This Sunday

Powerful grace
You hear of it occasionally: the family of the victim of a horrible crime appears in the courtroom at sentencing to speak to the one convicted. But instead of words of hate, they speak words of grace and forgiveness. How can they do that? Where’s the justice? At the end of Acts 16, the apostle Paul and his companion Silas do something like that. Instead of seeking revenge on the man who wronged them, they demonstrated powerful grace. Where’s the justice? Satisfied on Jesus’ cross. Read the story in Acts 16 and join brothers and sisters this Thursday or Sunday to encounter this powerful grace.

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Divine call received
Mark Kjenstad received a divine call on Sunday afternoon. The call is to teach grades 7 – 8 and be the youth director at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Brillion, Wisconsin. Mr. Kjenstad is gathering more details about the call and has begun deliberating where to serve. You are encouraged to speak with him if you have thoughts to help guide his decision. Please keep the Kjenstads in your prayers. Ask the Lord that they may clearly see the Lord’s will for their future ministry.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

Passion Points of View | Wednesday Lent devotions
Who doesn’t wish you could have witnessed the events of Jesus’ life? Because Jesus took on a human body to become our Savior, he can’t be available at all times for all people to see. Human bodies have limitations. Yet, eyewitness accounts survive. People were there. They saw and heard. Spend a half hour each Wednesday for the six weeks before Good Friday and Easter to see and hear from their points of view. Let the Spirit use the Word he gave to inspire a growing faith in you so that you appreciate all the more what he did on Good Friday and greet him with resurrection excitement on Easter Sunday.

Gather with your St. Andrew family at either 5 PM (this service will be live streamed) or 6:30 PM on Wednesdays from March 2 to April 6.

·  March 2: Peter in the Garden of Gethsemane
·  March 9: John as Jesus was arrested
·  March16: Joseph of Arimathea and Jesus’ trial
·  March 23: Barabbas and Jesus before Pilate
·  March 30: Mary, the mother of Jesus, at the foot of the cross
·  April 6: Nicodemus burying Jesus

Lent preparations
As we prepare for the Lenten season starting March 2, we will also be preparing the sanctuary. This Sunday, February 27, following 10:30 AM worship, we will be getting some heavy bins and boxes off some shelves and a few items set up in the sanctuary. If you are interested in serving this way, please contact Minister for Worship Naomi Laabs.

Easter flower orders
We are already anticipating the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday! If you would like to help decorate the sanctuary for Easter with the purchase of Easter flowers, please place your order by March 20. You can do so by filling out the online form here or by picking up an order form at the Welcome Center. Flowers can be taken home following Easter worship on April 17.

Worship Check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder each week. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Family devotions
If you have children at home, the most important thing you give them is Jesus. WELS has a resource to help you do that. Click here to learn more. Getting in a habit of having devotions at home is a challenge, but so worth the time and effort. If you want help with this, reach out to Mr. Kjenstad.

Science Camp
St. Andrew Science Camp will be back this summer! Science Camp is for children age 4 – grade 6. There will be opportunities for teens and adults to serve in many different ways. For now, mark your calendar for July 18 – 21.

College students
Who doesn’t like receiving a care package? St. Andrew has a College Ministry team that serves all St. Andrew college students. Last week, the team sent out another care package to our 37 college students. Please pray for all of our college students that they would stand firm in their faith and that they would take opportunities God gives them to witness for Christ.

Impact
The last book of the Bible is described by some as intimidating and others as fascinating. Listen to this episode to learn the right approach to learning from the wonderfully comforting book of Revelation. Click here for Impact, or find it where you listen to podcasts. Search “Kjenstad Impact.” Impact is new every Monday, and all past episodes are available.

Musikgarten
Bring an infant or toddler you love to Musikgarten this Sunday at 9:20 AM! Experience music and rhythm with an infant or toddler in your care. Questions? Contact Karen Hong.

Plugged into Jesus
Dinner is one opportunity families have to be together. Talk as a family about favorite dinner menus. This week’s lesson is “A Dreamer Rises: God Works Good for Joseph.” Which friend will you bring with you? Plugged into Jesus meets on Sundays at 9:20 AM. A few virtual Kits are still available. Use this link to watch the Bible teaching video. Questions? Contact Jane Dew.

Spark
Who is always there for you? This week, learn why life has good and bad times. Grades 6 – 8 will meet this Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible study, life application, and activities. Contact Lance Hill with questions.

FUEL
Mr. KJ will be back on Sunday, and FUEL will conclude its look at what the Bible says about abortion and how Christians can help prevent abortions. FUEL meets Sundays at 9:30 AM and is for all St. Andrew high school students.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Call for Pastor for Service and Outreach
We have called Pastor Stephen Apt to serve as our Pastor for Service and Outreach. Please pray for him and his wife, Anne, as they determine where they will serve in the mission Jesus has entrusted to us.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our February Monthly Mission Partner is Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel and Student Center—a campus ministry located on the corner of State and Gilman. Check out their website to learn more about the work they’re doing to keep college students connected to Christ and each other.

Like to cook?
Mission Madison has an opportunity for you to plan and make meals for our team June 22 – 24, 2022. You will plan, purchase, and prepare lunch, snacks, and supper for about a dozen middle school students while this eager team does service projects around Middleton and the surrounding communities. You will select the menu and work around the team’s schedule. Lunch can be a sandwich and fixings that we will take to go. Snacks can be easy and bagged for the day. Supper will be served at St. Andrew around 5:30 PM. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Nancy Ninman.

WELS Connection
St. Andrew is a member of the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod, and one way we can stay connected to our synod is through the WELS Connection video. Each month you can watch an update on the latest news from our synod. The latest WELS Connection can be viewed by clicking here.
