This Week

Happy New Year!
You know it’s coming. Get ready for it. Here it is: “Will you stay awake until midnight?” If you ask it, you can anticipate a range of answers from, “I’ll just be getting started,” to “The new year will come in whether I’m awake or not.” If someone asks you, “Will you stay awake until midnight?” get your answer ready. How about this? “I’m not sure what I’ll do but I know I’ll be celebrating a baby who went to church.” His or her quizzical-looking response might give you the chance to explain, “I’m still celebrating Christmas and the truth that God not only came to earth as a baby, but he went to church as a baby.” It’s not the expected answer, but you’re pointing to the best news everyone needs: a Savior has come for the world. We won’t be gathering as God’s guests for worship on Thursday this week, but join us for the gathering on Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM.

Grow in Grace
Sadly, our world is filled with hate, and the hate seems to be increasing. There is also hate in your heart, some good and some not so good. God addresses the world’s hate, your hate, and what he hates. Come to Grow in Grace, St. Andrew’s whole church Bible study, on January 7 and 14 at 9:30 AM and learn to love what God says about hate. Childcare is available in the gym.

Small Talk
Fear not. Those words are part of the Christmas story. They are also part of your story. Listen to Alayna and Miles discuss that and more on this new episode of Small Talk. You can find Small Talk here or wherever you listen to podcasts. Search “Kamin Small Talk.”

Impact
This is a magnificent time of the year filled with magnificent songs, including the “Magnificat of Mary.” Listen to Pastor Nathan Wordell from Wisconsin Lutheran College share what he loves most about this song of praise from Mary to our Mighty God and Savior. Summer mission trips | Informational meeting January 21
Are you surprised at how quickly your 2024 calendar is filling up? Make sure mission trips have an opportunity to be part of it. Join the effort to spread the gospel far away from St. Andrew. Learn more about mission trips for teens and adults at the meeting at 9:30 AM on January 21.

Monthly Mission Partner
WayForward Resources is our December partner. This local organization provides several social services to the western Dane County area, including hosting a large food pantry. St. Andrew donated 757 pounds of goods to WayForward last month, but the need is constant. Find more information about WayForward (formerly Middleton Outreach Ministries) at their website.
