This Week

Well pleased
With what or whom are you well pleased? Was it the same a decade ago? Will it be the same in a decade? Read Matthew 3:13-17. God the Father said he was well pleased with Jesus, and he never withdrew that status. Can God say the same about you? Why or why not? Dig into it with us on Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Milestones

  • Madden Arthur Alexander, son of Kali and Kevin Alexander, was baptized into Christ on Sunday, January 26. We joined the angels in rejoicing in the work the Spirit did through the miracle of baptism.
  • Callista Carlson will be invited to commune with us, following her confirmation this Sunday, February 2. Life is full of important “markers,” and this is one of them. We pray for the Spirit to continue to bless Callista with spiritual growth.
  • Bill and Sharleen Ott celebrate 60 years of marriage on Thursday, January 30. We’ll celebrate with Sharleen’s (Shorty’s) homemade candy on Thursday after worship. (If you’d like your church to include a special prayer or reception for your anniversary, please email us: [email protected]. We’d love to celebrate with you.)

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship on Sunday. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening | Friday, February 14
This Valentine’s Day, save yourself the crowded restaurant or the stress of trying to be creative in your plans. Make your reservations instead for the St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening on Friday, February 14. If you’re married, you’ll explore ways to stay connected. If you’re dating, you’ll learn about each other’s past and about each other’s future expectations in a comfortable atmosphere. Guests are welcome; invite your neighbors and friends.

  • 6:00 PM | Hors d’oeuvres, wine, and other beverages
  • 6:30 PM | “Connect with You” plan to build rituals of connection to build a life together
  • 7:00 PM | Professional dance instructor, Katie Edwards, will teach a beginner’s swing dance lesson. Learn the basics and enjoy some cute moves with your loved one. Stay as long or little as you like to practice, but the music stops at 8:30 PM.

Register now for St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening by Sunday, February 9.

Growth Groups
The spring semester for St. Andrew Growth Groups has begun. There are 250+ people in 20+ groups. If you would like help joining a group, contract Mark Kjenstad. He says it’s not too late.

Forward in Christ
There are always good articles that fill up the pages of Forward in Christ. You can grab a copy from the atrium. On Sunday, Pastor Clinton mentioned the article about Seth Loersch copying the entire Bible into a pile of spiral notebooks. What he didn’t mention is that Seth has Down syndrome. Here is the story.

Science Camp
St. Andrew is excited to bring back science camp this summer! “All Creatures Great and Small” will be held the mornings of July 14 – 17 for kindergarten – grade 6. Registration will begin soon.

Impact podcast
Outsiders are everywhere. That is, people who don’t yet know Christ. Therefore, the apostle Paul instructs us to be wise in the way we act. That and more this week with Professor Kyle Bitter as we reach the end of Colossians. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

PowerHour
February will bring some change to PowerHour dates. Instead of the 1st and 3rd Fridays, it will be on the 2nd and 4th Fridays. That makes the next PowerHour February 14 with a “Love Your Neighbor” theme. Go here to learn more about this ministry for children.

LifeBoat
This fun ministry for grades 7 – 10 meets Sunday, February 2, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at St. Andrew. You are welcome to bring a friend. It’s a simple agenda: hang out, enjoy some snacks, and open up the Bible for a bit.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Service opportunity | St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening
Regardless of your marital status, you want marriages around you to be strong and Christ-centered and all relationships to honor God. A way you can help make that happen is to keep events like this running smoothly. You can serve whether you are attending or not. If you’d like to help with setup or cleanup, contact Pastor Clinton.

Service roles to be filled
Do you get the impression that there’s no place for you to serve? There is. Below are a few of the teams that could get you involved in service right away.

  • Audio—mostly turning mics on and off and up and down. It may seem intimidating, but it just takes a little bit of training.
  • Slides—control what is on the screens. It’s mostly about paying attention and pressing buttons.
  • Communion Care—handling the Lord’s Supper elements before and after worship.

Monthly Mission Partner | February
In February we will pray for and support the families of Abundant Life Christian School, a community that experienced a tragedy in December. The kindness God’s people show to our neighbor is in response to the kindness God has shown us in Christ, who lived and died even for his enemies. Abundant Life is not quite the backyard of St. Andrew, and one might think of it as in competition with Westside Christian School, but God’s love is for everyone, so we will lift up in prayer these fellow souls for whom Jesus died. February MMP offerings will be used to send a gift to each individual family as an outpouring of Christian love.

Monthly Mission Partner | January
Our January partner was Illumine Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Pastor Loersch sent an update and gratitude video last week.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Father/Daughter Dance
Westside Christian School has a wide variety of activities outside of the school day. One of those special activities is our Father/Daughter Dance put on by Friends of Westside. This year’s theme is “A Winter’s Night.”

Please join us for a special night of fun that will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:30 PM in the gym. The cost of the event will be $5 per person. Please contact the office for more details.
