This Week
What do you treasure?
The five-year-old squirrels away buttons, bows, and rocks in a box under his bed. It’s his treasure. What’s your treasure? We all treasure something, even if we can no longer fit it into a box under the bed. One of the most famous things Jesus said was, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Gather with other treasure-hunters this Thursday at 7 PM or Sunday at 8 or 10:30 AM to let Jesus open your eyes to the treasure in our lives.

Farewell (for now) to the Hunters | June 8

Please save the date and look for more details to come.
Milestones
Kathleen Molling, Thad Molling’s mother, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday. She endured the difficulty of dementia during her last months on earth, but is now healed of all weakness and enjoys the crown of eternal life. Her funeral will be on Tuesday, May 6, at Heritage Funeral Home. Read her obituary here.

Mission Possible: A Model for Personal Evangelism
Grow in Grace is returning with a presentation that will help you be a missionary, without leaving the country! Aaron Wakeman, Executive Director of Friends Network, will describe the unique evangelism model they teach to all of their new missionaries. He will share stories of everyday people making an eternal impact around the world and give you simple tools to be a missionary right where you are. Join us for Mission Possible on May 18 at 9:30 in the sanctuary. Need childcare so you can attend? Please contact Yvonne Onsager to sign up.
St. Andrew Science Camp
St. Andrew is excited to bring back Science Camp. This summer, campers will learn about God’s creatures, great and small. There will be lessons from God’s Word, live animals, experiments, snacks, and more. Science Camp is July 14 – 17 from 8:30 – 11:30 AM and is open to kindergarten – grade 6. Register here. When you register, note the special opportunity for grades 5 – 6. If your child in 7th or 8th grade wants to serve as a helper, reach out to Yvonne Onsager.
Small Talk podcast
Be sure and listen to this new episode of Small Talk! Violet and Hawthorn are fantastic as they discuss the emotions of Holy Week while keeping both eyes on the good news that the resurrection of Jesus means our sins have been paid for and death has been defeated. You can listen to Small Talk here or by searching “Kamin Small Talk” wherever you listen to podcasts.
Impact podcast
The Bible story that features a talking donkey in Numbers 22 is not a story about a donkey. It’s a story about Jesus. Listen to Pastor Nate Wordell, campus pastor at Wisconsin Lutheran College, explain the details of this true story. Listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.
PowerHour
The next PowerHour is May 2 with a fun theme of “Above and Below.” You will have to attend to see what that is all about. New friends are always welcome. PowerHour is at 10:15 AM in the gym. Go here to learn more about this ministry for young children.
LifeBoat
This fun ministry for grades 7 – 10 gathers again on Sunday, May 18, from 5 – 7 PM at St. Andrew. You are welcome to bring a friend. It’s a simple agenda: hang out, enjoy some snacks, and open up the Bible for a bit. Direct your questions to Jess Bohl or Hilary Griswold.

Service & Outreach
Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others
Assist with Science Camp at St. Andrew
Science Camp is July 14 – 17, and we are looking for teenagers and adults to serve in a variety of ways, including as counselors, helping with art or experiments, serving snacks, helping with registration, and much more. Please contact Yvonne Onsager if interested.
Connections
Do you enjoy working and interacting with children? Come spend some time with Westside’s 3rd grade students! These students would love to make some new friends and connections with members of St. Andrew.
If you would enjoy playing board games and beginning new friendships with students in 3rd grade, please join us for 45 minutes on Friday, May 9, 2:15 – 3:00 PM, in the Westside gym. If you plan on attending and are interested in being a part of our 3rd grade Connections, please contact Mrs. Beth Plath by text (612.616.1760) or email (beth.plath@westside-christian.org).
Looking forward to making some new connections with our church and school!
We need your picture!
Have you ever arrived in a new community and been expected to learn hundreds of names and faces quickly? Well, that’s what we’ll be asking of a new pastor soon. To help make that easier for him, let’s try to make sure he can access current pictures of the St. Andrew family. Please send a current picture in portrait orientation to [email protected]. Thanks for your help in the coming transition.
Teen mission trip this July
St. Andrew is planning to send a group of teens back to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to help Illumine Church put on their summer camp. The trip dates are July 12 – 18, probably minus a day on either end. Please contact Pastor Clinton if you or your teen is interested.
Service opportunity | Brat Fest
St. Andrew will again be a Brat Fest charity. Volunteers interact with the community and earn donations toward St. Andrew ministry mission trips. Opportunities abound from May 18 – 25, but you must register here, and then please let Pastor Clinton know which slot you signed up for. Slots fill up, so sign up right away. Find more information about Brat Fest at bratfest.com.

Westside Christian School
A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word
Signs of life
There is a buzz of excitement around Westside Christian School these days. It has to do with a small incubator and a couple of eggs. As you can see from the pictures, the incubator and eggs are housed safely behind a viewing window of the principal’s office. Students come by each day to see if there has been any progress in the hatching process. We have a camera set up for live streaming so that students, parents, and teachers can check in at any time during the day.
What a perfect time to have such a project going! We just celebrated the amazing life of Jesus and his resurrection on Easter. His resurrection is the greatest display of life we can witness. Just as the small ducklings will break out of their eggshells, our risen Savior, Jesus, came from his tomb to appear to many and give us the assurance of our resurrection.
If you have not had the opportunity to see the display, make your way down to the middle school wing to see the new life behind the window. |
