This Week

A place where we love God
We can call our house of worship a place of peace because of the God we worship there. In Deuteronomy 6, Ancient Israel was called to a committed love for God and his Word. Three thousand five hundred years later, the saints of St. Andrew are called to the same commitment: love God and be faithful to his Word, hungering for it and discipling with it. Join us for worship Thursday night at 7 or Sunday morning at 8 or 10:30.

Highlights

Events and ministry news needing immediate attention

Pastor for Outreach call
Pastor Andrew Stuebs returned the call to serve at St. Andrew. Our next call meeting for Pastor for Outreach will be May 28 at 5:45 PM.

A Place of Peace

Updates related to the ministry expansion and building project

Construction update
The new building will have two main entrances: one on the north side and one on the south side. Because our site has some elevation changes, the north entrance will have stairs which were poured last week. The south entrance will not have any stairs. The stone on the front altar wall was also completed last week.

Upcoming move
Our first big move of the summer is quickly approaching, and there are lots of ways to get involved. Here are just a few ways you may be able to help out:

Sunday, May 17, afternoon

  • Get the staging from across the street and over to the gym (this will require significant manpower and several trucks).
  • Set up and decorate the altar area in the gym.
  • Begin AV setup.
  • Start packing up a few locations.

Tuesday, May 19, afternoon/evening

  • Move everything out of the sanctuary, Soul Café, cry room, and hallway to various areas around the building (this will also require significant manpower).
  • Set up AV areas and run cords in the gym.
  • Take things off walls, and much more.

Wednesday afternoon and evening will be used for finishing anything that wasn’t done the previous days to be ready for Thursday worship in the gym. If you can help on any of those days, sign up here. If you have any questions, email [email protected].

A Place of Peace giving
Giving can be set up like other offerings. Go to “Give” at the website, and you can set up a one-time or recurring gift. Choose “A Place of Peace” as the “Fund.” If using a check, please put “A Place of Peace” in the memo line. If using St. Andrew offering envelopes, use the designation “Ministry Expansion.”

Even if you didn’t make a formal pledge, you can still give. Every bit helps, as St. Andrew will still carry some debt, and the less debt, the more ministry.

Worship

Resources and opportunities for you to worship

A Place of Peace
“‘For in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” These words from Haggai chapter 2 were the basis of our capital campaign in May 2025. As we look forward to the completion of our new sanctuary, classrooms, and support spaces this year, we also want to give thanks for the grace and peace God has given us for the last 25 years in our current sanctuary. Not only has God blessed us through his Word and sacraments in this space, but over the years many of us have also celebrated milestones in our lives here as well: weddings, funerals, baptisms, confirmations, new member welcomes, first Sundays at St. Andrew, etc. We’d love to know about yours! Over the next few weeks, we will have a whiteboard in the atrium. We will have cards available to write your personal or family milestones on or feel free to bring a copy of a photo from your milestone events to put on the board. Let’s fill both of our whiteboards with the many blessings he has given us over the last 25 years as we look ahead to many more years to come.

Thank you Havens Petting Farm
What a special day of worship, fun, fellowship, and, of course, the lambs! A big thank you to Havens Petting Farm and especially Ferron and Barb Havens for bringing their lambs to St. Andrew this past Sunday for Good Shepherd Sunday. Ferron and Barb have brought their lambs to St. Andrew for many years to share with us on this special Sunday, and we are grateful.

Adult Choir
Join your voice with others as we give thanks for all the blessings God showered upon St. Andrew in our current sanctuary. The Adult Choir will sing for our final services in that space on Sunday, May 17. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays April 29 and May 6 & 13 at 7 PM in the Soul Café. Questions? Contact Minister of Worship Naomi Laabs.

Milestones
Late Monday night, our brother Paul Werth was surrounded by family when he was called to be surrounded by angels and saints triumphant in his eternal home. Please pray for Paul’s wife Donna and the rest of their family as they mourn his loss. Funeral arrangement details are not yet known.

Worship check-in
If you worship on-site, please fill out the Connection Card attached to your worship folder. Online worshipers, please continue to check in here.

Preview some of the songs we will use for worship on Sunday. Obviously ours won’t sound exactly like this, but listening to the links provided will certainly help you be more comfortable participating in the service.

Nurture

Ways to be connected to Jesus throughout the week in your personal life and with others

Grow in Grace
The Bible doesn’t answer all questions about hell or heaven, but it certainly is not silent on either one. “Hell and Heaven” is our next Grow in Grace. We will spend a week on each topic exploring what God reveals about hell and what God reveals about heaven. Both destinations are real. Both destinations are mysterious. Both destinations are important to know about. Join us in the sanctuary at 9:30 on May 10 and May 17 for Grow in Grace.

40 Weeks with the Word
A new church-wide Bible-reading plan will begin May 6. Sign up by May 3. We will spend 40 Weeks in the Word together. Find more information and sign up with this link. You can also sign up in the atrium. Minister for Nurture Mark Kjenstad can answer your questions. Remember, spending time in the Word is the last thing Satan wants you to do. That alone makes time in the Word time well spent.

Forward in Christ
The May issue of Forward in Christ is in the atrium. Each month, FIC offers wonderful Scripture-based articles on timely and relevant topics. Please help yourself. In this month’s issue you will find the following topics:

  • An article from WELS President Mark Schroeder on the divine call
  • Several stories about sharing your faith
  • An answer to this common question: “What can I do about worry in my life?”

Impact
God speaking to Moses from the burning bush is a heavy section of Scripture. Our guest this week, Dr. Michael Berg, helps us lift it up for understanding and application. He helps us see how Moses’ identity crisis (and ours) has its resolution in God. You can listen to Impact here or by searching for “Kjenstad Impact” wherever you listen to podcasts.

Service & Outreach

Opportunities for you to live your faith and love for Jesus by sharing Jesus with others

Service opportunity | Brat Fest
You can still sign up to volunteer and help secure donations to St. Andrew. Opportunities are May 19 – 25, and many are still open. It’s a great opportunity for individuals, families, or Growth Groups. Sign up here and then please let Pastor Clinton know your shift.

LWMS Convention coming to Madison
The 63rd Annual Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society Convention is June 25 – 28 in Madison at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. It features workshops, devotions, fellowship, and much more. There will also be many opportunities to serve both before and during; if you are interested in serving, please contact Amanda Taticek. Visit 63.lwms.org for more information about the convention.

Monthly Mission Partner
Our May partner is the WELS mission work in the Boise, Idaho, area where Pastor Randy Hunter, a St. Andrew member and former St. Andrew pastor, is serving as a mission developer. The team hopes to launch a church start soon. This ministry is part of a synod initiative to start 100 missions in 10 years.

Westside Christian School

A ministry of St. Andrew, preparing students for academic success and lives of Christian service founded on God’s Word

Connections
Westside Christian School’s 3rd grade students enjoyed Connections this past week. Thanks to the adults that helped out! Watch for it next year so you can also participate!

Call update
Miss Hannah Zabel continues to hold the call for teaching grade 5 at Westside Christian School. Please pray for her as she decides where she can best serve.

8th grade graduation
Westside Christian School 8th grade graduation is right around the corner. It is Monday, May 18, at 6:30 PM. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our 8th grade students.
