This Week
Jesus’ harvest
Jesus does not send us out the exact same way he sent out his twelve apostles, but he does send us out, so we can learn a lot from his instructions in Matthew 9 and 10. Join us this weekend to heed his words: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Worship on Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights
Events and ministry news needing immediate attention
Growth Group sign-ups
Fall Growth Groups begin after Labor Day. Join a group to help your faith and to give you a wonderful way to help others with their faith. For more information on St. Andrew Growth Groups and to sign up online, go here. You can also sign up in the atrium. You will notice that some groups are filled up. That can be frustrating. Please add your name to the waiting list and then see if there is another group that will work for you. You can also speak with Mark Kjenstad, our Minister for Nurture, about future plans for any full Growth Group.

A Place of Peace
Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project
Construction update
This past weekend we transitioned to the south entrance of the building. Please continue to use the NEW driveway off Schneider Road and park in the new main parking lot to the south and east. Watch for signs to point you to the correct entrance.
Construction on Parmenter Street continues. To get to St. Andrew, it is recommended to take one of these alternate routes:
- From the north, County Road K to Church Road to Schneider Road
- From the south, Airport Road to Capitol View Road to Schneider Road
On evenings after 6:30 and weekends you can use one of the routes above or take Highway 12 to the Parmenter Street Exit #249 and drive around the barriers. This construction project is between Century Avenue and Greenbriar Road and will last until October. We will keep you updated as we learn more and appreciate your patience.
Confirmation request coming soon
Westside Christian School is undergoing its annual audit as part of its participation in the Wisconsin School Choice Program. As part of this process, our auditors will be reaching out to confirm A Place of Peace pledge balances as of June 30, 2024, and June 30, 2025, related to our ongoing capital campaign. (The audit covers two years, hence confirmation of the June 2024 balance.)
If you’ve made a pledge, you may receive a confirmation request regarding your balance and anticipated payment schedule as of June 30, 2024 and 2025. You’ll be asked to verify your records and reply directly to our auditor, Whitney Wagner at Reilly, Penner & Benton LLP, via email at [email protected].
Your timely response is greatly appreciated. For questions, feel free to email Financial Administrator Ron Kerr or call 608-219-8149.
A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”
Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Resources and opportunities for you to worship
Milestones
Luella Jules Hellenbrand, daughter of Carter and Marly, was born at the end of April. In a private ceremony last weekend, she was born again through water and the Word as a child of Christ. Pray that God bless the young Hellenbrand family with many blessings.

Nurture
Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others
Grow in Grace
Join us on Sunday for part 3 of The Bible: How It Came to Be. Dr. Stephen Geiger, from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, will lead the presentation. He will be joined by Pastor Clinton and Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad. The focus of part 3 will be translating the Bible from the original Hebrew and Greek. If you missed part one, you can watch it here. Part two is here. Grow in Grace is 9:30 – 10:15 AM in the sanctuary. Childcare is available. Contact Children’s Ministry Director Emma Nolte to secure a spot for your child(ren).
Large print Meditations
Meditations is a wonderful daily devotion booklet that is available in the atrium. Grab one and take it home. If you would like the large-print version, contact Mark Kjenstad. We are happy to accommodate.

College addresses
College does not have to be the time young adults leave their faith behind. Please pray for all Christian college students to remain faithful to Jesus and to shine their light in the direction of those who do not yet know him as Lord and Savior. Do you have a college student in the quickly-approaching new school year? St. Andrew has a ministry team that will send notes of encouragement during the school year. Help this team join you to encourage their continued walk with Jesus. Please send addresses to mark.kjenstad@st-andrew-online.org, or grab an address card from the atrium or write it on your connection card.
Impact podcast
Enjoy more on the Beatitudes, including a blessed promise from Jesus about persecution against his people. Professor Paul Koelpin, from Martin Luther College, is our returning guest. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
PowerHour
PowerHour returns on September 5 at 10:15 AM in the St. Andrew gym. This ministry is for parents and their young children, up to age 4. How fitting that our first theme of the year is “The Construction Zone!” Click here for more on PowerHour.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Thanks for past, present, and future prayers and support
Below is a message from the Dyer Family.
We are so incredibly grateful for your prayers and support since the unexpected loss of our son/brother Samuel James 8 months ago. We continue to request your prayers and conversations as we lament the loss of a young man who spent his life in routine, but through that routine loved those he knew, trusted God, and cherished the earth. We now must learn to live as faithfully and authentically with Samuel gone as we tried to do with him present. When you see a tree, we hope that you not only marvel in God’s beauty but also remember Samuel (tree climber/arborist extraordinaire)!
Enjoy music but not a musician?
Join the audio team and help make every song and message sound its best. It’s simpler than it looks, and we’ll provide all the training you need to serve with confidence. Contact Pastor Clinton to start serving.
New service role for 10:30 worshipers
If you prefer the late Sunday service and are willing to stick around for a half hour or so afterward, then a new service role is waiting for you. You don’t need any special skills, just some very basic computer competency. Contact Pastor Clinton to learn more.
Monthly Mission Partner
Our August partner is our local assistance fund. This is one way we help those in physical need. We show the love of Christ by helping not out of obligation, but out of thanksgiving for Christ’s love. St. Andrew has helped community members with groceries, gas, utilities, car repairs, children’s Christmas gifts, and more.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Another school year off and running
The Westside Christian School teachers, staff, parents, and students, among others, enjoyed another successful Kick-Off Night! What a great way to start a school year! The smiles, excitement, and anticipation for a successful school year was felt by all. May God bless all of us as we continue to teach God’s children the saving grace of Jesus. Keep praying for all of us! |

Job/ministry opportunities
Westside Christian School is in need of an After School Care worker (paid position) for the younger group (age 3 through 2nd grade). The hours are 3:15 – 5:00 each day. If interested, please reach out to Ellen Goetz.
Westside is also in need of several classroom assistants. These are paid positions. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Plath for more information.
Concessions need for sports
Do you love Westside’s athletics program and want to impact our guest and spectator experience? If so, Westside has a volunteer opportunity for you! We are looking for a Concessions Lead for the 2025-26 season (fall – spring sports). The responsibilities include the following:
- purchasing food
- setting prices
- monitoring sales
- keeping the storage organized
- coordinating volunteers using SignUpGenius (or another tool of your choice)
The Concessions Lead does not need to attend every home game. Your responsibility for game days is only to ensure coverage and that the workers know what to do. Please reach out to Athletics Director Jack Murphy if you’d like to learn more. Go Wave! |
