This Sunday
Big Words
Sometimes, just a few words define a person. Here I stand. I have a dream. Give me liberty or give me death. Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country. See how it works? Big moments in life often provide the opportunity for such big words. In the last few chapters of Acts, the apostle Paul finds himself in one big moment after another. This week, in Acts 25:1-12, he’s facing another threat and speaks defining words, “I appeal to Caesar.” The funny thing about those defining moments and big words is that you don’t usually see them coming: a child asks a question, a coworker expresses an openness to Jesus, etc. Jesus says to you, his child, “Don’t worry about what you will say. I’ll supply the words. You just stay faithful to me.” To do so, enjoy the fellowship of saints around the gospel in Word and sacrament this Thursday at 7 PM or on Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
College addresses
St. Andrew loves to stay connected with our college students. If you are a college student or a mom/dad to one, please send this year’s address to St. Andrew Staff Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad or grab an address card in the atrium.
Impact
In Romans 7, Paul bemoans the fact that he often finds himself doing what he doesn’t want to do and often not doing what he wants to do. Can you relate? Listen to Pastor Dave Wenzel from Fox Valley Lutheran High School share insight on our sin problem and the solution. You can find Impact here or wherever you listen to podcasts by searching “Kjenstad Impact.”
PowerHour
A new year of PowerHour begins this Friday! If you have a little one 3 or younger, check out this enriching ministry. PowerHour is for children and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers. For more details about PowerHour, click here.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Service and outreach
Welcome Vicar Hopper! We have engaged Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary senior Joel Hopper to serve as our “senior vicar” through April. Vicar Hopper spent the past year as a vicar (intern) at Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel. He is now back on campus at the seminary in Mequon for his final year of seminary. Vicar Hopper will be joining us on Sundays to assist with worship, preaching, Growth Groups, and outreach.
September Monthly Mission Partner
This month our mission partner brings us to Brandon, South Dakota. Our prayers and offerings will support a new mission congregation, Sure Foundation Lutheran Church. Pastor Craig Wilke began worship services in Brandon in 2020 with 30 members, and the Spirit has blessed Sure Foundation with 80 members today. This congregation currently worships at a golf course but is in the process of looking for land in the Brandon community. See their website for more information.
Sure Foundation Mission Trip
This past week, five St. Andrew members went to Brandon, South Dakota, to partner with Sure Foundation members in reaching out to their community. Watch for an update video soon!

Thank you
Dear St. Andrew,
I want to thank you so much for your support in my attending Martin Luther College. Not only with your thoughts and prayers, but with your contribution to my tuition. I am very blessed to be a part of this church family.
Thank you and God bless,
Seth Veers
Janitor position
Volunteers fill many, many roles at St. Andrew to carry out this ministry, but some roles we pay people to do. One of those paid positions is a daytime janitor during the school year to refresh bathrooms, do some general cleaning in the gym and sanctuary, etc. This isn’t the regular “heavy lifting” cleaning—we contract with Badger Chemical and Supply for the whole building cleaning after school. For more information about this part-time daytime janitor position, or to get the job description, contact us at [email protected].

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
The faculty, staff, and students of Westside Christian School began the 2022-23 school year on Wednesday, August 24. We are thankful for the many blessings God has given to us through the ministry of WCS over the years. Our 32 faculty and staff members welcomed all 223 students (pictured below from the first day). What a blessing to serve this community and partner with parents in their child’s Christian education! |
