This Week
A secret power
The thought of it conjures up images of espionage, intrigue, and shadowy conniving. But when Paul warns the Thessalonians about a secret power, he’s not referring to James Bond. He lays out for us a mystery that we can’t completely unravel, but what we can is immensely helpful. Let’s be humble enough to admit what we can’t know and eager enough to learn what we can. Read 2 Thessalonians 2: 1-12 and gather with the worshipers on Thursday or Sunday to anticipate the splendor of Jesus’ return.

Milestones
Hiya Trager entered eternal glory on Monday, July 17. You’re invited to a public worship service on Friday, July 21, at 11 AM to find comfort in and thank Jesus for the work he did for her and all that it means for her now, and for us. A time for visiting will take place beginning at 9:30 AM, and a luncheon will be served after. You can find her obituary here.
Harriette Moll, mother of Scott Moll, entered eternal glory on July 13. Her Christian funeral will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Columbus, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, July 19. You can find her obituary here.
Summer at St. Andrew
Join us on Sunday, July 23, at 3 PM in our St. Andrew backyard for an afternoon of great music, food, and fun all to the glory of God. What can you expect at Summer at St. Andrew?
- At 3 PM, hear seven different groups of talented St. Andrew musicians perform 90 minutes of fun and family-friendly music.
- At 5 PM the worship band Koiné will give a concert of their best hits as they celebrate 20 years together.
- Food and drinks will be served in the gym: burgers, brats, hot dogs, sides, and Culver’s custard.
- Yard games will be played, and the playground will be open near the music stage.
- Tents, tables, and folding chairs will be available out back.
Bring a lawn chair and a friend. You can even bring your own tent to escape the sun. Join God’s people for Summer at St. Andrew. Koiné will also play for both worship services on Sunday morning.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Worship this weekend
Thursday, July 20—worship (no Koiné) at 7 PM
Sunday, July 23—worship with Koiné at 8:00 & 10:30 AM
Thank you, lead musicians
St. Andrew’s lead musicians—Jonathan Fricke, Kim Gnewuch, Karen Hunter, Kris Lund, Kevin Meske, Madison Kremer, and Melissa Dyer—met with Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs this week to review what went well with the music in worship this past year and what we can look forward to in the upcoming year. Our lead musicians not only play piano or sing for worship, but also do a lot of behind-the-scenes service: assisting in picking arrangements used in worship, scheduling and leading music team rehearsals, encouraging youth and adult musicians, serving at milestone events such as funerals and weddings, and much more. We are so grateful for their leadership in our music ministry! A big thank you to Ava Heckmann who has served as lead musician the past few years. She will be heading off to college this fall, and we thank her for her service.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Small Talk
Small Talk will return with an all-new episode next week. Small Talk is a St. Andrew podcast that features kids sharing the good news about Jesus. Host Rachel Kamin asks the questions, and the kids take it from there. Small Talk episodes run about 10 minutes and are released four times throughout the year. Our newest episode features Kinsley talking about fishing for people, and it will be released July 26. You can’t listen to Small Talk without smiling!
Grow in Grace
Living without fear—doesn’t that sound appealing? God’s Word can get you there. Join your St. Andrew brothers and sisters for the next Grow in Grace whole church Bible study and learn how to live without fear. This four-week series begins August 6 at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary.
Sports Camp
What a week! 150 campers learned what it means to be God’s champions. Skills were practiced, games were played, lessons were learned, and Jesus was in the center. Check out highlights here. God-willing, summer camp will return in July 2024 with a new focus and the same wonderful Word of God.

Moms’ Group
Moms with little ones like spending time with other moms with little ones. That is why a group of St. Andrew moms started Moms’ Group. They are getting together with their children every other Tuesday this summer. To join the group, send an email to St. Andrew Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad.
WELS Family Devotions
To attain and maintain a Christ-centered home takes time in God’s Word. Click here for one way to bring Jesus and his Word into your family.
Impact
One of Scriptures’ most fascinating miracles is when Jesus walks on water. However, being fascinated is not the intended takeaway. Listen to Pastor Nate Wordell from Wisconsin Lutheran College grab on to what we learn about Jesus and ourselves. You can listen to Impact here or on popular podcast platforms by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Summer at St. Andrew service opportunities
If you are looking for opportunities to serve for this fun event, consider the following:
- Are you able to lend your hands and help with some setup and/or takedown the day of the event? There will be some needs outdoors, in the gym, and in the kitchen.
- Do you have a pop-up canopy for your family and others to use during the event? Let us know if you have one to bring.
Please contact Pastor Clinton to serve.
First Group
Are you interested in learning more about Christianity? Maybe even joining the St. Andrew family? Do you know people who have shown such interest? The goal of this Growth Group is to survey the Bible, see the difference God’s powerful Word makes in our lives, and answer questions you have. The next session will be at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings, beginning September 10. Contact Pastor Clinton for more information. Tell your friends about this upcoming opportunity.
