This Week

Built on the grace of God
Throughout his ministry on earth, Jesus would go into “teaching mode”–using simple, everyday stories to teach important lessons about eternity and life. He does just that in Matthew 20. In the parable of “The Workers in the Vineyard,” we learn that everything we are and have are Built On The Grace of God. That includes the forgiveness of our every sin. That includes the reality of our salvation in Christ alone. Please join us for worship on Thursday at 7 PM or Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Celebration Sunday and Voters’ meeting
Join us at 9:30 AM on Sunday, June 21, to celebrate the ministry our God has done among us and through us. We will review the previous year and preview the blessings we are asking of our God in the coming year.

The following week, at 11:45 AM on June 28, in our annual voters’ meeting, we will vote to approve the Comprehensive Ministry Plan and Budget (CMPB) the leaders of St. Andrew have developed. In addition to several larger items we believe our Lord is calling us toward, the CMPB includes many details that commit to action and/or monetary expenditures. Another agenda item at the meeting is electing new members of the Board of Directors, as they serve two-year terms.

Call deliberation
Pastor Doug Van Sice and his family are considering the next phase of ministry, whether continuing at Huntersville Lutheran Church near Charlotte or joining the ministry of St. Andrew as Pastor for Outreach. A typical timeline would yield a decision by the end of the month. Please keep the Van Sices in your prayers.

A Place of Peace

Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project

Construction update
Final preparations are being made in the new building for the flooring installation. The classrooms are going up quickly! Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are being finalized before the drywalling begins later this week.

Naming contest | New room!
You have ONE week to submit your name ideas for what is currently called the multipurpose room. This room will be used in many ways, including adult education, Grow in Grace, Growth Groups, and housing the church library. Keep in mind that we hope to have the ability to temporarily divide this room into two spaces someday so it can be used as one large space or two smaller spaces. Voting for both of these rooms will begin next week.

A Place of Peace giving
What a blessing to be just a few months away from occupying and utilizing the new spaces, thanks to God’s work through so many contributors who allowed us to exceed our campaign goal of $7,500,000. If you’re new to this and would like to contribute, go to st-andrew-online.org, click “Give” at the top of the page, and use “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund” or memo line. You can also place your contribution in a St. Andrew offering envelope and check “Ministry Expansion.” Contact Financial Administrator Ron Kerr with further questions.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Pickleball outing
The first ever St. Andrew pickleball outing was a racket. Ten players enjoyed friendly competition. It doesn’t matter if you are on your way to the pro circuit or if you want to learn how to play. You are welcome to come and have a ball with us. Click here to reserve your spot for the next round of pickleball fun at Taylor Park in Middleton on June 24 from 6 – 8 PM. This is for players 18 and older. The sign-up deadline is June 21.

Stuff Swap
The St. Andrew Moms’ Growth Group is having a Kids and Family Stuff Swap on Saturday, June 27, from 9 AM – 12 PM at St. Andrew. Signs in the atrium provide more details. The best part? There will be a freewill donation benefiting Care Net Pregnancy Center of Dane County. The second best part? Coffee and bagels will be available while you swap.

Forward in Christ
The June issue of Forward in Christ is in the atrium. Each month, FIC offers wonderful Scripture-based articles on timely and relevant topics. Please help yourself. In this month’s issue you will find the following topics:

  • My Devotional Life—Three Christians share what they do to spend regular time with their Savior.
  • Q and A—Is it wrong to relax?
  • Commentary on the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin

The Rich Young Man
Pastor Clinton had a wonderful message on the difference between human dependency and dependance on Jesus for our salvation. His message was based on interaction between Jesus and a rich young man in Matthew 19. Here is an Impact episode with Pastor Aaron Dolan, now a professor at Martin Luther College, on that same section of Scripture.

Impact podcast
This week is part two of the messy story of Jacob and Esau. Pastor John Boggs is our guest. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Service opportunity | outdoor grounds project
We need to move some dirt! If you’d like to get outside on a Saturday or Sunday (TBD) to work with your hands, a shovel, and maybe a wheelbarrow, please contact Pastor Clinton with your available dates and times. A small crew should be able to knock it out pretty quickly.

Independence Day service opportunity
A St. Andrew tradition is to help Middleton VFW set out American flags around our community on July 4 to celebrate our nation’s independence. This is a great project for individuals, groups, or families, and the VFW makes a donation to St. Andrew. Flags are picked up around 6 AM at the Middleton VFW (just east of Metro Market, etc.) and then set out at various locations. The flags are returned to the VFW between 5 and 5:30 PM. Help with either or both. Contact Pastor Clinton to join this effort.

LWMS Convention opening and closing worship
The 63rd Annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society Convention will be at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison June 25 – 28. All are welcome to attend the opening worship service at 7 PM on June 25, and the closing worship service at 8:30 AM on June 28. Visit 63.lwms.org for more information.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our June partner is Time of Grace Ministry. Time of Grace uses a variety of media to tackle topics Christians need to talk about but often don’t and to encourage people to love everyone God made and everything God wrote in the Bible. View more information at timeofgrace.org.
