This Week
God’s kindness
One of the biggest stumbling blocks that keeps people from listening to Christ and giving him a fair hearing is the hypocrisy of religious people. Yep, that would be us. Paul doesn’t hold back in speaking to us about it either. This Thursday or Sunday, we’ll hear what God has to say about hypocrisy. Read the first half of Romans 2:1-16 and then, on Thursday at 7 PM or on Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM, join the family of God to rejoice in the kindness, tolerance, and patience of God.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Growth Groups
The spring semester for Growth Groups is beginning. The final day to sign up is Wednesday, January 24. Use this link. May God bless the time you spend growing in his Word and with his people.
Men of His Word
The annual Men of His Word conference in Oshkosh is coming up on February 17. Men of His Word equips Christian men to take a leadership role within their family, within their congregation, and in their community. Each year a group of men from St. Andrew attend. Go here to learn more about the conference and to register. Reach out to St. Andrew Men’s Ministry leader Brian Fritz about carpooling.
A Morning for Your Marriage—Trust
Have you noticed how some stars seem to disappear if you look directly at them? To see them, you almost have to look sideways. The reason has to do with rods and cone sensors in our eyes, but I don’t understand that. I do know that trust is like that. You don’t build it directly, but husbands and wives can build trust by a thousand other actions. That we can grow to understand and practice. That’s what we’ll do in our next A Morning for Your Marriage, from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, February 24. Guests are welcome, and so are children. Childcare will be available, but we ask that you register by Monday, February 19.
Impact
You know Jesus is in the gospels, but is he in Deuteronomy? Absolutely he is. He is everywhere in Scripture. Listen to Pastor Nathan Wordell from Wisconsin Lutheran College help us see Jesus in this obscure text. You can listen to Impact here or wherever you find podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
Children up to age 3 and their caregivers are invited to learn more about healthy living at the next PowerHour! Join us on Friday, February 2, at 10:30 AM in the St. Andrew gym. Click here for more information on PowerHour.
Sunday children’s ministries
Check out God’s Word from Deuteronomy 6: These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. These words inspire our Sunday morning children’s ministries at St. Andrew. Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, and Spark serve children from birth through grade 8. Contact Staff Minister Mark Kjenstad with your questions.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
One body, many members | New service survey
St. Andrew is a community of Christians who love God, love others, and serve the world. Service takes many forms, but there’s a role for everyone. The purpose of this survey is to make you aware of various areas of service so that you can identify ways that you might like to serve, whether immediately or in the future. Whether you are still trying to find the role for you or are completely happy in your role, please take five minutes to complete the new survey to enhance St. Andrew’s efforts to involve people in ministry effectively. One Body, Many Members Survey.
Lenten meals: setup, service, and cleanup
Starting February 14, additional opportunities to gather and focus on our Savior will enhance the season of Lent. These gatherings also include fellowship meals. A great opportunity for you or your Growth Group to serve is by assisting the chefs with prep, setup, service, and cleanup. If you are interested, contact Pastor Clinton.
Caretaking need in early summer
A member of a sister church is hoping to line up care during a post-procedure recovery. She will need another presence around the clock at a recovery facility in Middleton. Some of that time is accounted for, but if you would consider filling any of the missing hours (likely between 6 AM – 7 PM on weekdays), please contact Pastor Clinton.
Monthly Mission Partner
Our partner for January is Illumine Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina, part of the Charlotte metropolis. In addition to this MMP designation, St. Andrew teens will have the opportunity to be a personal part of Illumine’s ministry this summer by participating in a mission trip. Find out more about Illumine at their website, or view the video.
Note of thanks from WayForward Resources
December’s Monthly Mission Partner was WayForward Resources. St. Andrew received a note saying, “Your donations to our food pantry and clothing center are critical to creating food and housing security in our community. Thank you so much for partnering with us to create a lasting impact!”

Help the WCS track team
Westside Christian School is currently looking for someone with the gifts to head coach our WCS track team in the spring. The season will start in early April with a commitment of two practices per week. The season ends in late May and is accompanied with three to four track meets throughout the season. We currently have an outstanding staff of assistant coaches. The former head coach is also willing to work with the new head coach prior to the season to ease the transition into the role. It is a great opportunity to serve our school and help our students glorify God with their talents. Please reach out to our athletic director, Jack Murphy, if you have any questions or are interested.
Help needed in the Welcome Center
If you are interested in paid employment helping out in the Welcome Center on days when the receptionist is not here, please contact Principal Meredith Pucci. Candidates need to be available on school days from 8 AM to 1 PM, with an option to stay later if there is enough work to keep busy. General computer knowledge and attention to detail is required. |
