This Week
Worthy
Are you worthy? At times we all think we are worthy of this or that, but God’s Word is clear we are not. This week, St. Andrew member and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary student Andrew Fritz will deliver a message based on Matthew 8:5-17 in which Jesus teaches about the only one who is worthy and what he has done for you. Join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Forward in ministry
Last Sunday, the assembly of voters approved the 2025 – 2026 comprehensive ministry plan and budget, as well as the 3- and 7-year vision. Details can be found here. Join us in thanking God for using each one of us for his great ministry purposes. Then join in the efforts to carry out this ambitious ministry plan.
Parmenter Street road construction
The City of Middleton began construction on Parmenter Street last week, and the south portion of Parmenter Street is now closed.
For weekly traffic to get to St. Andrew it is recommended to take one of these alternate routes:
- From the north, County Road K to Church Road to Schneider Road.
- From the south, Airport Road to Capitol View Road to Schneider Road.
On evenings after 6:30 and weekends you can use one of the routes above or:
- Take Highway 12 to the Parmenter Street Exit #249 and drive around the barriers (it is not recommended to drive on Parmenter Street from the south).
This construction project is between Century Avenue and Greenbriar Road and will last until October. We will keep you updated as we learn more and appreciate your patience.

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Parking lot construction update
We received some good news last week that most of the parking lot and the front doors will remain open through next week yet. Next week (weather permitting), they will pave and stripe the new parking areas. Starting Monday, July 14, the main entrance will finally move to the north gym doors until mid-August. Watch for signage to point you to the correct entrance. The doorbell, keypad, and intercom services will be relocated temporarily to these north gym doors as well so you can enter the building as you normally would.
When visiting St. Andrew during the week, park on the north side of the parking lot between the Kraemer Brothers trailer and the center islands. On evenings and weekends, both sides of the lot can be used. As the parking lot remains open, please be mindful of the construction equipment and areas.
A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Milestones
We rejoice with the Simmons family who saw daughter and sister Hannah Lucia’s baptism. Hannah was born earlier in June and then reborn of water and the Word on Sunday. Continue to pray for Tyler and Krista as they raise Hannah and their other two children in the instruction of the Lord.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.
Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Children’s Ministry Day
Children in kindergarten – grade 6 are invited to Garner Park on Wednesday, July 23. Our focus is Jesus: The Light of the World. Children will make a candle and learn about lesser lights like fire and the sun. They will learn new songs and play fun games. Drop off your children for a 3:30 PM start. At 5:30, parents and guests are invited to return for a hot dog cookout and celebration service. Find more details and register here. Please register by July 13.
Parents’ Night Out
Middle school and high school students from St. Andrew are raising money for A Place of Peace, and parents of young children can help by planning a kid-free night. On Sunday, July 27 you can drop your children off (4 years old up to grade 8) at St. Andrew starting at 5 PM and go do your thing. The only thing we ask is that you remember to return by 8:00. Sign up here.
Here is the link for teens to sign up to help.
Impact
God exposes our sin to prepare us for the gospel of his grace through Jesus. That is what is going on in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Professor Stephen Geiger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary is here to offer great insight into this familiar story. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
FUEL
FUEL is the high school ministry at St. Andrew. They recently had a night of fun that included games, s’mores, and a movie. All teens are encouraged to join FUEL. They have fun and encourage each other as followers of Christ. Email Seth and Delaney Fenske for more details.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Service opportunity | Independence Day
St. Andrew is putting together a team to help Middleton VFW set out American flags around our community on July 4 to celebrate our independence. This is a great project for individuals, groups, or families, and the VFW makes a donation to St. Andrew. Flags are picked up around 6 AM at the Middleton VFW (just east of Metro Market and Prairie Café) and then set out at various locations. The flags are returned to the VFW between 5 and 5:30 PM. Help with either or both. Contact Pastor Clinton to join this effort or sign up here.
Service opportunity | Children’s Ministry Day
Children’s Ministry Day is July 23 from 3:30 – 7:00 PM at Garner Park in Madison. Would you like to help bring this ministry to children of St. Andrew and the community? You can serve with food prep, as a group leader or game organizer, or in other ways. Contact Yvonne Onsager for details.
Service opportunity | outdoor greeters
With construction happening and intensifying soon, we want to make sure our guests (and members) know where to go. We are looking to assemble a team to help direct worshipers to parking and to the entrance before worship services. It’s a role you can do whichever service you attend. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
Nice furniture to a good home
A St. Andrew member has downsized and is willing to donate some furniture in good condition.
- Two matching sofas (one 8′ wide and one 6′ wide)
- Large 9-drawer dresser with big mirror
- Wood (teak) king size bed
- 2 nightstands (for bed)
Contact Pastor Clinton for pictures or if interested.
Monthly Mission Partner
July’s partner is Christian Aid & Relief, an organization of our church body whose mission is to reflect Christ’s love and compassion to souls suffering from disasters and hardships. Because of what Christ has freely done for us, we eagerly show we care by offering our time, talents, and treasures to those in need. For a better idea of what CAR does, go to wels.net/relief.

Miss Emma Nolte brings her talents to Westside Christian School/St. Andrew as the new School Music Director as well as the St. Andrew Children’s Ministry Director. She will be working with Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad as Children’s Ministry Director, primarily working with Sunday morning children’s ministries and St. Andrew’s summer camp.
As Mr. Kjenstad put it, “Miss Nolte is perfect for this dual role, and we are very thankful she will be serving the children at St. Andrew with her many gifts.”
Mr. Plath and Mr. Kjenstad will be “battling” to keep Miss Nolte busy in each area of ministry! |
