This Week

Lord, give me patience . . .
You know how that petition concludes, “And give it to me right now!” You know some people who are given to demonstrating patience sometimes, but no one does so all the time. Something “sets off” everyone. What is it you have no patience for? In Romans 12, the apostle Paul is inspired to give us God’s plan for how we respond to his mercy. One of those responses is patience. Rather than just give us a command to be patient, he gives us practical things we can do when someone tries our patience. Read Romans 12:9-21 and join the other impatient saints to receive mercy and grow in our ability to be patient. This will be our theme on SUNDAY ONLY, at 8:00 and 10:30 AM. Rather than our regular time for worship on Thursday, this week we are concluding the summer camp with a special 6:30 PM service on the theme of our summer camp week, “Jesus in Everything.” All are welcome to both Thursday and Sunday.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Vision
St. Andrew gathered to receive information about and discuss the proposed vision and plans to accomplish it, and the Voters’ Assembly has approved it. You can see it here, or pick up a paper copy in the atrium. Our ministry leaders are now busy organizing all of us to use the gifts God has given us to pursue those plans. We count on his blessing for everything; and we assume we might just be the way he blesses these plans. Ultimately, our prayer is that the Spirit would use us to proclaim Christ and build his kingdom. That’s why we’re church. We also called Mrs. Jessica Bohl for one year as a part-time first grade teacher for our ministry of Westside Christian School and elected three new Board members: John Kamin (president), Jamie Lundgren (vice president), and Tyler Simmons (properties). They replace outgoing Board members Clayton Grow, Tom Shepard and Steve Veers.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Summer Camp Celebration Service
This Thursday, July 11, join us for worship as we celebrate the great things the Lord has done throughout this week of Summer Camp. Please note the Thursday service will be at 6:30 PM, not 7 PM, as we normally do on Thursday evenings. St. Andrew members are welcome to come and celebrate with us at this special service and help us make our guests feel welcome.Online worship feedback
Have you used our online worship in the past year? We are looking for your feedback on how you use our online worship services and what we can do to improve your experience with it. If this applies to you, please take this short questionnaire to provide your feedback. Thanks in advance!

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

An idea for the young Christian
It was recently suggested that a new book from Time of Grace is well-suited as a gift for young adult Christians (think college age). The book is Taboo. Two of our St. Andrew Growth Groups are going through it right now, and both give it high marks. If there is a young adult in your life, consider giving them this book as a way to help them in their walk with Jesus. Maybe you’ll want one for yourself as well! Click here to check it out.Pre-Marriage Workshop
You put time into planning for the dress, the band, the menu, the seating, the invitations, etc. And as good as it all is, it will all be gone a couple hours after you say your vows. Your marriage, though, remains. Plenty of wedding planning experts and websites offer to help you plan your wedding. Let us help you plan for a marriage that honors God and a lifetime of bringing joy to your spouse. St. Andrew offers two Pre-Marriage Workshops each year to our community. The next one is on Saturday, July 20, beginning with continental breakfast at 8:30 AM and concluding by 4:00 PM. If you’re engaged, you can register now. Registration closes on Sunday, July 14. This isn’t just for people of St. Andrew. Forward this invitation and the link to engaged couples you know who want to gain valuable skills for a Christian marriage.

Impact
The bread from heaven that saved Israel in the desert, called manna, is beautifully connected to Jesus. Pastor Nate Wordell from Wisconsin Lutheran College is here to help us enjoy the many details in Exodus 16 and how they lead us to Jesus, the Bread of Life. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact.”

LifeBoat
LifeBoat is the name of a new group for St. Andrew teens. LifeBoat is for grades 7 – 10 and meets the first and third Sunday evenings of every month from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. A typical evening is food, play, and Jesus. For location and more information, contact LifeBoat leaders Jess Bohl or Hilary Griswold.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Honey in their veins
Channel 3000 recently paid tribute to some of the founding members of St. Andrew and their legacy. Check it out here.Service opportunity Tuesday evening
It’s the time of year when carpets are cleaned. After that, lots of things will need to return to their proper places. We plan to do that from 5 – 7 PM on Tuesday, July 16. Come for any or all of that time. If you’d like to be part of the effort, contact Director of Properties Tyler Simmons.

One body, many members
1 Corinthians 12 says the church is like a body. It is one, but it is made of many unique parts with specific roles. St. Andrew has been blessed with many personalities, spiritual gifts, and skillsets. We want you to be blessed and be a blessing to others by serving in accordance with yours. St. Andrew’s ministry plan for the next twelve months has now gone into effect, so now is a great time to submit your One Body, Many Members survey to help determine how you can serve.

Mission Rock Hill
Leaders Scott and Alie Fanello, along with teen participants Skylar Fanello, Natalie Onsager, Amelia Povich, and Kylie Roekle, will be making their way southeast this weekend to serve the Rock Hill community and our brothers and sisters at Illumine Church. May God bless their trip with safety, fruitful labor, and lots of fun. (Check Facebook for lots of Mission London updates.)

Monthly Mission Partner
July’s partner is Christian Aid & Relief, an organization of our church body whose mission is to reflect Christ’s love and compassion to souls suffering from disasters and hardships. Because of what Christ has freely done for us, we eagerly show we care by offering our time, talents, and treasures to those in need. For a better idea of what CAR does, go to wels.net/relief.
