This Week
How much do you have to lose?
Those who have the most to lose by following Jesus are often most reluctant to do so. Those in positions of political, cultural, intellectual, or institutional power may be the ones least able to recognize their need for forgiveness of sins and most reluctant to acknowledge that all they have is given to them by God, and it’s to be used for his glory. We saw it when we studied the Acts accounts of Paul’s interaction with Felix (24:22-26) and Agrippa (26:28-31). Now we see it in one of the half-dozen most powerful men of all time: Nebuchadnezzar. These are the ones with the most to lose if they leave it all to follow Jesus. The news of Jesus we call “Good” is to some threatening and subversive. What do you have to lose?

A Morning for Your Marriage
Have you ever been part of an organization in which someone hasn’t said, “Communication is a problem around here”? Probably not—and you or your spouse may have said that about your marriage, too. Research of 50,000 couples shows that the area of marriage most likely to be considered a weakness is (drumroll, please) managing conflict. But what if you learned and practiced communication and conflict management techniques to build your marriage? What would you have to lose besides frustration, anger, and bitterness? What would you have to gain besides satisfaction, affection, and joy? Sounds like it would be worth a morning of your time. Register for our next Morning for Your Marriage on Saturday, February 25, from 9:00 – 11:30 AM. Breakfast will be provided. Register here by this Sunday, February 19.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Impact
The prayer life of Nehemiah is something to admire and learn from. Listen to Professor Paul Koelpin of Martin Luther College discuss that and other lessons from this Old Testament historical book. You can find our St. Andrew podcast Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details, click here. The next PowerHour is February 17 at 10:30 AM (a no-school day at Westside Christian, so older siblings are invited to join us). The theme is “Art Day.”
Sunday morning children’s ministries
Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, and Spark are all thriving with children, and we want your child involved! All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required. Musikgarten and Plugged into Jesus welcome children beginning at 9:20 AM, and Spark begins at 9:25 AM. This week’s lesson is about God’s call to the great prophet Isaiah.
FUEL
FUEL is our Sunday morning ministry for high school students. It’s relevant discussion and good times, and it’s for your high school student. On Sunday we will continue our discussion of God is not _____________. FUEL meets in room 114 at 9:25 AM.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Mission Trips informational meeting
This summer there are several opportunities to love God, love one another, and serve the world through Mission Trips. Teens and adults will grow in their faith, encourage others, and share the love of Jesus through various acts of service to congregations and communities outside of St. Andrew. If interested in participating or leading a trip, plan to be at the informational meeting at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 19.
Lenten meals: setup, service, and cleanup
Ash Wednesday is February 22, and there are still some opportunities for you or your Growth Group to serve by assisting with prep, setup, service, and cleanup for the meals. If you are interested, contact Pastor Clinton.
Serve hospitality
Hospitality is a commended service in many parts of Scripture. Join the effort to reestablish this team that keeps our worship guests feeling like part of a family. Contact Pastor Clinton for information.
Monthly Mission Partner
Middleton Outreach Ministries is our February partner. This local organization provides several social services to western Madison, Middleton, and Cross Plains, including hosting a large food pantry. In addition to funding, consider donating food items which you can bring to St. Andrew and deposit in the large container in the entryway. Find MOM’s most needed items list and more information at their website.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Call news
Ms. Liz Henke has returned her call to WCS to teach 1st grade beginning in the 2023-24 school year. Her letter is below. We will include the call for this position with the assistant principal call on February 21.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to learn about the ministry at St. Andrew Church and Westside Christian School. Your ministry is growing, and you have the wonderful opportunity to share Jesus with many families. I have loved talking with you all and getting to know your ministry more.
After prayerful consideration, I am returning the call to Westside Christian School. I will continue my ministry at Risen Savior Christian Academy in Pooler, GA. I will be praying for your ministry and all the great things God has in store for Westside and St. Andrew.
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!
In His Grace,
Elizabeth Henke
Assistant principal
St. Andrew will hold a call meeting at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, February 21, to call an assistant principal for our ministry of Westside Christian School. Ideally, we would have included this position in the Annual Plan, but we need to act more quickly than our usual process. Our Annual Plan won’t be approved until June, and that will be too late for the calling “window.” The Board of Directors, the School Council, and the called Area of Ministry leaders have all considered the need and agree on the exciting opportunities for ministry this called worker will provide. In their analysis, we are in a good financial position to take this step forward. Join the meeting virtually here, or join by phone: +1-401-702-0712 and use PIN 624087340#. |
