This Week
Waves of faith and doubt
As we continue our reading of Matthew, the Holy Scriptures show us believers who had faith in God and his abilities to save them, yet they doubted because of some adversity. The true answer to doubt is not found in the great miracle that removes adversity, but in the voice of our Savior, so we gather as a family to hear his words and sing his praises. Join us Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Upcoming call meetings January 29 and February 5
Thursday, January 29, at 5:30 PM in the gymnasium, we will be calling for a Pastor for Outreach.
Thursday, February 5, at 6:00 PM, we will be calling for a 5th grade teacher at Westside Christian School.
At both meetings, the assembly will discuss the needs of St. Andrew and the traits and gifts of the different candidates provided by our synod officers. Then, the present voters of St. Andrew will choose one to whom we will extend a call. While voters are male communicant members, all are invited to attend the meeting and participate in the discussion about the future of St. Andrew.
Gift card scam happening
This week, at least two St. Andrew members received a text message from a 763 area code asking them to purchase gift cards for people in need that Pastor Clinton would later reimburse. The texts were “signed” by “Pastor Clinton Kreuziger,” but this is a scam! Pastor Clinton did not send any such messages. Do not purchase the gift cards, and definitely do not send pictures of debit or credit cards or information of them to an unknown number.

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Construction update
Drywalling continues inside the new building, and doorframes are going in. Outside the building, the roofing is just about completed, and the red brick continues to go up. The enclosure around the dumpsters in the north parking lot will be going in as well.
A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Wednesday Lent devotions | Father, Forgive
Soon we begin Lent, a season where we bow our heads before our holy God in repentance and humility. During Lent, we remember the cost of our sin, but we also remember with gratitude and love the sacrifice our Savior made for us. This Lent, in a series called “Father, Forgive,” we will meet six people who needed forgiveness from the cross as we follow Jesus to it. By considering Christ’s prayers for their behavior, we gain insights into our own temptations and shortcomings and give thanks for the Father’s forgiveness.
Gather with brothers and sisters on the six Wednesdays of Lent beginning February 18 at 5:00 or 6:30 PM. Stay for dinner provided by one of our St. Andrew Best Chefs from 5:30 – 6:15 PM. Livestream will be available at 5:00 PM.
Adult Choir
Join your voice with others this year. Adult choir will be singing for worship again on Sunday, February 15. We will rehearse in the Soul Café January 28, February 4, and February 11 at 7 PM to prepare for that Sunday. Hope you can join us! Questions? Contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

WELS Lutheran Leadership Conference
More than 1,500 lay members, pastors, teachers, and staff ministers were in Chicago last week for the WELS National Conference on Lutheran Leadership at the historic Hilton Hotel on Michigan Avenue. St. Andrew Staff Minister Mark Kjenstad attended. St. Andrew leaders will be briefed on ways to incorporate new ideas into our ministry.
Impact
Luke gives us an account of Jesus teaching the scholars of his day, and he was only twelve! Remarkable, yet not remarkable. Professor Paul Koelpin from Martin Luther College is our guest. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
Sunday Children’s ministries
Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, Spark, and FUEL have room for your children. Note the sign in the atrium with locations and times. These ministries are served by many wonderful volunteers who bring the love and Word of God to St. Andrew youth from birth to 18.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Save the date for teen mission trip
Mission trips provide a perfect opportunity to grow in faith, encourage others, and share in the love of Jesus through various acts of service. This year we will be sending a group back to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to help lead a smaller church’s science camp. The trip dates are June 20/21 – 26. If you are or have an interested teen or are interested in leading the trip, please contact Pastor Clinton.
LWMS Convention coming to Madison
The 63rd Annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society Convention is June 25 – 28 in Madison at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. It features workshops, devotions, fellowship, and much more. There will also be many opportunities to serve both before and during; if you are interested in serving, please contact Amanda Taticek. Visit 63.lwms.org for more information about the convention.
Childcare providers
Thank you, childcare providers who enabled parents of young children to attend Grow in Grace earlier this month. Your service makes a big difference. If you are interested in looking after children during various events, please contact Emma Nolte.
How can you serve?
The One Body, Many Members survey is a tool for you to let St. Andrew know how you might like to serve. Some are recurring; others are situational. The responses have been used successfully many times, allowing lots of members to find new or different ways to serve. Please consider refreshing your survey or completing it for the first time.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our February partner is our church body’s mission efforts to the Hmong population in Vietnam. In 2025, the Hmong Evangelical Lutheran Church baptized over 10,000 individuals, and they continue to spread the gospel and grow. View a photo album of the Holy Spirit’s work in Vietnam.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Call news
We were notified that Miss Heather Schmidt returned her call to teach grade 5 at Westside Christian School. We will have another call meeting Thursday, February 5, at 6:00 PM in room 110.
Mrs. Ashley Renstrom, one of our 1st grade teachers, is holding a call to serve as a 1st grade teacher at Cross Life Christian Academy in Pflugerville, Texas. Pflugerville is a northern suburb of Austin and a growing community with a school that is about five years old.
Please continue to pray for Mrs. Renstrom as she deliberates her call and decides where her gifts and talents can be utilized.
Enrollment
Westside Christian School is in the midst of open enrollment. If you know of any students that need a great school community, let them know that we have openings in kindergarten and grades 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8. We would love to show them the blessings of WCS. |
