This Week

Pointing to Jesus
Of all the good things you can do, and you can do plenty, what could be better than pointing someone to Jesus? That good thing could have eternal results. That good thing was also the special role God gave to John the Baptist and the special role God gives to us, too. Read Matthew 3:1-12 to learn God’s plan for JB, then gather with your brothers and sisters to encourage one another and gain God’s wisdom for pointing to Jesus. We worship on Thursday at 7:00 PM and on Sunday at 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Information session follow-up
Last Sunday, we handed out much information about our plans to serve more people through a new facility. Thank you to all who participated and offered support and encouragement. As reported, the costs came in higher than expected. We continue to work internally and with the architect and builder to try to find ways to bring the cost back into our budget. This will take some time, but we hope to provide an update within a few weeks. Patience is difficult, especially when our mission is so urgent, but God is God, and we are not. We’ll continue to work as if everything depends on us, but pray as if everything depends on him.

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening | Friday, February 14
This Valentine’s Day, save yourself the crowded restaurant or the stress of trying to be creative in your plans. Make your reservations instead for the St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening on Friday, February 14. If you’re married, you’ll explore ways to stay connected. If you’re dating, you’ll learn about each other’s past and about each other’s future expectations in a comfortable atmosphere. Guests are welcome; invite your neighbors and friends.

  • 6:30 PM | “Connect with You” plan to build rituals of connection to build a life together
  • 7:00 PM | Professional dance instructor, Katie Edwards, will teach a beginner’s swing dance lesson. Learn the basics and enjoy some cute moves with your loved one. Stay as long or little as you like to practice, but the music stops at 8:30 PM.

Register now for St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening by Sunday, February 9.

Men of His Word conference
For the past several years, hundreds of men have attended Men of His Word for encouragement and growth as Christian leaders. Brothers from St. Andrew are inviting you to join them for this day trip to Oshkosh on February 8. Find more information about Men of His Word 2025 and the registration link here. Sign up by January 21 for the discount. If you are attending, contact Brian Fritz or Tom Shepard to join the carpool.

Impact podcast
Deadly snakes in the desert slither into this episode from Numbers 21. Our guest is Pastor Aaron Jensen. Even if you hate snakes, you’ll love this story, because it points to our Savior. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Sunday children’s ministries
To help your children learn more about the love of Jesus and the Word of God, St. Andrew has a children ministry for every age. Now is the time to get your children involved!

Musikgarten is for children 3 and younger along with a parent or caregiver and begins at 9:20 AM in room 104.
Plugged into Jesus is for 4K – grade 5. PIJ starts at 9:20 AM. Kids in 4K – kindergarten meet in room 102, and grades 1 – 5 meet in the gym.
Spark is for grades 6 – 8 and begins at 9:30 AM in room 110.
FUEL is for high school students and begins at 9:30 AM in room 114.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Help us help you serve
The One Body, Many Members survey is a tool for you to let us know areas in which you might like to serve. Some are recurring; others are situational. The responses have been used successfully many times, allowing lots of members to find new or different ways to serve. But the greater the response, the greater the ministry. So, if you still have not, please take the survey and help us help you serve.

Service opportunity | St. Andrew Valentine’s Evening
Whether you are married or not, you want marriages around you to be strong and Christ-centered. A way you can help make that happen is to keep events like this running smoothly. You can serve whether you are attending or not. If you’d like to help with setup or cleanup, contact Pastor Clinton.

Service opportunity | children’s ministries
Here’s a way to serve with immediate opportunities. If you are passionate about children and their Christian instruction, consider joining the Plugged into Jesus team. You serve about once a month on Sundays by teaching children Bible accounts and leading them in planned activities. Contact Yvonne Onsager if interested.

Growth Group service project
Another great benefit of Growth Groups is an opportunity to serve with other people. We have some ideas for your group, or you can come up with your own. If you will be part of a spring Growth Group, we pray your service through it will bring a blessing to you and others.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our January partner is a sister church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Illumine is a mission church and was a host to one of our teen mission teams last summer. We hope to send another team this summer to assist with their science camp in July. Get more acquainted with Illumine at illuminechurch.com.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Calls issued
St. Andrew issued two calls this past Thursday that impact Westside Christian School. Miss Emma Nolte was called to fill the Music Director/Children’s Ministry position. Miss Nolte graduated from Lawrence University this past December with a degree in educational music. Miss Nolte currently lives in the Appleton, Wisconsin, area.

Mr. Nathan Hablewitz was called for the 3rd grade teaching position. This is a unique position because he will be moving up with the students each year. Next year he would teach 3rd grade, the following year 4th grade, etc.

Please pray that these individuals will be given the clarity needed to decide where best God wants them to serve in his kingdom.
