This Sunday

Know a Timothy?
The Apostle Paul met a young man named Timothy while traveling in Turkey. The two struck up a close relationship that lasted a lifetime. But it might not have always been easy. Together, they dealt with issues of an interracial marriage, reputation, traveling, and even minor surgery. The result of it all, though, is what we seek, too: strengthening in faith. See how it works by reading Acts 16:1-5 and then gathering with brothers and sisters to receive the gospel in Word and sacrament on Thursday or Sunday.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Victory
David Thiele entered eternal glory on Sunday night, January 23. David lived in such a way that he left no doubt about his confidence in Christ’s promise of heaven and of a resurrection from the dead. We’ll gather around those promises to celebrate his final victory and find comfort for ourselves. The family welcomes you to join them at St. Andrew for a time of visitation from 10 AM until noon on Saturday, January 29, and to David’s privilege of a Christian funeral service at noon. It is their hope you can also enjoy a light bite to eat while visiting with each other following the service. Livestream of the service will also be available on our website at noon. If you’d like to help with setting up, serving, or cleaning up after the meal, please email [email protected] by 10 AM on Thursday. Thank you.Growth Groups
Growth Groups begin this coming Sunday. The sign-up deadline is Wednesday, January 26. Sign up here. For more information on St. Andrew Growth Groups, click here.

Call meeting
We will host a call meeting for a Pastor for Service and Outreach in the sanctuary on Sunday, February 6, at 11:45 AM. A copy of the ministry description for this call is available at the Welcome Center. We don’t know who will be on the list yet, much less know whom we will call, but it’s not too soon to ask the Spirit to bless his church through the pastor he intends to serve among us.

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Pre-Marriage Workshop
You put time into planning for the dress, the band, the menu, the seating, the invitations, etc. And as good as it all is, it will all be gone a couple hours after you say your vows. Your marriage, though, remains. Plenty of wedding planning experts and websites offer to help you plan your wedding. Let us help you plan for a marriage that honors God and a lifetime of bringing joy to your spouse. St. Andrew offers two Pre-Marriage Workshops each year to our community. The next one is on Saturday, February 5. If you’re engaged, you can register now. Registration closes on Sunday, January 30. This isn’t just for people of St. Andrew—forward this invitation and the link to engaged couples you know who want to plan for a Christian marriage.Men of His Word
A group of St. Andrew men are taking a Bible road trip, and you can join us. The 13th annual Men of His Word Conference will be held at the Best Western Premier Waterfront Convention Center in Oshkosh on Saturday, February 19. To register go here. Contact Brian Fritz with your questions and to arrange for carpooling.

Impact
“I am who I am.” These words from God to Moses are bursting with meaning. Learn all about this mysterious phrase from Dr. Mark Paustian of Martin Luther College. Click here for a new Impact, or find it where you listen to podcasts. Search “Kjenstad Impact.” Impact is new every Monday, and all past episodes are available.

Home devotions seminar
You are invited to learn about “a simple way to a Christian home” at a seminar on home devotions. The seminar is Saturday, February 5, at Lord of Love Lutheran Church in DeForest from 9 AM – noon. Mr. Kjenstad will be attending. Here is the link for more information and to register.

Musikgarten
Come to Musikgarten on Sunday morning at 9:20 AM and experience music and rhythm with an infant or toddler in your care. Questions? Contact Karen Hong.

Plugged into Jesus
Sarah laughed when God promised her a son at the age of 99. Tell a few jokes at the family table and remind each other to trust God’s promises. This Sunday at 9:20 AM, we’ll see a picture of God’s plan of salvation in “A Merciful Substitute: Abraham and Isaac.” New friends are always welcome! Virtual Kits are available on request. Use this link to watch the Bible teaching video. Questions? Contact Jane Dew.

Spark
Think about the hardest thing you’ve had to do. Come and talk about a hard thing God asked of Abraham. Grades 6 – 8 meet on Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible study, life application, and activities. Contact Lance Hill with questions.

FUEL
Come and get it! To welcome you back to FUEL, we are serving pizza for breakfast! FUEL returns Sunday at 9:30 AM. Our topic is a big one: abortion. FUEL is for all St. Andrew high school students.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Mission Trips | 2022
Thank you to those who attended last Sunday’s Mission Trips 2022 application meeting. If the meeting inspired you to serve on a 2022 Mission Trip, please complete an application form here. The deadline to apply is April 1. For those who were unable to attend Sunday’s meeting but are interested in learning more about Mission Trips, please contact Mission Trips coordinator, Amy Kohlstedt. This year, Mission Trips is focusing on these locations: Greater Madison, Wisconsin; Sure Foundation Church, Brandon, South Dakota; Citrus Grove Church, Wesley Chapel, Florida; Illume Church, Seattle, Washington; and Mahahual, Mexico.Mission Trips t-shirts
Mission Trips t-shirts from prior Mission Trips are still available in several sizes. They are set out on a table in the atrium. They appear to be going fast, so pick one up while they are still offered! This is the last week for selecting a shirt. Voluntary donations can be made to the Mission Trip Restricted Fund using the envelopes on the table. Thank you for supporting our mission teams and our ministry to local, national, and international mission partners.

January Monthly Mission Partner
Our January Mission Partner is the Local Assistance Fund. The Love of Christ (TLC) ministry team works with this fund to provide love where it is desperately needed. This may come in the form of a handwritten note, aid for those who are homeless, spiritual counseling, or money for car repairs, gas, or food. The Local Assistance Fund could help someone you know or those who drop in looking for assistance. You and our volunteers make this happen. Thank you!

Connect | Serve | Impact Survey
Church Community Builder (CCB) is linked to our Connection Card process to enhance our community portal. Filling out a Connection Card also ensures that our information is up-to-date and accurate. Please log in to CCB to verify that you and your family’s information is current, and please take the Connect | Serve | Impact Survey. If you have already updated your survey in 2021, we will be reaching out to you soon to suggest new ways to plug in and serve that fit your interest and gifts. Thank you.
