service at 8 AM on our St. Andrew website (st-andrew-online.org) to worship with us remotely while traveling. Or join us in person at 8:00 or 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Children’s Ministry Day
Children in kindergarten – grade 6 are invited to Garner Park on Wednesday, July 23. Our focus is Jesus: The Light of the World. Children will make a candle and learn about lesser lights like fire and the sun. They will learn new songs and play fun games. Drop off your children for a 3:30 PM start. At 5:30, parents and guests are invited to return for a hot dog cookout and celebration service. Find more details and register here.

Serving Opportunity
Children’s Ministry Day is July 23 from 3:30 – 7:00 PM at Garner Park in Madison. Would you like to help bring this ministry to children of St. Andrew and the community? You can serve with food prep, as a group leader or game organizer, or in other ways. Contact Yvonne Onsager for details.

Impact
We are back in Genesis this week, specifically back with Joseph, Jacob, the brothers, and Pastor Jon Bilitz. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Service opportunity | outdoor greeters
With construction happening and intensifying soon, we want to make sure our guests (and members) know where to go. We are looking to assemble a team to help direct worshipers to parking and to the entrance before worship services. It’s a role you can do whichever service you attend. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.

WELS Connection
Every month, our church body releases a video to highlight a specific project or ministry of some of our brothers and sisters in faith. Last month’s video focuses on a newer WELS effort: annual leadership conferences, which are for anyone, not just organizational leaders within our churches.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our partner for June is our mission trips. This ministry helps people go to different locations to spread the gospel of Jesus. Typically, we choose mission churches that don’t have a lot of manpower, including the teen trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina, this July. Not everyone goes on mission trips, but you can support them and the churches they travel to with prayers, encouragement, and offerings.
