This Week
Power and priority
The end of Matthew 8 (verses 28-34) presents a disturbing account, but as Jesus continues to show who he is with his actions, we can find comfort in his power and in his priority. God’s Word before us touches on demon possession, rejecting Jesus, and even the role of creatures with whom we share the planet. Worship Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Parents’ Night Out
Middle school and high school students from St. Andrew are raising money for A Place of Peace, and parents of young children can help by planning a kid-free night. On Sunday, July 27, you can drop your children off (4 years old up to grade 8) at St. Andrew starting at 5 PM and enjoy an evening out. The only thing we ask is that you remember to return by 8 PM. Sign up here.
Here is the link for teens to sign up to help.
Letter from the Hunters
Pastor and Karen Hunter have sent a letter expressing gratitude and sharing Idaho updates. Read it here.
Call meeting for Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision
On Thursday, August 28, at 5:30 PM, we will be calling for a Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision. Timing of the call meeting is driven by consultation with our district president based on the summer months’ activity and eligibility of candidates. Joining us in support of the call meeting will be Circuit Pastor Jonathan Bauer (Good News Lutheran Church, Mount Horeb). After a discussion of candidates provided by our District President, the voters of St. Andrew will choose one to whom we will extend a call.

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Construction update
This week the main entrance moved to the north gym doors until mid-August. Watch for signage and greeters to point you to the correct entrance during worship. The doorbell, keypad, and intercom services are relocated to these north gym doors as well so you can enter the building as you normally would.

When visiting St. Andrew during the week, park in the new north parking lot. On weekends, you can park in the new north lot as well as any open spots on the north side of the original parking lot.
Construction on Parmenter Street continues. To get to St. Andrew it is recommended to take one of these alternate routes:
- From the north, County Road K to Church Road to Schneider Road
- From the south, Airport Road to Capitol View Road to Schneider Road
On evenings after 6:30 and weekends you can use one of the routes above or take Highway 12 to the Parmenter Street Exit #249 and drive around the barriers. This construction project is between Century Avenue and Greenbriar Road and will last until October. We will keep you updated as we learn more and appreciate your patience.
A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Grow in Grace returns in August
We naturally spend a lot of time at St. Andrew learning about the Bible’s content. At our next Grow in Grace, the focus will be less on content and more on the history of Scripture. Dr. Stephen Geiger from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary will present on the origin, preservation, and translation of the Bible. This series will help you gain a greater understanding of and appreciation for this gracious gift from God. The Bible: How It Came to Be will be in the sanctuary on August 10, 17, and 24 from 9:30 – 10:15 AM.
Impact podcast
Trees thrive when they are well-watered. The same is true for God’s people. That thought and more are found in Psalm 1. Professor Andrew Hussman, a teacher of God’s Word at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin, is here this week to take us into the first Psalm. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service opportunity | outdoor greeters
Now that construction means altered parking and main entrance, we want to make sure our guests (and members) know where to go. Join the team to help direct worshipers to parking and to the entrance before worship services. It’s a role you can do whichever service you attend. Contact Pastor Clinton if interested.
Plugged into Jesus
One of the great privileges God gives to his people is to share his love with the next generation. One way we do that at St. Andrew is through Plugged into Jesus (PIJ). PIJ serves children age 4 through grade 5. The members on this team serve about 1 – 2 Sundays per month during the school year. If you would like to learn more about being on this team, contact our children’s ministry director, Miss Emma Nolte. She will plug you into a role that works for you.
WELS Connection
Every month, our church body releases a video to highlight a specific project or ministry of some of our brothers and sisters in faith. Last month’s video focuses on Mission Together, a new initiative of WELS Congregational Services. Among other things, this service helps sister churches in close proximity work together and plan for the long term.

Monthly Mission Partner
July’s partner is Christian Aid & Relief, an organization of our church body whose mission is to reflect Christ’s love and compassion to souls suffering from disasters and hardships, such as the recent flooding in central Texas. Because of what Christ has freely done for us, we eagerly show we care by offering our time, talents, and treasures to those in need. For a better idea of what CAR does, go to wels.net/relief.
