This Week
Can a Lutheran have a spiritual experience?
We don’t normally talk like that. Can we? The record of God’s dealings with mankind, the Bible, includes dreams from the first book of the Bible to the last. We’ll encounter dreams throughout our study of the Book of Daniel; we come to the first one in chapter two. Read about it in Daniel 2:1-19 and gather with fellow Christians seeking a spiritual experience. Oops, does that give away the answer to the question?

Grow in Grace
“I worry that I worry too much.” That is the latest series at Grow in Grace. This whole church Bible study will give you encouragement to worry less and trust more. The 4-part series concludes on January 29 at 9:30 in the sanctuary. Even if you missed the other sessions, you are encouraged to attend. We will conclude by looking at worriers in Scripture and take a final look at what Scripture says about worry.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Calling chefs for Lenten meals
Lent 2023 brings a great opportunity for those with passion and skill in the kitchen. If that’s you, consider serving as a chef for one of St. Andrew’s Lenten meals. You will not be responsible for service, cleanup, or expenses; you can focus on the food. The dates are February 22 and the following five Wednesdays. If you are interested, contact Pastor Clinton.
Mission Trips
Included in St. Andrew’s purpose statement is to “serve the world.” Several opportunities to do that are coming this summer through Mission Trips. Teens and adults will grow in their faith, encourage others, and share the love of Jesus through various acts of service to congregations and communities outside of St. Andrew. What a way to take part in Jesus’ Great Commission. Learn more at the informational meeting at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 19.
A new opportunity: hospitality
Hospitality is a commended service in many parts of Scripture. The pandemic put a halt on many of St. Andrew’s efforts in this realm of service. If you want to be part of a team whose service includes preparing coffee and snacks (return of doughnuts?) for worship services, ordering and stocking supplies, and maintaining tidiness and positive experiences, contact Pastor Clinton.
Monthly Mission Partner
January’s Monthly Mission Partner is Costa Maya Ministries in Mahahual, Mexico. See the below video for an update from Pastor Valleskey.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Call extended
On Sunday, January 15, St. Andrew called Ms. Liz Henke to teach 1st grade beginning in the 2023-24 school year. Ms. Henke is currently teaching 2nd grade at Risen Savior in Pooler, Georgia. Her letter acknowledging the call is below. Please keep her in your prayers as she deliberates where to serve.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge that I have received a divine call to serve at Westside Christian School in Middleton, WI. I was called to serve as a 1st grade teacher.
God is presently using the congregation of Risen Savior Lutheran Church and the congregation of St. Andrew Lutheran Church to reach out with the gospel in a very unique setting. The question I have to answer is to which of these two calls the Lord wants me to serve: one I am presently serving at Risen Savior and one I received from St. Andrew. I pray the Lord will lead me to a decision that will best serve his kingdom. I ask you to keep me in your prayers as I deliberate the two calls.
Your Sister in Christ,
Ms. Elizabeth Henke
Father-daughter dance
Daughters and their fathers are invited to “A Night Under the Stars,” a spectacular night of fun and dancing. This special event will be held on Saturday, February 11, from 6 – 9 PM, in St. Andrew’s gymnasium. The cost of the event is $5 per person.
Please click here to register by Friday, February 3. During the event, we would like to pay tribute to the attendees. Please email a picture of your daughter and their guest to Laura Westphal. If you have more than one daughter, you can include separate pictures of each. All pictures will be kept confidential and only used during the event. |
