This Sunday
A welcome letter
Think of all the ways you respond to snail mail or email. Delete, delete, delete. Or recycle bin, recycle bin, recycle bin. But then comes a letter that makes you smile. You don’t delete or recycle it. You anticipate opening it, savor its message, and smile over it. May the Lord give you more of these kinds of letters than any other! This Thursday and Sunday we return to our series, “You will be my witnesses: Acts.” We’ll follow up on the plan the church in Jerusalem had to send a letter. It’s an old letter, but it’s meant for us. And it makes us smile. Hope to see your smile this weekend.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Thank you
The Spirit moved the hearts of many St. Andrew members last week to help take down the Christmas decorations. So many willing hands helped us get the decorations down, packed up, and back over to storage! Thank you to everyone who had a part in beautifying our church building this Christmas season, whether it was through decorating or helping to pack up the decorations! Adult Choir resumes January 26
Blend your voice with others to sing God’s praise. We’ll rehearse January 26, February 2, and February 9 at 7 PM in Room 115 to sing for worship on Sunday, February 13. High school age and older are welcome to attend. Questions? Email Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.
Milestones
Brenda Redeppening and Jake Miller will be married this Saturday. They’ve chosen 1 Corthinians 13 as a theme for their worship service. May the Spirit who unites them fill them with Jesus’ love that it may overflow to each other for a lifetime.
Worship Check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder each week. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Grow in Grace
How is your prayer life? Are you a prayer warrior, or are you lacking in prayer? Either way, Jesus has a lot to say to you about prayer. “Lord Teach Us to Pray” is the latest series for Grow in Grace. The focus this week is the Lord’s Prayer. Attend Grow in Grace on Sunday at 9:30 AM. Pre-Marriage Workshop
You put time into planning for the dress, the band, the menu, the seating, the invitations, etc. And as good as it all is, it will all be gone a couple hours after you say your vows. Your marriage, though, remains. Plenty of wedding planning experts and websites offer to help you plan your wedding. Let us help you plan for a marriage that honors God and a lifetime of bringing joy to your spouse. St. Andrew offers two Pre-Marriage Workshops each year to our community. The next one is on Saturday, February 5. If you’re engaged, you can register now. Registration closes on Sunday, January 30. This isn’t just for people of St. Andrew—forward this invitation and the link to engaged couples you know who want to plan for a Christian marriage.
WELS Summer Youth Rally
Here and Now is the theme for the 2022 WELS International Youth Rally. The rally is June 28 – July 1 at the University of Tennessee. Hang out with 2,000 young people who share your faith, and attend workshops on teen topics. Find more details here.
Impact
Moses is a giant figure in the Scriptures, and his story is fascinating for sure. Listen to how it all began, and learn the difference between what God “remembers” and what he “forgets.” Click here for a new Impact, or find it where you listen to podcasts. Search “Kjenstad Impact.” Impact is new every Monday, and all past episodes are available.
Musikgarten
Little ones love to move! Join Karen Hong in Musikgarten on Sundays at 9:20 AM and experience music and rhythm with them. Questions? Contact Karen Hong.
Plugged into Jesus
Here’s a home project for last Sunday’s lesson, “Handmade: Adam and Eve”: kids can cut pictures of parts of animals from magazines and put them together to form new ones! Talk about God’s wonderful and perfect way to create all things. This week: “A Sign and a Promise: God’s Covenant with Abram.” Kids will learn that God promises a future in Jesus. New friends are always welcome! It all starts at 9:20 AM on Sundays. Virtual Kits for unit 4 are available for pickup in the atrium. Use this link to watch the Bible teaching video. Questions? Contact Jane Dew.
Spark
What are your dreams for the future? Consider God’s promises as you dream! Grades 6 – 8 meet Sundays at 9:30 AM for Bible study, life application, and activities. Contact Lance Hill with questions.
FUEL
FUEL is coming back on January 30. In the meantime, St. Andrew high school students are invited to learn more about prayer at Grow in Grace.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
A thank you note
Over the past year, St. Andrew members and friends have contributed to MOM’s Food Pantry in many ways and have also provided for families in need with gift cards and devotional books to celebrate The Miracle of Christmas. These families often respond with gratitude to God and St. Andrew for the compassion and assistance provided. Here is a note recently received: Thank you so very much for the incredibly kind and generous gifts you gave to our family via Gio’s Garden. My 5-year-old son loves his time at Gio’s, and I value the help immensely. Thank you and Happy New Year from his mom.
With God’s blessing, you made an impact. Thank you.
January Monthly Mission Partner
Our January Mission Partner is the Local Assistance Fund. The Love of Christ (TLC) ministry team works with this fund to provide love where it is desperately needed. This may come in the form of a handwritten note, aid for those who are homeless, spiritual counseling, or money for car repairs, gas, or food. The Local Assistance Fund could help someone you know or those who drop in looking for assistance. You and our volunteers make this happen. Thank you!
Connect | Serve | Impact Survey
Church Community Builder (CCB) is linked to our Connection Card process to enhance our community portal. Filling out a Connection Card also ensures that our information is up-to-date and accurate. Please log in to CCB to verify that you and your family’s information is current, and please take the Connect | Serve | Impact Survey. If you have already updated your survey in 2021, we will be reaching out to you soon to suggest new ways to plug in and serve that fit your interest and gifts. Thank you.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
2022 – 2023 enrollment begins
Early enrollment for the 2022 – 2023 school year has begun. This will end on Sunday, January 16. Early enrollment is only for current Westside families and St. Andrew members. If you are interested in enrolling students from Pre-K3 through 8th grade for next school year, you can apply online via TADS. Reach out to Principal Meredith Pucci with any questions. Beginning on January 18, enrollment will be made available to the community. We anticipate that some classrooms may immediately reach capacity. Families who submit an application for a room that is at capacity are placed on the waiting list. All enrollment requests received on and after January 18 will be processed in the order they are received, so be sure to take advantage of the early enrollment period soon!
Call received
Kim Gnewuch, our 3rd grade teacher, received a call to teach 2nd grade and to be the school music director at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Beverly Hills, Florida. She welcomes your prayers and comments in the near future as she prayerfully deliberates where she can best carry out God’s command to feed his lambs, whether here at St. Andrew and Westside Christian or at St. Paul’s. |
