This Week

Stand firm
Scripture presents two seemingly irreconcilable truths: (1) we can be confident of our salvation in Christ and (2) we can reject our faith and fall away. Therefore, Paul’s encouragement in 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 is to stand firm and hold onto the truth of Scripture. Join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30 to examine these truths we hold onto. Why should we stand firm?

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Thank you, Summer at St. Andrew helpers
What a fun event! Hundreds of people representing all age groups were on site tossing bean bags, running around the playgrounds, listening to the live music, eating, drinking, and conversing. It would not have happened without the work of many volunteers. Thank you, all who prepped, cooked, and served food and beverages. Thank you, all who set up and took down tables, chairs, and staging. Thank you, Koiné and the St. Andrew musicians who provided music. Thank you, all who lent tents and yard games. Thank you, all who continue to support the ministry of St. Andrew by your offerings. And thank you, all who attended and contributed to the wonderful family atmosphere of this event.

Are you a public school teacher?
We’d like to pray for you and acknowledge the work you’re doing for our society. As our school grows larger, we don’t want to lose sight of the important work you do. If you teach in the public school system, please let us know what school you teach in and what subjects you teach. Email info@st-andrew-online.org. Thank you, and enjoy what’s left of your summer!

Small Talk
Small Talk is back with an all-new episode! Kinsley joins host Rachel Kamin to talk about going fishing, Jesus-style. Give it a listen here or find it wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Small Talk Kamin.”

Grow in Grace
Living without fear—doesn’t that sound appealing? God’s Word can get you there. Join your St. Andrew brothers and sisters for the next Grow in Grace whole church Bible study and learn how to live without fear. This four-week series begins August 6 at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary. All who attend will be given a copy of the book No Fear Year written by Pastor Mike Novotny. Childcare will be provided in the gym.

Moms’ Group
Moms with little ones like spending time with other moms with little ones. That is why a group of St. Andrew moms started Moms’ Group. They are getting together with their children every other Tuesday this summer. To join the group, send an email to St. Andrew Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad.

Impact
In the true story of Jesus walking on water, we see Peter’s fear and Peter’s faith, something we all can relate to. Listen to Pastor Nate Wordell from Wisconsin Lutheran College give us reasons to replace fear with faith. You can listen to Impact here or on popular podcast platforms by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

First Group
Are you interested in learning more about Christianity? Maybe even joining the St. Andrew family? Do you know people who have shown such interest? The goal of this Growth Group is to survey the Bible, see the difference God’s powerful Word makes in our lives, and answer questions you have. The next session will be at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings, beginning September 10. Contact Pastor Clinton for more information. Tell your friends about this upcoming opportunity.

Service role| bakery courier
It’s all about the fancy title, right? If you are someone who usually attends 8:00 worship and/or education hour and are looking for a service role, this might be for you. The task is to get the weekly church donuts to campus on time. It is about a 20-minute time commitment. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.

Golf outing and dinner with Resurrection Lutheran Church
Resurrection Lutheran Church, a sister of St. Andrew in Verona, has a golf outing, social, and dinner planned for September 10 at Pioneer Pointe Golf Course. You can have a good time whether you golf well, not so well, or not at all. Find more information and register here.

Time of Grace event at St. Andrew
Time of Grace, most known for TV sermons, is a media ministry whose goal is to connect people to God’s grace—his love, glory, and power—so they realize the temporary things of life don’t satisfy. St. Andrew will be hosting a casual event in which you can meet Pastor Mike Novotny and hear more about the ministry.

  • 6 – 8 PM Tuesday, August 15
  • Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served.
  • Register by August 3.

Mahalo, St. Andrew!
Words cannot express the deep appreciation and thanks from the family of Hiya Trager to the family of St. Andrew. We lost a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a sincere friend. However, we have the knowledge that Hiya is rejoicing with the saints triumphant, sitting at the feet of her Savior and our Savior. The hope of heaven that Hiya had, and is now living, is the hope that we have as we continue to join Jesus on his mission here on earth while we long to breathe the air of heaven.

Hiya’s family truly felt the ohana of St. Andrew for the last few years and most definitely last week. And for that, we are forever grateful. To God be the glory!

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Preparing for the 2023-24 school year
Summer for our WCS faculty and staff is an opportunity for vacation and time to relax, but our hardworking teachers have also been preparing for the new school year. All staff have been in throughout the summer to get their classrooms in order, plan curriculum, and attend some business meetings. We are also very thankful for the many parent volunteers who are helping to get the building ready to welcome students. The most recent projects include new flooring in rooms 107 and 108.

Our theme for the 2023 – 2024 school year, which starts on August 23, is “Connected.” This is clearly illustrated in John 15:5 when Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches . . . apart from me you can do nothing.” We will build on this theme during weekly Chapel services and encourage students to incorporate what they’ve learned into their everyday connections at school, home, church, and in the community.
