This Week
Good Judgment
“Don’t judge me!” has become a societal mantra, but we must not believe that all judging is bad because of phrases like “use good judgment.” This weekend we resume our study of Matthew, so take a look at 7:1-12. You’ll notice Jesus himself said “stop judging.” What did he mean? What is good judgment. Find out this weekend. Join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Farewell (for now) to the Hunters
Last Sunday, Pastor Hunter was commissioned for a church exploration role in Boise, Idaho. You can view the commissioning here. You can also see a video compilation of the Hunters’ 40 years at St. Andrew. The card box will remain in the atrium until June 22. Please feel free to bring gifts and notes. Also, please indicate a favorite Bible passage in the Bible next to the card box.

Annual Plan for Ministry
Each year St. Andrew leaders explore opportunities for gospel ministry, consider our resources, and ask the Lord of the church to guide us toward the 7-9 things we will work toward accomplishing, under his blessing. Then we marshal our energy and head toward those results by setting smaller goals for us each quarter.
In addition to those 7-9 things, a church like St. Andrew does many, many other very good things. So, we also develop a Comprehensive Ministry Plan and Budget (CMPB). This is the big one, with more details. Some of those details involve our commitment to action but no cost (such as a new group to welcome guests, visit shut-ins, etc.), and other details involve cost but no commitment to action (such as utilities, property management services, etc.). Some require both.
You will be able to receive a printed copy of the Comprehensive Ministry Plan and Budget this weekend, June 12 & 16. Enjoy it, pray over it, consider how you might help carry it out, talk with ministry leaders about your questions, and then join in an Annual Plan Celebration on Sunday, June 22. We’ll gather in the sanctuary, 9:30 – 10:15 AM, for a review of key elements of the ministry we’re asking the Lord to bless.
Call for Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision
The Board of Directors will soon announce the date of a call meeting for a new Pastor for Preaching and Vision. This will likely take place in late July or August. That will give our District President the time he needs to supply a list of candidates, and it will give us time to observe the ministry with a vacancy to ensure that the desired skills, qualities, and duties of the position are precisely what St. Andrew needs.

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Truly extraordinary
Our A Place of Peace campaign was shorter than a standard campaign of such scale. It also came relatively soon after a separate expansion project. It was considered likely to raise barely half the $7.5 million target; even $5 million was said to be a great stretch. In campaigns like this, only 2-3% raise over 6x annual income, but you did, St. Andrew. You are a people convinced of God’s grace and peace; therefore, you have no choice but to see that this message goes out to the world, starting right here in Dane County.
Groundbreaking
This past Sunday we were able to have a groundbreaking ceremony over the location where the doors leading into our new sanctuary will roughly be located. In case you missed it, you can watch it here.

Plants and retaining wall available
The large St. Andrew sign will soon be removed along with the current plants and retaining wall. If you are interested in any of the remaining plants or retaining wall bricks around that large sign, please come and remove them by the end of the day on Sunday, June 15.
A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.
Parking lot construction | June 9 – 22
Phase 2 of the parking lot construction begins Monday, June 9, and runs through June 22.
- Interior fencing in the parking lot will now be put up next week, June 16, so we should have access to most of the parking lot through this coming weekend.
- The front main entrance will remain open through June 22.
- Beginning June 23, the main entrance will move to the north side gym doors. Watch for signage to point you to the correct entrance. The doorbell and intercom services will be relocated temporarily to these north gym doors as well.

Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Summer travel plans?
With school now officially being out, it’s a good time to review all our worship options. Join us for worship on Thursdays at 7 PM if your summer plans take you away for the weekend. Catch our livestream service at 8 AM on our St. Andrew website ( st-andrew-online.org) to worship with us remotely while traveling. Or join us in person at 8:00 or 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Children’s Ministry Day
Children in kindergarten – grade 6 are invited to Garner Park on Wednesday, July 23, to learn about Jesus: The Light of the World. Learning activities are being planned for the children that include Bible lessons and craft projects. Children will be dropped off for a 3:30 PM start. At 5:30, parents are invited to return for a hot dog cookout and celebration service. Register here.
Parents night out
St. Andrew teens are using their gifts to raise money for A Place of Peace. If you have children and want a night out, check this out! On June 22 from 5-8 PM, you can drop off your children at St. Andrew and enjoy a night out. Click here for details.
Impact podcast
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for their sin, which was no worse than our sin. We are saved only by the grace of God. Pastor John Boggs, a teacher of God’s Word at Luther Preparatory School, is here to offer thoughts on sin and grace, punishment and salvation. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
LifeBoat bake sale
LifeBoat, our ministry for middle school students, is busy preparing yummy snacks and desserts for you to enjoy on Father’s Day, or any day! All proceeds will go to A Place of Peace. The sale will be June 15 between services. Who can feel guilty buying cookies for such a great cause!

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
What a party!

Service opportunity | welcome music manager
Do you have a passion for worship music and very basic knowledge of technology? We are looking for someone to manage the music that sets the tone for members and guests as they enter the building. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
Service opportunity | outdoor greeters
With construction happening and intensifying soon, we want to make sure our guests (and members) know where to go. We are looking to assemble a team to help direct worshipers to parking and to the entrance before worship services. It’s a role you can do whichever service you attend. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
Monthly Mission Partner
Our partner for June is our mission trips. This ministry helps people go to different locations to spread the gospel of Jesus. Typically, we choose mission churches that don’t have a lot of manpower, including the teen trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina, this July. Not everyone goes on mission trips, but you can support them and the churches they travel to with prayers, encouragement, and offerings.
