This Week
The most important group
You are in many groups. Some of them are just facts. You can’t change your blood type or your eye color. You are in other groups by choice. You decided your hobbies. You joined particular social circles. Life has a lot of room for overlap, but when these groups clash, which is the most important? Daniel 2:24-49, the description and interpretation of Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, identifies the most important group to be part of.

Worship
Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Ash Wednesday | Crossbound
Jesus was bound and determined, or as Luke put it, “resolute,” to go to Jerusalem, to stand trial, and to go to the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Gather with saints on Ash Wednesday, February 22, at 5:00 or 6:30 PM as we kick off our six-week Lent Wednesday devotional series “Crossbound.”
Seder meal planning team
What did Jesus do right before he went to the Garden of Gethsemane to be arrested, put on trial, and die on the cross? He had a very special meal, a Seder meal, with his disciples. This Maundy Thursday, April 6, we will gather for this same Seder meal where Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper. Do you want to be a part of planning this exciting event? Contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs to join the Seder meal planning team.
Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.
Weekend worship songs
Preview some of the songs we will use for worship this weekend. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.
“God Is For Us” by CityAlight
“This Is Amazing Grace” by Phil Wickham
“Praise the One Who Breaks the Darkness” arranged by Branches Band
“My Worth Is Not in What I Own” by Graham Kendrick, Keith & Kristyn Getty

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Women’s retreat
Be strong in the Lord. That is the focus of the WELS women’s retreat Pathway to Christ. The retreat is March 3 – 5 in Oshkosh. Click here to register and for more information. You may register up until February 3.
A Morning for Your Marriage
This enrichment for married couples led by Pastor Hunter will help you find more joy in each other and give more glory to God through your marriage. Join us at St. Andrew on Saturday, February 25, from 9:00 – 11:30 AM. Breakfast will be provided. Please register here.
Men of His Word
Men of His Word is returning to Oshkosh on Saturday, February 18. This one-day conference equips Christian men to take a leadership role within their family, congregation, and community. For information and to register, click here. If you register, contact Brian Fritz or Mark Kjenstad to coordinate carpooling with other men from St. Andrew.
Impact
Are you soaring through life like an eagle? Isaiah 40 is loaded with images that bring rich gospel comfort from our Lord. Listen to part 2 of a conversation on Isaiah 40 with Dr. Mark Paustian from Martin Luther College. You can find our St. Andrew podcast Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details, click here. The next PowerHour is February 3 at 10:30 AM, and the theme is “Welcome to the Circus.”
Sunday morning children’s ministries
Musikgarten, Plugged into Jesus, and Spark have returned! All who attend grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. These important ministries also lay a foundation for developing lives of faithful service to our gracious Lord. No registration is required. Musikgarten and Plugged into Jesus welcome children beginning at 9:20 AM, and Spark begins at 9:25 AM. This week’s lesson is Elijah taken up to heaven.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Calling chefs helpers for Lenten meals
Lent begins February 22, and we have an exciting slate of chefs for the six Wednesday evening meals. You or your Growth Group can still serve by assisting with prep, setup, service, and cleanup. If you are interested, contact Pastor Clinton.
Mission Trips
Included in St. Andrew’s purpose statement is to “serve the world.” Several opportunities to do that are coming this summer through Mission Trips. Teens and adults will grow in their faith, encourage others, and share the love of Jesus through various acts of service to congregations and communities outside of St. Andrew. What a way to take part in Jesus’ Great Commission. Learn more at the informational meeting at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 19.
A new opportunity: hospitality
Hospitality is a commended service in many parts of Scripture. The pandemic put a halt on many of St. Andrew’s efforts in this realm of service. If you want to be part of a team whose service includes preparing coffee and snacks (return of doughnuts?) for worship services, ordering and stocking supplies, and maintaining tidiness and positive experiences, contact Pastor Clinton.
Monthly Mission Partner
Middleton Outreach Ministries is our March partner. This local organization provides several social services to Dane County, particularly western Madison, Middleton, and Cross Plains, including hosting a large food pantry. Find more information about MOM on their website.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Westside Christian School enrollment
Open enrollment has begun! We are so blessed by the number of families returning to Westside for the 2023-24 school year. We do still have a handful of seats left to fill, especially in 4K. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to reach out to us for more information about our school. The best place for them to start would be our website at Westside-Christian.org, or they could call us at 608-831-8540 to schedule a tour.
Wisconsin Parental Choice Program
Westside Christian School participates in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP). The WPCP is a state-funded program that offers qualified families a voucher to cover their child’s tuition in full. The application period begins on February 1, 2023, and will end April 20, 2023. You can learn more and complete an application here.
The WPCP is available to current Westside families as well as students coming from a public school, home school, charter, or virtual school setting. Students could be eligible if their family income is below the program limit. If you have not been part of the program before but think your family qualifies and would like to learn more, we encourage you to reach out to Principal Meredith Pucci. More information can be found on our website. |
