This Sunday
Everything in common
On one astounding day, God led 3,000 people to be baptized. What happened next, though, was more than astounding. It was preposterous and scandalous. It was generous and beautiful. It is, to our ears, almost incomprehensible. Most of all? It was Christian. This weekend, let’s gather together and take a look at the godly decision to have “everything in common.”

Victory
Dennis Unterholzner entered eternal glory on Sunday morning, May 29. Dennis lived in such a way that he left no doubt about his confidence in Christ’s promise of heaven and of a resurrection from the dead. We’ll gather around those promises to celebrate his final victory and find comfort for ourselves. The family welcomes you to join them at St. Andrew for a time of visitation from 9 – 11 AM on Saturday, June 4, and for a Christian funeral service at 11 AM. If you’d like to help with setting up, serving, or cleaning up after the meal following the funeral service, please email info@st-andrew-online.org by 10 AM on Thursday. Thank you.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Summer travel plans?
Join us for worship on Thursdays at 7 PM if your summer plans take you away for the weekend. Another resource to check out is the WELS church locator tab on wels.net. Just click on “Find a Church/School” on the top toolbar, type in the city you’re going to, and find nearby churches in our fellowship. You can also continue to catch our livestream service at 10:30 AM on our St. Andrew website.
Upcoming festival services
Just like we have a calendar year, the Christian Church has a church year that begins with the season of Advent. This church year is split into two parts—the festival half where we focus on the birth, life, and death of Jesus, and the non-festival half which focuses on the life of the Church. The festival half, which we are in now, closes with three special services that continue this weekend:
- The ascension of Jesus into heaven (May 26/29)
- The sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (June 2/5)
- The celebration of the Trinity: Father, Son, Spirit (June 9/12)
Worship Check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Growth Groups
St. Andrew Growth Groups are a wonderful way to nourish the precious gift of faith God has graciously given us and to connect with brothers and sisters in Christ. Summer Growth Groups will begin June 5. The sign-up deadline is today, June 1.
Summer 2022 Growth Groups:
Sundays at 9:30 AM
Gender Identity
We will have an honest, Biblical conversation about this tough topic. Our objective is to better understand the topic, look for Biblical guidance, and learn how to talk to others about gender.
Miserable Joy
Everyone experiences pain. Physical, emotional, mental—pain is common to us all. But you can find joy and purpose in the midst of your pain. That’s the powerful message Jason Nelson brings you in Miserable Joy: Chronic Pain in My Christian Life.
The Chosen—Season 1
The Chosen is a video series based on the earthly life of Jesus. It has become very popular. This group will watch and discuss the movie and also draw attention to what in the movie may not be Biblically accurate.
Redeemed: Our Lives as Sinners and Saints (women’s group)
This book is about shortcomings that people have such as pride, doubt, fear, vanity, and wild living to name a few. It looks at people from Scripture that had them too. The point of the book is to see how sinners with such shortcomings are loved by God and redeemed through Jesus.
Sunday Bible Teaching
This is a Spanish speaking Growth Group.
There is so much more to learn from and benefit from than can be done in 25 – 30 minutes in church. Through a variety of learning activities based on the Sunday Bible teaching, this Growth Group receives more encouragement, more wisdom, and more grace.
Sundays at 1:00 PM
Hiking (or biking) with Paul
Each Sunday we’ll head to a different Dane County hiking or biking trail. Take your choice of walking (Paul’s choice) or biking for one hour. The hiking or biking will be at your own pace. Stay with others or speed ahead—it’s up to you. Individuals or families are welcome. After hiking or biking for an hour we’ll meet at a park shelter for the next hour to apply to our lives the Acts text we heard on Sunday.
Tuesdays at 7:00 AM (men’s group)
Mere Christianity
One of the classics from C.S. Lewis, a gifted writer of the mid-20th century. Mere Christianity is a defense of the Christian faith from this one-time atheist. We will read it with an eye out for some teachings that may run contrary to Scripture.
You can sign up in the atrium or click here. To find more information about St. Andrew Growth Groups click here.
Grow in Grace
We are so thankful for the presenters that God provided for us for our 3-week series Addressing Mental Health. If you are interested in watching these informative and encouraging presentations, they are now available.
Grow in Grace, whole church Bible study, will return with a new topic in August.
Science Camp
Take this opportunity for your children to learn more about our awesome God! St. Andrew Science Camp is July 18 – 21. Our theme is “The Wonders of Water.” St. Andrew Science Camp is for 4K – grade 6. Kids in grades 7 – 8 can serve as leaders-in-training. Sign-up is now open. Click here to register.

Meditations
A great way to nurture the faith God has given you is by reading a daily devotion. A resource for you to consider is Meditations. The current issue takes you through the end of August and focuses on the hope we have in Jesus. You can pick up a copy of Meditations in the atrium.
Impact
The Bible says to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and strength. That’s a lot of love, and God is worthy of all of it! Listen to Pastor John Boggs from Luther Preparatory School explain this encouraging verse from Deuteronomy 6. Impact, a St. Andrew podcast, can be found here and wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
June Monthly Mission Partner
This month with our prayers and offerings we partner with Illume Church in Seattle, Washington. This weekend, Pastor Kent Reeder from Illume will join us for worship and will share more about the mission work being done in Seattle. To learn more about Illume, you can view their website here.
Mission Trips preparations
Our five Mission Trips Trips teams are already preparing for the work they will be doing across the country this summer. We have 38 people going to five different locations including Wesley Chapel, Florida; Seattle, Washington; Brandon, South Dakota; Madison, Wisconsin; and Mahahual, Mexico. The various teams have been meeting and will continue to meet to go over the work they will be doing, the expectations of the trips, and the fun things they will get to do in their free time. May God bless them as they assist other churches in spreading the gospel.
Thank you from Mom
Dear St. Andrew,
Your generous donation of $8,241.00 on May 20, 2022, is giving hope to so many. You make our work to create stability possible, and we are grateful for your compassion and generosity. Your gift will help families through the challenges of job loss, illness, stress, and uncertainty. Nearly half of those MOM serves are children whose lives, during the past two years, were disrupted by school closures and social distancing. Even as we hope the year ahead will be a better one, the need for a stable home and nourishing food will continue to be essential for the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our children and of their families.
All of us will continue to be tested in the coming days, weeks, and months as we work together to serve those who are food and housing insecure. You are providing food for individuals and families when their own pantry is empty and keeping families in their home when there is no money left for rent. Thank you for choosing to share generously with those in our community who must cope with the challenges of poverty and hunger every day.
Thanks for choosing MOM to make such a generous impact! We appreciate all you do!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Ellen Carlson
Executive Director
