This Week

Free justification
Some jobs require you to “beat last quarter’s numbers.” It drives some to continuous improvement, but it drives others to find employment elsewhere. Who can live with the constant push to do better, do more, and be better? Well, we all do. It is in our fallen nature to imagine that if we’re just a little better, God will be on our side. But part of us knows we never get there. It drives some to search for God elsewhere. In Romans 3, we find the Spirit’s answer to stress we can’t bear and the truth we need. Read Romans 3 and join brothers and sisters for relief this Thursday at 7 PM or on Sunday at 8 AM or 10:30 AM.

If you would like to help decorate the sanctuary for Easter with the purchase of Easter flowers, please place your order by March 15. You can do so by filling out the online form here or by picking up an order form at the Welcome Center. Flowers can be taken home following Easter worship on March 31.

Milestones
At her confirmation, Jane Povich publicly confessed the faith into which she was baptized. Jane chose as her confirmation verse, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). Jane serves her Savior in many ways, but in the ministry of her church, she helps teach 4K and kindergarten students about Jesus in Plugged Into Jesus.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Tornado cleanup
Last week’s natural disaster affected some members of our nearby sister churches. There may still be opportunities to help. We don’t know what the assistance may involve, but if you are interested, please contact Pastor Clinton.

Let’s move stuff around | Help needed February 17
In order to prepare for new flooring installation, two rooms need to be cleared out and then returned to form. If you can help move things around on Saturday, February 17 (time TBD), please contact Pastor Clinton.

Lenten meals: setup, service, and cleanup
Starting February 14, additional opportunities to gather and focus on our Savior will enhance the season of Lent. These gatherings also include fellowship meals. A great opportunity for you or your Growth Group to serve is by assisting the chefs with prep, setup, service, and cleanup. Sign up here.

LWMS Convention June 27 – 30
Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society exists to support mission outreach within our church body. The annual LWMS convention is June 27 – 30 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Find more information about the convention and about LWMS at their website.

Monthly Mission Partner
This summer, teens and adults will go on mission trips to several different locations to help spread the gospel of Jesus. Not everyone will go on a mission trip, but you can still support them with prayers, encouragement, and offerings. Both the host congregations of mission trips and the participants themselves have always appreciated St. Andrew’s support.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Call updates
On Sunday, February 11, the voters of St. Andrew called two individuals to join our ministry of Westside Christian School starting in the 2024 – 25 school year. Dan Plath was called to serve as the principal. He is currently the principal at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Beverly Hills, Florida. Krista Simmons, a member of St. Andrew, was called to serve as the new middle school special education and ELA teacher. (See below for Krista’s letter of acknowledgment.) Their contact information is below. Please pray for Dan and Krista, and reach out with words of encouragement as they deliberate the calls before them.

Dear Members of St. Andrew and families of Westside Christian School,

I am honored to have received a call to serve Westside Christian School as a teacher of special education and middle school English. Thank you very much for the prayer and input you have provided in the search to fill this role. I look forward to prayerfully considering this opportunity to teach and serve God’s kingdom.

In Christ,
Krista Simmons

Fall-Daughter Ball
Westside Christian School’s annual Father-Daughter Ball was held on Saturday, February 10. We are thankful for the many volunteers who made this event so special and for all of the families who came to enjoy an enchanted evening of dancing and fun.
